Rani would definitely be a freshwater mermaid, lurking in some deep forest lake. Very nice tho - not into drowning people at all - right up until someone litters or tries to dump garbage in the lake, at which point she'd go full kraken on them 🔱😂
Wish I could make the tattoos white and the freckles black but that wasn't an option.
In these kinds of character makers I usually compensate for her white starflower tattoo by giving her any white forehead marker available - or give her some kind of flower or other hair adornement. White moon and... whatever plant that is, works well enough I think!
When you're the baby of two protective stinky older tiefling brothers and they like to pick on you. 🫡 (When they pick on her, it's always harmless. They will NEVER bully her like some siblings do, nor will they intentionally cause her to be overwhelmed or pissed off. When she starts to stem, they hold her close and hum a song to her. When they do "pick on her" it's absolutely adorable 😂. She might look irritated here but she actually enjoys it hahah)

I wanna nerd out a bit about what you picked up.
For the record, I know it just seems like sad little drow meow hours to some, but this is a significant moment in his story. This took me about a month of sporadic attempts to capture the idea I had in my head.
So, the hair is the beauty of the technical wonder called hotsampling using the Otis_Inf Tools for detail, and then IGCS_DOF for the depth and smoothness of the details.
THE COLORS!! Thank you for picking this up. 😭 And to even go to the extent of picking out the colors!!
First of all, I am not one for editing in Photoshop, I don't really have the vision for what I can do with a shot in post processing, so I really try to make the image entirely in BG3 with lighting tools and ReShade.
So for this, I very specifically set up two pinpoint lights to shine in his eyes to reasonably match the color of the moth, partly because I like a uniform color palette so an image doesn't come off as too busy.
I don't have a direct before and after, as this shot took me days of iterations to attempt, some with and without that light. Here's a without:
And this is adding the pinpoints, for comparison.
By the time I got to the shot I posted, I realized a lot of the expression was lost in shadow so it got brightened overall. In a slight tilt of the camera, it is a little more obvious
And there is an intention behind it as you have surmised, besides the samey color palette. To those who don't know his story, this is Eilistraee manifesting to him as a swarm of moths after tearfully venting his frustration with trying to join her clergy for over a century and being rejected for the crime of being a man (things that simply happen in canon).
The idea is that she IS there despite her apparent absence, and HE does manifest her will in the world, despite not having had the rank.
Seriously THANK YOU for picking this up. I mostly did this for myself but it is SO SO rewarding to know that you took a deeper look at this and found what I was putting down.
