The revelation of Zelda and Link being chosen by the goddesses in Ocarina of Time, will never be not funny to me.
Because the first sign was the same for both: prophetic dreams. But for some reason, Zelda got the light version of it, while Link got premium HD 4K Movie scene version.
Zelda: Dark clouds looming over a grand field, till a light from the forest clears the sky. A boy with a fairy.
Link: Stressed out situation. Not in the forest, place never seen or been bevor. Outside means death! Why is there are giant stone wall? The wood door moves really weird. Suddenly a weird animal, that looks like a moose but is definitely not a moos, runs past. An adult is on the animals back, with a distressed child. Turning around there is very big adult! Looks sick, because of green skin. Last thing to see is white.
On the pro side if Ocarina of Time gets an actual remake: We can lean more about the character since they can have more dialogue options.
Get more lore about the Hyrulian civil war, and how it still affects the Kingdom.
Getting lost content like the Temple of Time being a Dungeon. Or get the Triforce at the Temple of Light after playing the Overture of Sages…
On the contra: the fear that Nintendo completely miss, how truly unsettling and sad the majority of the game is, leading to wash out a lot of heavy themes, because it needs to be ”family friendly”.
I always have to start the New Years with this picture.

This post is ancient and stupid but I still laugh whenever I see it
Ancient and BRILLIANT, I think you mean.
One headcanon that I have about Time base on OoT and MM is that the Lost Woods would never harm him or turn him into a Stalfos. Also he thinks everyone is lying about the forest being covered in fog.
1. He is fine during the whole "Adult-arc" of the game, whenever he is in the Lost Woods ( minus the Skull kids attacking him, but like the Kokiri’s they really dislike adults in general) I think, it was even said in an interview about Oot, that the Graveyard-kid also turned into an Skull kid, but if he knew that the person in the woods was Link, they would not harm him.
2. Fado asking Link if they will also turn into a Stalfos, may be because non of the Kokiri recognize Link (also i think it was so the player understood what the curse of the Lost Woods is, since not everyone will go to that one Shikah-Stone that also held similar information)
3. When taking the wrong turn in game Link ends back at Kokiri Forest just fine, he never loses a heart, nothing bad happens at all. The woods just take him home.
4. While there is no fog in Oot, maybe because that area is close to the great Deku Tree. There is fog in Majoras Mask part of the Lost Woods. But if you see the intro you notice how far away the fog is to where Link is with Epona. Even when he runs after Skull Kid the path in front of him is complete clear. Yes the forest looks more darker and intimidating, but that could be because Link went even deeper than the heart of the Lost Woods (Kokiri Forest is referred to be the close to the heart of the Woods). Still he is fine, even without a fairy!
Back to my headcanon, Time still sees the Lost Woods like a normal forest. He just walks there and never gets push outside.
Which would be a funny situation of the chain getting lost and pushed outside, some might take damaged. Only for Time to be taken to The Great Deku tree/ Forest Heaven/ Korok Forest just fine.
Twilight: Where is the Old man? Why isn’t he here?
Hyrule: Maybe he is still inside the forest?
Wild: But the fog covered us all! Even him!
Meanwhile with Time: Pops up in Korok Forest
Deku Tree: My Child! It’s been so long since you came to visit your old man.
Time: Hi dad :3
Would someone in the Zelda community like to hear about my LoZ AU, especially the world building and/or other theories I have? Mostly about the Lost Woods, Hylia, and the whole Reincarnation Cycle?
It’s an AU but, I really don’t know how to start with it, or where it should go, but still I would love to tell people!
Tbh the Timeline split happening because of Ocarina of Time’s use of time traveling always made sense to me. Not because of the whole Timetraveler-moves-a-chair-and-breaks-time-and-space-thing, but more because we have Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.
But before I explain that, I also want to explain another theory that I have, that also seems to play a role in it, even if it is subtle. I call it the "Death-Theory" or the "No-Doppelgänger-Theory".
Basically, you can only exist es you are in one timeline. Oot!Link would be the perfect example for this, since he only "exist" as he is in the Child-Timeline. In the Adult-Timeline he gets erased from existence completely and going to the Downfall he dies. The are no Doppelgänger-Heroes in any time-branch. Leading to a very dark rabbit-hole of how the hero’s spirit actually works, but that’s another topic.
An argument against this theory could be the events that called for a hero! Or if my theory is right, why is Zelda still alive and well at the end of Oot in the Adult-Timeline? So I will try to answer them, in what I get from the games.
Oot!Zelda keeps to exist in the Adult- and Downfall-Timeline.
