Call me Verity! :) I mostly just reblog stuff, for now. Some of it might include swearing, but generally, everything on here should be SFW. No gore, no sexy stuff, and nothing soul-crushingly dark.
My biggest obsessions are, in no particular order, Undertale, Detective Conan, Danny Phantom, Ducktales 2017, Gravity Falls, and The Owl House. The most recent addition to the list is Rise of the TMNT, which currently has me in a death grip. If anyone has any reccommendations for blogs to follow or fics to read, I'd love to hear them!
I'm also in love with the indie game "In Stars and Time," which took me by the throat and refused to let go for a good year or so. I was basically posting nothing else. So, to keep things more organized, I now put any ISAT stuff on my sideblog here: @cakes-isat-blog
idkâŚif anyone has done this, but F!Leo au where at the end of the movie, Mikey accidentally rescues F!Leo instead of their Leo (right before he gets disintegrated)
and he decides to teach Mikey all he can about F!Mikeyâs mystic training (what he knows at least) to get their Leo back
they do brotherly bonding (because F!Leo deserves to be happy too) and eventually they save Leo, but F!Leo has mixed feelings about the brave little turtle that could, but he doesnât hate, no no, not in this house
âmy dear, brave son⌠i am so proud of you. and i am so very glad you are safe.â
their reunion directly after the invasion. rambles under cut
i dont see enough people acknowledging in fics and other fanwork that this is the first time april and splinter are seeing raph since metro tower. he's back to them, he's broken free of the krang's control, and he's obviously horribly traumatized from it. there would be tears! many tears! and careful hugs! and whispers of relief! their boy is back, and he's very much hurt, but he's alive! mind you, before the events in metro tower, they had no idea if he was even alive!
god, same with his bros. after they win and get leo back (and possibly frantically rush him back to the lair for emergency medical treatment, depending on your interpretation), the bros that are left conscious are 100% going to have that same moment of reunion with him! they haven't had the chance yet for it to fully sink in that he's back, he's alive, he's okay, and they saved him. so yeah, don't skip over my baby's reunion with his goddamn family!!! let him have those tears!!!!!!! and let him have a moment to break down for himself and cry bc he broke free, and it was awful, and he definitely thought he was going to die but they saved him. guys please

ROTTMNT movie analysis that got longer than I meant it to (shocker)
Leo and Raph's relationship (a touch of the twins), the impact of Karai's death and their fight with Shredder, and the symbolism of their ninpo.
Never connected the dots before but Leo boasting about their ninpo the entire intro of the movie was 100% foreshadowing for them losing it later on, and carries a lot of meaning.
Having their ninpo won them the battle with Shredder, âfixedâ Karaiâs death, and itâs kind of like her last gift to them. Nothing could hurt them now.
Leo worked so hard to master his portals. There were multiple episodes about him being bad at it, how that rattled his confidence. He was finally confident in his portals, (his quick fight with Prime in this scene??? Hello???), so surely he could do anything now.
This scene could easily be Leo just. being Leo. But he's carrying himself with a confidence that he didn't have before, not this deeply. A façade of the narrative he's crafted to cope. He's convinced himself that because they've worked so hard, trained, have their powers, and defeated their biggest enemy, nothing could touch them. He's bargaining.
Their fight with Shredder deeply impacted all of them, even if we don't see it. Losing Karai, nearly losing their dad, etc. they're all a little rattled. Raph spent the entire first half of movie trying to teach Leo the lesson he learned that day: work together, rely on each other, you have your family.
Raph learning this lesson is what awoke their ninpo the first time. Itâs why heâs being so strict about it. Iâd be pissed too if I finally learned I could rely on my family just for one of them to act like this massive trauma didnât hurt.
Raph is acutely aware that Leo doesn't understand what he learned that day. He makes as such obvious. Because, unintentionally, Leo throws it in his face. Raph thought he didn't have to carry it alone anymore, but Leo isn't listening. And that didn't matter before, when Raph thought the responsibility was all his, but not only is Leo the leader now, but he wasn't supposed to do it alone anymore.
And Leo throws that in his face. Because Leo thinks Raph doesn't trust him (more on this later), he doesn't realize Raph is hurting. It's not about him.
To finish off the scene, it's Leo's failure to listen and Leo's ninpo that ruins the mission. Their lack of teamwork. On a more symbolic level, their lack of trust. It's Leo literally cutting Raph off before he can reach him.
