Okay so this is a great discussion on reptiblr and sand usage and I highly recommend reading it. I skipped over many parts in my screenshots to make this joke. My dash did this thing.

Hey there! Beautiful snake. Your little friend is actually a ball python, not a boa constrictor - important, since their needs are different. :3
What Is This Terrifying Giant Sea Creature?
The Man Whom Livess In The Slurps???????
apparently the British news media was freaking out over this video like WHAT IS IT??? HOLY SHIT??? TERRIFYING REPTILIAN MENACE SPOTTED
NEXT WEEK IN BRITISH NEWS:
“WOTS ALL THIS SOME SAWRTA BLOODY ‘ORRIBLE WET SPOIDAH!??!”
“SCUFF MY CRUMPETS, THERE’S SCORPIONS IN THE OL’ SALTY CHIM CHUMMERY PEEP PEEP BLAND FOOD FOOTBALL OVERRATED TV SERIES CAMELOT”
This Just In: Brits discover Marine Iguanas in the 1800s, rediscover them in 2016 and are Just As Terrified.
People who say, “I don’t see signs of discomfort” regarding videos of animals who are in discomfort baffle me, because, of course you don’t see discomfort. You don’t study animal behavior, so you don’t see it.
And no one is expecting you to see it. I wouldn’t expect you to know what a tumor looks like on an x-ray either if you’ve never studied medicine. But you trust your doctor when he points at the blob and says that’s what it is, right?
In the same way, we expect you to listen when people who do study and understand animal behavior tell you that it is actually discomfort, rather than plugging your fingers in your ears screaming, “LALALALA I CAN’T HEAR YOU!” as if that will magically make the animal’s discomfort go away.
The average dog owner wouldn’t recognize discomfort if it, quite literally, bit them in the face. But the thing about scientific fact is that it doesn’t change just because you’re too ignorant to see it.
If multitudes of professionals are telling you that a behavior displayed in a viral video is problematic, maybe you should stop moaning about how they’re ruining your day and try to learn something instead.
God I love this snake. Red was waiting as his rat-snacks thawed.
Male hog island boa.
This got a random note yesterday and I had totally forgotten about it. Such a pretty boy.
The anger wiggle
I was inspired by the post with the snake ontop of the other snake
your not-so-average pleco
Over the years the chain stores have begun offering a wider assortment of plecos to the every day public, each with different needs, but have the same info slapped onto them at the store. Commons, rubberlips, bristlenoses and clowns all have different care and come from different environments. Plecos are not algae eaters; they may eat it if they wish, but only with they are not provided with other options. A starving pleco is a pleco that eats algae. These are fish that have lifespans of nearly 20 years, that’s two whole decades of your life, that’s longer than most dogs. If kept properly, you will have your plec friend for a long time.

My first thought was @teleos and Typhon honestly
*walks into room, bends down to grab something off the floor*
*BONK BONK BONK*
“wha…?”
*looks up to see indigo furiously striking the plexiglass because movement=food(when)hungry*
Omg Spook is totally like this! It drives me nuts but at least he’s good about never letting me forget a feeding

So far my new Italian crested newts are loving their new home. Really excited that they took to the water so quickly.

Cat people please
People have a lot of arguments as to why their cat should be allowed to maul the local ecosystem unchecked but the two that make the least sense are “they’re basically wild animals/it’s nature” and “my cat would be bored inside the house all day so it’s cruelty/torture/some other gross exaggeration to not let it outside”. I…what? If you want to approach outdoor cats with the same considerations as a wild animal then congratulations, It’s an invasive species that’s highly injurious and therefore should definitely not be allowed to roam freely outdoors in the same way you (legally/ethically) aren’t supposed to freely release non-indigenous wildlife. Cats shouldn’t get a free pass that other animals don’t get because of what ultimately boils down to no reason further than “I find this animal cuter than this other animal”. And to this end if your cat gets maimed by a larger predator/killed because it hopped your neighbor’s fence and got eaten by the dog/shot/hit by car etc then you have no one else to blame but yourself.
And while I can sorta kinda understand the thought process behind the first reason the second one makes even less sense. Your cat isn’t bored in the house versus outside because outside brings out some kind of personal zen that can only be achieved by being outside, your cat is bored inside the house because your methods of stimulation and enrichment, if they’re even present, aren’t up to par with your cat’s personal needs. If you didn’t want to deal with an animal’s needs, why even get it?
This whole post is great but I want to emphasize this part. I’d just bold it but I’m on mobile so…
“If you want to approach outdoor cats with the same considerations as a wild animal then congratulations, It’s an invasive species that’s highly injurious and therefore should definitely not be allowed to roam freely outdoors in the same way you (legally/ethically) aren’t supposed to freely release non-indigenous wildlife.”
This part is also super great, so…
“Your cat is bored inside the house because your methods of stimulation and enrichment, if they’re even present, aren’t up to par with your cat’s personal needs.”

Happy 20th Anniversary to one of the biggest inspirations of my life, it’s hard to imagine there was a me before you, Pokémon.
Though pikachu is in fact my favorite, he also represents the franchise as a whole here, so please imagine this with your own favorite pokemon, as you reminisce and celebrate today’s momentous occasion.
