Happy Star Wars Day! Here’s my other Skywalker Twins comic all in one post!
i am a person. you are not.
the cunt off to end all cunt offs are you actually kidding me people fucking died this shit was felt thousands of miles away through tremors in the earth the sheer cosmic power of their facecards rippled through the ether and kier goddamn eagans ghost on the big waffle in the sky shivered and turned around like Something Just Happened
the egg bar is coveted as fuck
this is like. GENUINELY the best edit i've ever seen in my life. full stop. let me reiterate: not just the best severance edit. THE best edit. the creator doesn't have a tumblr that i can find but i simply had to share.
nothing is certain about severance except mr milchick having that shit ON
need to string together my thoughts more on this but reeeeeally interesting to see the influx of media - severance, the substance, mickey 17 - centered on the idea of a double/expendable iteration of yourself.
the dehumanization of workers by the way of non-livable wages, unsafe working conditions, and identity based discrimination (and the current removal of dei initiatives), all drive a wedge between our personhood and the value we are prescribed as a member of the workforce. something something the effects of ai and deepfakes already putting people in danger, the way we live and present our lives online vs in reality, there’s a lot to unpack here. but it’s fascinating to see this trope so widely translated as a storytelling vehicle for these ideas, and that this is the story that people are interested in telling.
honestly i think the marching band sequence was one of the most horrifying sequences in the whole episode.
this whole season has been milchick silently contemplating his place at lumon, particularly in regards to his race, and yet he is still pushing through even after abuse from kier "himself". he is still performing.
and frankly i don't think it's being taken as seriously as it should be by the audience!!!!!!
i get that that is partially because it is absurd and out there that lumon would have a whole marching band and partially because tramell tillman brought so much oomf to it (i still cannot believe that this is one of his first screen acting gigs - he is such a good actor). and also, it's meant to evoke the first season's dance sequence (but i also don't think that's taken as seriously as it should be by the audience soooo--- ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
but like — i felt a similar kind of horror watching the marching band sequence that i did watching get out and us. like. watch this black man in white gloves and a cane who has been consistently put down and othered for his race throughout this entire show, perform at the request of an automaton of the white man who very likely built his company on the backs of former slaves at the end of the civil war, whose company who still effectively employs slave labor and indentured servitude two hundred years in the future.
for milchick, this season began with lumon black face and ended with, effectively, a lumon minstrel show as someone else put it.
that is horrifying.
In regards to the dance scene in the first season, I also think Milchick performing with the marching band did a great job really hammering home how, despite becoming head of the Severence Floor, his position in the company functionally didn't change.
Everything he did in Season 2 was basically what he was already doing in Season 1: micromanaging the innies, keeping watch over everything, constantly moving around to handle the day to day things on the floor. He gets an assistant in Season 2, but she's just there to learn and she doesn't do half the things he still does. And most of the "rewards" he gets for his new position is getting constant reminders by white people higher up the chain that they don't see him as an equal.
And then all this hard work culminates in the final episode where he's repeatedly insulted by a statue of a white man and then participates in the marching band (which is mostly made up of people of color, btw) as part of the entertainment. Like how he was part of the entertainment in Season 1.
do we think any macrodata is being refined this week or….
Your outie prefers two scoops of ice cream in a serving, but they must be the same flavor.

Omg I love this! And Gemma down there with the chair, Mauer being an oblivious creep
and obviously you find yourself thinking oh i do wish i could get severed to do this one thing. would you actually maybe not. but you do wish you didn't have to undergo medical procedures you do wish you didn't have to do the things that give you anxiety you do wish you didn't have to do tedious tasks that barely even require you to be present for them. it's tempting. that's why the premise works. but the premise is also that somebody has to do it. somebody has to go to the dentist and somebody has to get on that plane and somebody has to write those thank you notes. just like somebody has to clean the house and somebody has to harvest the food you eat and somebody has to make the clothes you wear. you can't eliminate inconvenience you can only delegate it. you can't eliminate suffering you can only delegate it. and always the easiest way to live with this is to see that somebody as less than. less than you less than people. and if that somebody has to wear your body to do it well maybe it's not all that different. they're not a person. you are. it's capitalism all the way down baby
YES THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
happy severance day! here's some studies I've done while waiting for the new episode