Another detail I wanna point out is it was Raph to pull Leo away from Karai. He knows Leo was affected by her death. He thought that if he spelled it out for him, heâd finally listen and take this serious; itâs not a game anymore, hasnât been for a long time. Especially now that the Foot Clan is involved, possibly for the first time since Shedder. I think thatâs why Raph is so calm in their argument (until he, rightfully, isnât).
Leo mocks his stress, so Raph repeats his point. Raph has taken responsibility back. He's placed the weight of all of their lives back on himself, he was supposed to have his family to help him, he wasn't supposed to be alone anymore, (how much heavier does a weight feel when you were free for it for just a moment?) until Leo can get his act together.
But Leo doesn't get it. He think's Raph doesn't trust him. Leo's projecting insecurities he's developed onto him, isn't hearing what Raph is saying. And Raph is frustrated. After everything, you can't take the risk of one of us dying seriously? (He does, it terrifies him, so he makes up a world where that can never happen again.)
It's not that Leo doesn't take the Foot Clan seriously (Warren and Hypno, no. He doesn't think they're threats. Not in the same way.) Iâm a firm believer Leo was being serious in this scene. He was doing his typical quip at the beginning, but once the fight starts he doesn't have another one.
He understands the threat here. He does something similar when fighting Krang Prime later on, "Suprise!", "If this isn't the poster shot...", etc. Don't get me wrong, Leo has been insensitive and more than a bit insufferable this entire time, but to his credit heâs listening to Casey here, itâs why he goes for the key in the first place.
But at this point it doesn't matter. Raph is fed up with him and hurt by Leo's actions thus far. You can see Leo considering his options because he doesn't trust Raph's call here (Raph is scared. Raph is responsible for all of them. Dad is hurt.)
Leo makes his decision. The narrative was shattered the second they lost their ninpo, that Splinter got hurt (which Leo doesn't have a very overt reaction to, like he's trying to ignore it). But Leo does understand this threat and goes after the key. He just didn't realize how seriously Raph takes protecting him, that he'd give up his own life to do so (he think's Raph's mad at him, doesn't trust him, that he got in the pod).
(Raph stays to protect him because that's his baby brother and even if he's being a bit of an ass, he'll die to protect him. He looks at him with nothing but love and concern as he places him in that pod.)
Even after this Leo immediately crafts a new narrative: it's CJ's fault. If he hadn't gone after the key, this wouldn't have happened (the whole reason he went after the key was because he trusted CJ's judgement, everything shifts when Raph gets captured).
They lost their safety net, Leo takes a couple tries to try and get around that, but he can't. So, he finds another. CJ said he's the greatest ninja of all time, so he can do this. Raph might not like how he does things, but he was good in the future, so he can do this.
Then that narrative is shattered too. Leo has to confront his fears and not only accept that he has to do it, but he alone can't fix it. He thought that if they just trusted him things would be okay, but he needs to listen to them, to be responsible for them, he can't lose them. The thought terrifies him. It's here that Leo earns the trust he was asking for.
Their ninpo is their connection to each other. Their trust in each other is at an all time low even before the Krang showed up. Donnie and Mikey are affected by Raph and Leo's arguing, and honestly I think Donnie is also a little fed up with Leo. Not as much, but I digress.
Donnie and Raph discussed the escape pods at some point. Either Donnie thought of them or, if they were Raph's/a mutual idea, agreed that they were necessary. He's also coping with some fake confidence, pretty typical for Donnie, see above with him going along with Leo's four shell joke, as well as trying to keep the peace between them and trying not to take sides.
Mikey has faith in his brothers, is willing to call out when they're being unreasonable ("we don't have a plan!"), but he's mostly waiting for everyone to start trusting each other again and is relatively passive in everything.
Donnie fights the most with Leo after Raph is taken, but Leo's being stubborn and he eventually caves. "The world is ending and yet the barbs continue," could have been banter with some truth to it. Donnie (and Mikey, who Donnie spent the entire scene worried about) did almost die in the tunnels he explicitly told Leo was a bad idea. He's frustrated, too, but Leo's able to win him back. I hit the image limit but he's pretty annoyed and cynical about their future for majority of the rooftop scene.
Donnie was the one who almost died when they first faced Shredder. At this point, he's the one who's come closest with death (I think). The only exception is Leo when thrown off the roof, but he was saved by Raph's ninpo.
