How To Draw A Horse - a comic by Emma Hunsinger
This is beautiful. Keep drawing horses.
Hi!! Quick question, out of pure curiosity... Are there literally only three teachers in NRC???
I certainly hope not š
NRC has a student population of ~800, and judging by the homeroom class sizes (20-30ish?) and numbers (A through E), there has to be more than just Crewel for sciences, Trein for humanities, and Vargas for physical education. If itās just those 3, that means they each take on 266 or 267 students at one time, and while that may work for very general introductory classes for freshmen, itās not as feasible for highly specialized upperclassmen courses. Those 3 may just be the āleadersā of their respective departments, sort of like department chairs at colleges.
Thereās so many elective classes and homerooms with instructors that are unaccounted for⦠(Like, Crewel teaches Advanced Poison Making, but who here is teaching Music, Lucius?!) Itās just not logistically possible; there have to be supervising homeroom teachers for the different grade levels and classes because Crewel canāt be ALL of the homeroom teachers in multiple rooms at once.
We do know that a team of ghost chefs teach the Master Chef course, so maybe itās possible that ghosts help fill in for other teaching positions?? Ghosts also help out with other jobs around campus, such as being delivery people and handing out Vargas Badges during the boysā training camp. Alternatively, itās probably just a game limitation. It would be too taxing for the devs to make and implement a number of staff characters that is proportional to how many students NRC actually has so they have to default to reusing the ones that look unique.
I find it odd that we donāt have generic mob teachers or ever hear dialogue from someone labeled a āNRC teacherā though š¦ so maybe it really is ghosts doing everything else⦠It keeps Crowleyās costs low since ghosts donāt need things like food š

AO3 Etiquette -UPDATED
Based on both decent and not so decent replies, I have made some changes to my original post below.
It would seem a whole new kind of AO3 reader/writer is emerging and it is becoming clear not everyone quite understands how the website community works. Here is some basic guidance on how most people expect you to go about using AO3 to keep this a fun community archive that funtions correctly:
Kudos is for when the story was interesting enough to make you finish reading. If it sucked or was badly written, you probably left. If you finished it, you liked it - so kudos.
If you really liked it, you should comment. It can be long and detailed or a literal keysmash. Writers don't care, we just love comments.
No critisism unless the author has specifically asked or agreed to hear it. Even constructive critisism is a no-no unless an author note tells you it's okay. No, posting it online is not an open invitation for that. Many people write as a fun hobby or a way to cope with, among other things, insecurity and just want to share. Don't ruin that for them.
Do not comment to ask the author to write/update something else. It's tacky and off-putting and will probably have the opposite effect than the one you want.
There is no algorithm, it's an archive. Use the search and filter function to add/remove the pairings/characters/tropes etc. you want to read about and it will find you the fics that fit the bill.
For this to work, writers must tag and rate stories. This avoids readers finding the wrong things and missing the stuff they want. I don't care how cringy that trope is in your eyes - it gets tagged.
Character A/Character B means a ROMANTIC or SEXUAL relationship of some kind. Character A&Character B is PLATONIC, like friendship or family.
Nothing is banned. This is an implicit rule because banning one thing is a slipperly slope to banning another and another, until nothing is allowed anymore. Do not expect anyone to censor for you. Because of the tags system, you are responsible for your own reading experience.
People can create new chapters and sequels/fic series any time after they "complete" a story. So it's considered perfectly normal to subscribe, even to a finished story. You can even subscribe to the author instead just to cover your bases.
Do not repost stories or change the publishing date without an extremely good reason (like a complete top to bottom rewrite). It's an archive, not social media. No one cares what's the most recent, only what fits their tag needs.
Try to avoid deleting a story you wrote if you hate it - make it anonymous or orphan it so others can still enjoy it, without it being connected to your name anymore.
It's come to my attention that metaworks ARE allowed on AO3, which is something I wasn't aware of. So if you do post an essay or theory, please tag it as such so others can choose to search for it or exclude it.
The only reason this archive works is because NON ONE PROFITS. Do not link to your ko-fi or patreon or mention monetary gain in any way or you violate the terms and risk having your account removed.
I KNOW there's plenty more I missed but I'm trying to cover most of the basics that people seem to be struggling with.
I invite anyone to add to this, but please explain, don't berate.

Check out my ongoing comic Crow Time. It has crows, and also neat pantheons of epic beasties.
itās been two years, but i think that an icon like her deserves to be known about by more people.
her name was freddie oversteegen and she, at the age of fourteen, along with her older sister truus who was 16 and their friend johanna āhannieā schaft who was 19, was a part of the netherlands most famous all female resistance cell which was dedicated to fighting the nazis and dutch traitors.
among other things, they are known to have blown up bridges and railroads, smuggled jewish children from concentration camps and, as the tweet mentions, seducing nazis and then shooting them with guns that they had hidden in their bike baskets. freddie is quoted as having said that they āhad to do it.ā and that it was a ānecessary evil, killing those who betrayed good people.ā
though freddie and her sister truus were both lucky and survived the war, hannie schaft wasnāt. at the age of 24, hannie was caught and around three weeks later was executed by nazis, only 18 days before the netherlands were eventually liberated. she was shot with one only wounding her, and, before the final shot, hannie is quoted as having told the executioners: ik schiet beter, which translates to āi shoot better.ā
though she didnāt survive, hannie is recognized as a national icon and a face of the dutch resistance, with her story even being retold in a movie from 1981 called āthe girl with the red hair.ā along with this, truus also founded the national hannie schaft foundation in 1992, on which freddie served as a board member.
freddie, at the time of her death, was 92 years old and the last surviving member of the resistance cell, with truus having died two years earlier at the age of 92.
though these women and all that they did played an important part in the dutch resistance, they are often overlooked in history outside of the netherlands. itās important that they are remembered and that their work to save people isnāt forgotten. itās incredible what they did, especially given how young they were, and they deserve more recognition than what theyāve gotten.
āI shoot betterā Holy shit an icon
