There are two things that make Mike Crew such a funny character.

1. He’s just… such a bad person. Leaving aside avatar stuff, because every avatar does casual murder, Mike Crew was was terrible even before he became an avatar. He’s already got a body count by the time he encounters Ex Altiora. The statement giver of that episode is like ‘I’m pretty sure this child is willing to murder me for that book’.Got his parents killed by a spooky book and was like ‘yeah, I want more of that’. Casually murdered someone (many someones?) with the Boneturner’s Tale and then when he decides it’s just not quite working for him, chucks it in a library a place where it’s guaranteed to ruin someone else’s life. If you think about it, Mike Crew managed to contribute to the eyepocalypse twice. Everything Jared got up to is lowkey Mike Crew’s fault. He just does not care about other people. Iconic

is there a smell comparable to space ? i assume we dont know because we would die if we tried to smell it but thats so cool

yeah if humans tried to smell space just like that, we’d die, no doubt about it 

but the smell of space lingers on spacewalk suits, and docking hatches when astronauts open them!

apparently, space itself smells like burning hot metal, or a hot barbeque grill with a slight hint of spent gasoline. The moon, apparently, smells like a gun after its been shot!

The coolest thing about it all is that the smell is actually what are left of dying stars- it’s literally the smell of stardust, and the particles smell like that because they’re so rich in hydrocarbons- something so very essential to life, and speculated by a lot of astronomers and astrobiologists and such to be the very thing life on earth started from!

another neat fact is that no two solar systems smell the same- ours smells like that because our solar system in particular is extremely rich in carbon, and other solar systems and places in the universe will have extremely different smells depending on what elements are most abundant in their system!

im glad to see this post still in circulation, i only posted the pic at first not expecting it to get many notes, but it pains me to see people reblog this version not knowing what the shape actually is

according to the news articles about the subject, this is most likely caused by the merging of two or more galaxies!

His best guess is that the question mark is actually two galaxies merging.

“That's something that's seen fairly frequently, and it happens to galaxies many times over the course of their lives,” he says. “That includes our own galaxy, the Milky Way… [it] will merge with Andromeda in about four billion years or so.”

The hints pointing to two galaxies are found in the question mark’s strange shape. There are two brighter spots, one in the curve and the other in the dot, which could be the galactic nuclei, or the centers of the galaxies, Britt says. The curve of the question mark might be the “tails” being stripped off as the two galaxies spiral toward each other.

when galaxies merge (sometimes called colliding, though there is so much empty space in galaxies that the chances of matter actually colliding is astronomically low), they don’t just do it all at once

rather, they enter whats often described as a “cosmic dance,” with the other galaxy. they tug on each other, stretching each other out before orbiting closer together, then repeating the process over billions of years. this leads to the cool shapes (like the question mark) that you can occasionally find in deep field images like the one above :)

The spectral leviathan moved ever so slowly; it would be several minutes before its observers would see it disappear into the void of the deep, trailed by its billowing membrane. It would give them plenty of time to take in the view of such a being.

imo, figuring out your avatarsona is a two-pronged question and I mostly only see people focus on the first half.

the first half: what appeals to me? what fear do I instinctually understand and not need explained? when I'm at my lowest points, what behaviors do I always have to reign myself in from? what's that personality trait that I intellectually know is a flaw but just can't care enough about to change? what's that way I act that I know is wrong but feels too right for any argument against it to take hold in my mind? what fear could I see myself using as a tool?

the second half: what terrifies me? what stands out as the worst thing that could ever happen to me? what have I had nightmares about? if this fear came after me, what would I be willing to do to keep it from taking me? is there anything that horrifies me so much that I would wholeheartedly rather inflict it on to someone else than let it consume me? need it only threaten me with its presence in order to get me to do its bidding?

then you try to figure out which of those two answers holds more weight, which one needles you just a little bit more. and if both answers are the same, then, well, congratulations! you absolutely know your avatarsona!