But Leo's figured it out, and he's able to regain their trust. He's listening, and he wants to reunite them instead of pushing and lashing out. He doesn't want to fight anymore. He gets it, displays his own vulnerability. He might not be able to save them from this, protect them. He could have kept fighting, but he's willing to die for Raph to know that he understands.
I think this insecurity is coming from a genuine place, Splinter's distrust. But that wasn't about him either, it was about Splinter's trauma and fear of Big Mama. That he was placed in the Nexus, a place he spent years being forced to fight, when he swore to never harm another creature. Leo's felt, for a long time, that his team didn't trust him so he has to beg for it. And there was a time they didn't.
But he forgot that he earned Raph's trust, Splinter's too. He thought Raph was mad at him. So he kept acting stupid and lost the trust he had earned because he kept projecting this insecurity onto them, because he didn't listen and assumed Raph just. didn't trust him to be a good hero. It wasn't about him.
It was about what Raph was going through, what Raph needed from him. Leo finally understanding everything Raph was going through, from the pressure of being leader to learning to have faith in his team, is what awoke it the second time. It meant so much to Raph because of how much Leoâs attitude was hurting him. It was Raphâs ninpo that awoke first, not Leoâs, because he didn't have to carry everything alone again. They're able to rely on each other.
In the end, it was Leo's ninpo that allowed him to save the world. And Mikey's, who was worried about his support systems not getting along, is supported as his ninpo brings him back home.
im back baby. with my au i made before season 4-5. all i had to go on was the felix episode and a dream. everyone deal with the au where i give adrien a little brother in the most convoluted and insane way possible. and they have the dynamic of all time.
the basic premise is that adrien gets to see a younger version of himself. imperfect and childish and he realizes he was still worth loving. he was that tiny and little and he was treated wrongly. and this tiny adrien gets to see a "perfect" version of himself that was made specifically for his parents and how it still wasn't enough. its basically an au where adrien reconciles with his shitty childhood via getting a new brother. and they both eventually get some selfhood. or whatever.
Donnie: "Accidentally" administers IQ test to child Casey Jr.
Leo, Raph, and Mikey: Simultaneously realize that all of them have separately taken the "fun shapes quiz" in Donnie's lab
Leo: "But...I liked it so much I came back and took it like, multiple times"
Donnie: "You gave me enough data points to calculate an average, excluding outliers. It was extremely informative."
Leo: *wiggles eyebrows stupidly* "So...am I a genius??? I'm a genius, right? Right??"
Donnie: "Sub-genius."
Leo: "Huh?"
Donnie: "You are three standard deviations above the mean. That means your IQ is higher than 98% of the population."
Leo: *emotionally incapable of accepting that he's smart due to internalized failure, begins coughing and retching and otherwise breaking down in a corner somewhere as he tries to figure out how to brush off this information*
any one else read that one half finished fic? Atlas, My Brother by SwampCryptid on AO3? where raph gets cused into takeing on all of his brother's physical pains for them untill it kills him? well i drew a mini comic at school while i was bored in class so HERE TAKE IT! I see so many posts like âimagine being adrian andâ and i havenât seen ONE PERSON SAY imagine youâre adrian and your husband goes on a mission to save the world and comes back 50ish earth years later with an alien and they saved the world. Your husband tells you all about this planet they went to that had the microorganisms needed to save the world. And your husband named it after you. Oh my god thatâs- oh. Oh you named it after what the alien called me? Ok. I guess. Still sweet, i wasnât involved and you werenât sure you were ever gonna see me again so i guess- the fuck do you mean THE ALIEN NAMED IT AFTER ME. IT WASNâT EVEN YOUR IDEA? YOU WANTED TO GO WITH MEDIUM ROUGH TEXTURE CIRCLE PLANET??? THE ALIEN WAS THE ONE WHO THOUGHT OF NAMING IT AFTER ME?????
one of the batkids gets dosed with truth serum and they immediately use it to try to get the others in trouble. not the non-drugged batkids using it to their advantage mind you, but the drugged one.
Dick: B i have to tell you something and you have to remember i literally cannot lie. Jason's on drugs. i saw him taking drugs you need to punish him. he's on drugs.
Bruce:
Jason from across the cave, THE most irritated they've ever heard him: I TOOK AN IBUPROFEN YOU FUCKIN' JACKASS.
