Thinking about little baby toddler Jingyi who never quite manages to stop running once he figures out how to stand and manages to full on tackle Lan Xichen into the ground atleast three separate times and each time Lan Xichen laughs, almost a little too free (because honestly after the war? Such liveliness is a blessing he can’t curb) as he stands himself and the little gremlin up. He grins, just barely skirting that ‘don’t be too joyful’ rule, and reminds Jingyi not to run for his own safety… before sending him after Sizhui and Lan Wangji who are walking past. When Jingyi manages to tackle them both down, Lan Xichen turns away to hide his smile but it still lingers as he looks at the others

Every Lan disciple in the vicinity suddenly forgets about the no staring rule and wonders if they can convince Jingyi to knock him down again to make him laugh again.

Ouyang Zizhen appreciation!!

Some of my favorite things about this boy that you may have forgotten because he deserves all of the love and affection ever:

-He’s nicknamed “romantic young master” and “little seed of sentiment” because he’s considered the most sentimental out of his friends

-After learning A-Qing’s story in Yi City, he cries for her and is the one to suggest that they burn the paper money for her

-He refers to Lan Sizhui as “Sizhui-Xiong” and the rest of the Juniors call him by  his first name. (This could also be implying he’s younger than Lan Sizhui, but could also be implying Lan Sizhui is the head disciple of his sect)

-He’s the first person to voluntarily follow Lan Sizhui out of the Demon Slaughtering Cave when they get kidnapped

-He relentlessly defends Wei Wuxian to his father and holds a great deal of respect for him

-Seriously, this boy speaks sarcasm as a second language

-He convinces his father to stop fighting the corpses at Burial Mounds

-He’s stubborn! He’s the first to try and come up with a logical reason why the cultivators couldn’t use their spiritual powers at the Burial Mounds and refused to back down when his father disproved his theory

-When everyone’s on the boats back to Lotus Pier after the second siege, Ouyang Zizhen mouths off to Sect Leader Yao in defense of Wei Wuxian

-This is also when Jiang Cheng tells Sect Leader Ouyang that his son has “silver tongue”

-After his father tells him to get off the boat that has Wei Wuxian and come join him, Zizhen says “Dad, Weren’t you the one who told me to get on this boat so I didn’t annoy you guys?”

-It’s implied that he still goes on night hunts with the other boys post-canon

He’s a sweet boy with sharp attitude and undeniably best friends with Sizhui, Jingyi, and Jin Ling!!

I just want to say thank you to all the Chinese speakers and people of Chinese heritage in this fandom, who spend so much time and effort translating or explaining things for those of us who aren’t Chinese and/or don’t speak Chinese. 

It enriches my experience of these shows so much, as well as giving me a much deeper appreciation for the beauty of Chinese speech and writing.
