How accurate do you need your Time Period Costumes to be?
TAG YOURSELF!
Titanic: OK BUT IF IT'S SET IN THAT TIME PERIOD THEN EVERY STITCH NEEDS TO BE FROM THAT TIME PERIOD BECAUSE OF AUTHENTICITY! IF YOU HAVE TO USE ALL YOUR BUDGET TO GO BACK IN TIME TO SNATCH SOME TIME ACCURATE PANTIES. THEN SO BE IT! BECAUSE AUTHENđTICIđTEEEE!!!đ
Shakespeare in Love: Well, I really appreciate when costume designers really try to be true to the period you know? But if there's an eye liner here or obvious hair dye job there then no problem desu yo đ
Gatsby: Hear me out, work with the silhouette but hear me out now...have the clothes made by modern fashion designers. Nobody wants to see those ratty old clothes from the museum. THEY FALLING APART! Also throw JAY-Z and Lana on the remix soundtrack cus that ol' jig non music putting me to sleep đ
Marie Antoinette: CONVERSE!!!!!Â
âMy whole idea was to do a contemporary take of Dangerous Liaisons [1988]. For one of Sarah Michelle Gellarâs outfits, we built up this corset and then put it under a Dolce & Gabbana suit so that it referenced an 18th century silhouette but it still felt contemporary. Youâll notice that the drapes in the room are the same color as the sheer dress Kathryn wears. We wanted the palette to be cohesive.â - Denise Wingate

âI thought the colors and the sheen on it were fantastic, and theyâd look great at night in that club, with the strobing colored lights and all that. Itâs got almost that metallic sort of sheen to it. We work with the lighting, with the production design as well, so itâs making sure we get the maximum impact with the clothes in that contextâ - Phoebe de Gaye
BBC America âKilling Eveâ Looks
Molly Goddard dress and Balenciaga Cut Out Ankle Boots
âThat sort of bubblegum pink. I mean, in the script it says sheâs wearing a big poofy dress. But itâs a big opportunity for her to do a sort of very girly thing, but undercut it by putting it with boots. That came from me more. And I thought that Molly Goddard stuff was just perfect for that more insouciant, putting two fingers up, rather subversive [moment].â - Phoebe de Gaye

BTS: Creating the Drone Hosts
A Drone Host is the textbook definition of a robotic creature stripped down to its essentials in the Sci Fi Drama, Westworld.
The suits were practical effects made from foam and latex by the Special Effects team.
Watch the video above for info! And head over to Vulture to read about what it was like to be the actor in one the suits.
What Itâs Like to Play One of Westworldâs âInhumanâ Drone Hosts
I think people will be surprised that this wasnât a motion-capture situation, and you were actually in this very intricately created and executed costume. Can you walk me through all of the steps it took to get it on, and how long that process lasted?
The suit was relatively easy, surprisingly, compared to other suits Iâve worn in the past. It was essentially this: I was wearing a grey undersuit like a morph suit, and someone would zip up the back. And I had a hood with a foam face of the drone on it, which would come over the top. We would then slide into the full-body suit of the Drone, and there was another piece strapped over the face. Those were all sealed, and a blank face piece would be magnetized onto the front. All in all, it was about a half-hour process.