-
Damian: father, usually i am not a snitch because Jason trained that out of me at the league, but i am under truth serum so i feel i have no choice but to let you know that Timothy is neglecting to tell you about injuries he gets on patrol again, despite your interventions. he clearly has no respect for you and this should be addressed.
Bruce, grave: Tim, is this true?
Tim, immensely confused: wha- NO?!
Bruce: Damian is currently unable to lie to me, Tim. please, be honest.
Damian: he even did it tonight, he does it all the time father.
Tim: what the- WHAT FUCKING-
Tim: *pauses*
Tim, incredulous: yOU MEAN THE FUCKING SPLINTER I GOT FOUR HOURS AGO?!?!
Bruce:
Bruce: ok but you didn't deny the no respect thing.
Tim: no comment.
-
Tim, through the coms: B, i've been dosed with truth serum. also Jason's killing again.
Jason, just accidentally stepped on a snail but loves to disappoint Batman: and i'll fucking do it again, what are you gonna do about it?
I love seeing content where Shinichi forgets that heâs not Conan anymore, but I NEED to see content where everyone else forgets that heâs not Conan anymore.
Ran scolds him for âgetting himself into troubleâ and Shinichi has to stand there getting lectured in front of the police for doing his actual, adult job.
Heiji tries to lift Shinichi up to show him evidence, forgetting that theyâre only inches apart in height now. Shinichi just kinda hangs there until heâs put down.
Kogoro yells at Shinichi for leaving the house so late and he has to explain that heâs going back to his own house. To sleep. Because he lives there.
The detective boys break into Shinichiâs house to whine about him not showing up to school that day, forgetting that he goes to college now. They pout so much when they remember that Shinichi has to promise to walk them to and back from school the next day. Haibara thinks itâs hilarious.
Akai keeps calling him âBoyaâ despite Shinichi being very clearly an adult man now, and Shinichiâs not entirely sure if heâs fucking with him or not.
Cassandra: YOU ARE ALL GOING TO REGRET THIS SO MUCH YOU DONâT EVEN KNOW.Â
Odysseus: Regret it why?
Cassandra: You wonât believe me if I tell you. If I prophecy, nobody believes me. That is my curse.
Odysseus: ⌠Iâm Nobody. Fill me in.Â
*A couple of months later*Â
Odysseus: HELLO PENELOPE, I AM HERE PRECISELY ON TIME AND NOT YEARS LATE incidentally I rescued and adopted a Trojan seer while I was away, sheâs great, got me home really fast, Cassandra this is your new mother whoâs not going to treat you like shit.Â
Penelope: ⌠Iâm going to need more details, but okay, sure.Â
By the way, you can improve your executive function. You can literally build it like a muscle.
Yes, even if you're neurodivergent. I don't have ADHD, but it is allegedly a thing with ADHD as well. And I am autistic, and after a bunch of nerve damage (severe enough that I was basically housebound for 6 months), I had to completely rebuild my ability to get my brain to Do Things from what felt like nearly scratch.
This is specifically from ADDitude magazine, so written specifically for ADHD (and while focused in large part on kids, also definitely includes adults and adult activities):
Executive functioning skills range from working memory to cognitive flexibility to inhibitory control, and beyond. They power our daily func
Here's a link on this for autism (though as an editor wow did that title need an editor lol):
Practical Strategies for Enhancing Executive Functioning Difficulties in Adults With Autism - Living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as
Resources on this aren't great because they're mainly aimed at neurotypical therapists or parents of neurdivergent children. There's worksheets you can do that help a lot too or thought work you can do to sort of build the neuro-infrastructure for tasks.
But a lot of the stuff is just like. fun. Pulling from both the first article and my own experience:
Play games or video games where you have to make a lot of decisions. Literally go make a ton of picrews or do online dress-up dolls if you like. It helped me.
Art, especially forms of art that require patience, planning ahead, or in contrast improvisation
Listening to longform storytelling without visuals, e.g. just listening regularly to audiobooks or narrative podcasts, etc.
Meditation
Martial arts
Sports in general
Board games like chess or Catan (I actually found a big list of what board games are good for building what executive functioning skills here)
Woodworking
Cooking
If you're bad at time management play games or video games with a bunch of timers
Things can be easier. You do not have to be stuck forever.
