She never realized until now that she’d craved the kind of contentment she feels with Audun. But it was more than contentment. There was love, passion, excitement. Every aspect of their lives meshed together to form a complete picture that she’d been missing. She takes his hand as they head towards the stables. 

It warms her heart to hear his words of trust. “I won’t forget. I… I’m so glad I’m here with you.” Her old life was starting to fade in her memory, and while there were certain things she’d always miss, this was the life that called to her now. 

There was an excitement to learning something new. She’d be learning to fight, how to wield a sword and an ax. How to ride. Her hair had grown quite long during her time here, and it flowed down her back in soft curls to her waist. She could feel the strands brushing over the hand at the small of her back. It didn’t even matter that it was cool. It was a perfect day.

Off to the stables they went, wandering to get his horse. He was perfectly content to have them both riding together on his back. Afterward, they wandered together to the shop that sat just beside the stables. He left Grenjar with Kate for a while, talking with a stable manager and his son. Eventually, after finding the right sort of horse, as gentle and tame as could be, he purchased her. 

Later, they rode out together to a field by the Andiun River. She was on his horse with him, her own galloping happily beside him as he held her reins as well. The wind was in their air and the temperature was temperate. It was cool but not overly breezy or freezing. Perfect.

I  corroborated  this  report  with  three  separate  witnesses.

My  family  has  just  been  destroyed.
