Hi! So this is a bit weird of an ask, but to the six people still around following my tumblr, what if I started doing OC content? My dad gifted me a World Anvil subscription as an early Christmas present, and it's gotten me to realize that I have ALOT of a fictional world already prepared, plus several drafts and I love these characters.

Like, would anyone be interested if I started talking about that here? Or would that just not be anyone's cup of tea?

So, uh, heads up, you're probably going to see some more activity from me in the next month for Whumptober before I abandon this account again. (It's mostly going to be Lupin III, but there's one maybe two Moomin fics planned too). So yeah.

I write my fics out in Google Docs and then paste the text into Ao3 when I'm ready to post it. Does anyone else have the problem of pasting with italics? If there's a word in italics next to punctuation, Ao3 will add in a space for some reason and it's kind of infuriating.

One of the AO3 translation volunteers (Min) created a Google Docs script to handle issues when copying from a doc into AO3. It’s really easy to use

create a copy of this google doc. It contains the script that will do all of the HTML formatting for you.

Delete all of the text from the document.

Write or paste your fic/chapter into the document.

Go up to the top menu and click the new menu option Post to AO3, then choose Prepare for posting into the HTML editor

Note: because this is an apps script, you’ll need to give it permission to run the first time. 

The script will automatically mark up your document with the required HTML that you can then paste into the AO3 composition window. \o/

To revert your text back to normal, just go back up to that menu and choose Remove HTML. It will look like regular text again. 

Once you have the doc, you can make a new copy of it for each new fic you write and that way you’ll always have that script available when you need it :)

I’m sorry, I had a lot of nasty things hit me at once. But I moved and finally achieved a permanent job (with a pension!) so, that was very helpful and solved quite a few problems.

Summary: 

 Snufkin is on his way back to Moomin, but he's running late. Spring came early this year, and he wasn't ready for it. To make up for lost time, he decides to take a risk and travel in the middle of a terrible rainstorm. When Mother Nature rears her ugly head, will Snufkin be able to make it back to his best friend? And will Moominvalley still be waiting for him?

Excerpt:

Snufkin was tired of running. Defeated, he curled into a ball on the forest floor and started to cry. He pulled his hat on, clasping the edges like a lifeline. For a minute, he was comforted. He had missed the familiar sensation of his hat on his head. For years, it had functioned as a sort of a security blanket for him. But the longer he held onto his hat, the more he was reminded of the unhappy circumstances that had led him to this point.

The Moomins had thrown his hat away.

Desperately, he tried yet again to think of a reason why his hat would’ve been floating on the wind like that, but he still couldn’t think of a single reasonable explanation. His heart kept telling him that this couldn’t be so, but his mind and his eyes were telling him otherwise.

He could feel the tears streaming down his face. It was all too much.

Suddenly, a rustling noise came from the bushes. Snufkin whipped his head around. “Who’s there?” he yelled. “Go away!” His voice sounded as fragile as a spiderweb, but Snufkin hoped that it shook with enough passion to scare the observer away.

“Eep!” Stinky leapt from the bushes and ran away.

Snufkin crossed his arms. Of course Stinky was the first person to see his return to Moominvalley. Stinky was surely telling the entire valley about his return now.

Snufkin wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
