papyrus was in snowdin he was inside grillby’s having a drink as he looked around him 

“to think this used to be one of the most lively places still confuses me grillby himself was a good man but ech… i could never like grease”

his eyes glowed for a moment “odd… why did i just detect some magic? hmm maybe it was toby again”

“You won’t even notice I’m here!” That was a lie, Jevil loves stirring up chaos whenever he can. He can’t exactly help it, especially now that he’s gone insane, but he’ll try to tone it down a little.

“So tell me do know where I can find some dark candy around here or at-least something to eat? It takes a lot out of me to warp from one place to another and keep this form, form.”

“you can go to the store it’s just across the street although i am the only one here i keep it fully stocked just... just to make it feel like someone is here”

Spinel barely has time to understand what is happening that Papyrus is teleporting them both away to a completely different location. It takes a few seconds for the pink gem to recover, the experience being not necessarily painful, just unlike anything they'd ever known. This was nothing like using a warp pad.

Once feeling better again they look around, gaze landing on the machine Papyrus had been talking about. This was their only ticket back home. They turn back to Papyrus, phone still in their hand.

“ It was nice meeting you, Papyrus. I… I wish I could have stayed there longer but I have to go back.”

Following the instructions they had been given, Spinel placed the phone in the machine, hesitating to push the button.

papyrus closed the door of the machine since spinel was inside it was see thru on both ways so they could still seem him he smiled and waved goodbye since he was able to see them too... 

it was nice to meet you as well and ... trust me you wouldn't wanna stay here it gets pretty BONELEY”

the faint sound of some drums playing could be heard for a split second and he chuckled just softly before turning away and slowly walking out towards the exit door of the lab with a large sigh

“ Well… I tried to call someone but it just said the number didn’t exist. And I appreciate the offer but I doubt you would be able to repair it, gem technology is really different to everything I’ve seen on Earth so far. ”

he smiled softly the best he was able he was happy they figured out a way to get them home safely though he’d be alone again he knew this was for the better 

“N-Nyeh excellent! i am glad we were able to figure out a way to solve this problem alright the lab is in hotlands if your ready i’ll teleport us both their and we can get you back home!”

“ Yeah, let’s go. I just want to go back home. This place makes me feel weird and uncomfortable. Too silent.”

Their eyes shifted once more to their unusable phone. This was the last time they were going to see Papyrus and they felt a bit sad thinking about it, thinking about Papyrus having to stay alone again.

“i would say you get used to it but thats a lie”

he grabbed their hand and soon they were teleported pretty much in an instant into the lab right in front of the machine their was a door and next to the door was a small glass slot big enough to fit anything one feet or below

“place your phone into the slot close it up step inside and press the button ... it was nice meeting you spinel even if... we’ve had our problems your a good person and i wish you safety”

he had been doing research into sans notes finding out everything he could not like he had much else todo 

“... well sans was hiding alot from me the multiverse? this is all so confusing”

he wasn’t okay with how things have turned out but it’s all he had though he would prefer to stay here 

“i do not fully understand this but i’ll take your words with a grain of salt and continue to read sans research notes i am sure he knew something about this and i’ll learn it in due time”

he sighed a little 

“now if you’ll excuse me i’d like to be alone”

“… it’s only been ONE YEAR SINCE I LOST MY RACE so no i am not ready to even consider leaving please just leave and don’t return i’d rather not know more about this player you speak of my mental health is already bad enough”

he summoned a bone shield just incase but also stood in place not making a move … papyrus is sparing you 

“your doing more harm then good with your actions it’s just helping me believe all frisks are bad people and thats exactly the opposite you want”

Core stayed silent for a few minutes there face showed not a single expression they disappeared from sight again then you felt something squeeze you and as you looked core hugged you tightly they showed some guilt on there face and smiled up at the skeleton hoping papyrus wouldn’t take this as a tric obviously choosing to spare him

“I’m sorry I was being a jerk I’m probably still a jerk because I’m still here but I can’t leave you in so much pain because I’d always see you in pain…yes your completely free to mourn your lost ones, but you can’t ignore important information and you can’t ignore taking care of yourself… maybe you don’t and maybe I have everything wrong but please papyrus don’t push those who still care for you away…”

core didn’t say anything else for a good amount of time but eventually did speak again

“as for the player you should really know who they are and what they have to do with frisk,chara,and the whole underground.even most sans’s I know didn’t know about the player and once they knew things changed in good ways…”

“i can learn to be happy with no one i am not ignoring what i need the underground is safe the humans aren’t coming back and if they try i do know how to recrate the barrier”

“i have food water and safety here so i am not ignoring important information trust me i would never forget to take care of myself... trust me whatever this player thing is it’s no longer important i can tell they aren’t coming back they got what they wanted no more resets will happen”

he teleported out of the hug he... he didn’t feel comfortable with a hug it made the blue tear stain glow brightly

papyrus heard some strange sounds coming from their phone they sounded oddly familiar 

“hmm maybe your device was damaged? and well i am just trying to help i figure if you know how to fix some things you can learn yourself to fix others”

“ I know you’re trying to help. But I’m trying to tell you it’s not going to work even if I learn these things. And I said I don’t have the time.”

“ Just look at my phone. It’s pretty obvious I should try leaving as soon as I can.”

“you are correct you do need to leave as soon as you can of course having a guest sounds nice but one even if i am lonely i wouldn’t wanna keep you here 

since you have people for you back home and two staying here might prove to be quite... dangerous and i don’t wanna risk you getting hurt either”

he walked back to his throne and took a seat sitting down 

“wait... you said you don’t wanna give up your map what about your phone? it’s broken anyway it looks like plus phones are quite easy to replace? why don’t you use that inside my machine so you can get home?”

he looked up at them with a bit of hope in his eyes he hoped he had figured out a way for them to get home safely

“the phrase is curiously killed the cat… not sure why humans invented that phrase but then again i’ve read a bit of human history where they executed poor innocent black cats just because they thought they were evil”

he rubbed his own chin a bit just thinking about human history alot of it was so violent he just didn’t understand why 

“… well i don’t have any books on gem tech for obvious reasons but maybe learning how to repair other things could help you understand how to repair it after some practice?”  

Spinel didn’t know what a ‘plague’ was and frankly they weren’t interested in knowing.

“ I don’t think I have the time for that. And like I said gem technology is very different. I doubt learning how to to repair human stuff would be any help.”

Spinel took their phone from their pocket, trying to see if there was anything that could help. Maybe a video that was saved on there. But as they tried to turn it back on, what would normally be the home screen showed a glitchy mess.

“ Uh? What the-”