The Adult-Timeline: Yes and No. While yes, she is very much alive and well at the end of Ocarina of Time, we don’t know how long she lived. Like all Zeldas she is blessed by the Goddess Hylia in her blood, so I think she died very young and not long after giving birth to a child. Since she is never specifically mentioned in WW. The only ones from old time that played an important role at WW past were King and the Princess Zelda of that time. (Can’t recall if that Zelda’s was King daughter or Tretras grandmother…but that Zelda is clearly not Oot!Zelda)
The only thing we know is that she had a family but I do find it interesting that even though she had a very important role in helping Oot!Link defending Ganon, in the Legends she isn’t really there. Maybe the people recalled more her actions as Sheik, but the fact that she has nearly no bigger role in as the only survivor of the royal family, just gives me that feeling that she died to early to make an impact…
The Downfall-Timeline: Yes and No, the same as in the Adult-Timeline, but I have the headcanon that this Zelda lived the longest, which given my theory, means the Zelda from the Child-Timeline had to died young or earlier as well. There is no prove to this, this is only my headcanon based on the fact that Hyrule Castle and other things have been relocated. Yet in the end there is no mentioned of Oot!Zelda in the recalls of the tragedy that happens with Ganon. (Honestly the whole Fallen-Hero Legend is again a rabbit-hole of their own, and I understand why people say that it doesn’t make sense to anything that could connect it to Ocarina of Time.)
There can’t be an Doppelgängers the events are different: Yes and No again, but this time there IS somehow a prove in it!
If we look at the Timeline: We could say that the Oracle games and Twilight Princess would have to happened at the same time, if there were in the same timeline.
»But Maski,«, I hear you say.» the Oracle games take place Outside of Hyrule!«
Yes my friend, but you know what takes place in Hyrule? Correct, the Twilight Invasion! Why isn’t Alttp!Link called to save Hyrule, in comparison to TP!Link, he does live closer to Hyrule and was raised in an hylian community! But he is not called nor do we see him, even though, technically he should be there.
More interesting would be TloZ and FSA! These two seemed also to happened at the same time, and even stronger evidence the evens of FSA could or should have happend at TloZ, the Four Sword should still be at the pedestal and thanks to Alttp we know that the Sword exist in the Downfall-Timeline! But non of this event happend, strangely we never see another Link that should exist as well!
The is the theory of Collin from Tp being WW!Link, but given the Timeline it could fit, but also WW!Link is not born with the hero’s spirit, means this theory has actually some backbones to back it up.
Now back to why Ocarina of Time makes sense to me.
1. Would be my no Doppelgänger-Theory. Which’s is demonstrate the strongest with the ending of Oot and the legend’s of WW
Also it could be explain with Ganondorf as well. He gets to be sealed in the Adult-Timeline, changing his fate from that of the Child-Timeline exile. And we can also go down the route of Ganondorf/Ganon’s extremly slow death in the Downfall-Timeline in which he comes back but one point he is hardly the men from Oot.
2. Twilight Princess and Wind Waker have evidence or a legend tied to Oot, A Link to the Past has the same, is just not a victory!
I’ll be honest, Twilight Princess does what is supposed to do, make us remember Oot without even mentioning it. I I don’t mean the Hero’s shade! I mean Ganondorf’s actions to prevent a Hero to come after him! He commented his monster to kidnap Children, near a forest from an isolated village! As a player we know that Oot!Link was a hylian and it was because of the civil war and his mother that he grew up in the forest. But Ganondorf doesn’t, and for him maybe anyone could turn into the hero, even a human. It’s a subtle nudge, but given that the Hero of Time never came to be in this timeline, this is a worthy way of hinting to Oot!
Wind Waker straight tells us the legend of Oot, going as far as making direct mention to the Hero of Time and the sages. It’s clear that it takes after Oot in a way that also makes it clear that it takes place in a separate Timeline!
A Link to the Past isn’t as straight forward, and since it came out before Oot it can’t show any subtle hints. But going with what we have, it makes it obvious that it stands in its own timeline!
One thing that proves this, is the mention of the seven sages. Like in WW and TP the mention of the seven sages is an important step to defend the Evil King, that is also tied to the prophecy of the Hero of Time! So there is at least the hint that Oot took place before Alttp, the mentioned of seven wise man instead of seven sages could mean that Oot!Link didn’t even manage to awake the original sages, leading to the Imprisonment War! And I want to elaborate on the word War in this! This took timeframe took probably years, and in the end Hyrule only survived barely!
Alttp is a dark mirror to WW’s legend! Is not a happy story, nor is it one that can be told as a victory! It’s told simple and plain with shame in it. Many things aren’t exactly clear, like when did the Hero of Time died in this timeline? What exactly was the fate of the sages, or are the seven men even the sages?
But given all that happened to the Kingdom of Hyrule, as make sense that the story their would told, held not as much importance as later the Legend of Alttp!Link would be treated. The kingdom was dying, there were losing and in time of surviving a kid who died trying saving them wasn’t news that could give hope.
——————-….——————….—————-
I have nothing more to add to this, maybe someone may find my thoughts process somehow interesting.

I think it’s save to say that the chain is somehow in the Downfall-timeline. The enemies, the statues outside the dungeon, etc…
But my question is, in which Era are they now? Since they cross the first gate in shady escape pt4, they landed in the Downfall-timeline.
And I know JoJo will not mention or tell it, but that has never stopped me. Personally I think they are in the Golden Era or at the very end of the Era of Decline.
Do any of you guys have any guesses?
So can we talk about this?
Ever since I read this phrase it stuck out to me in kind of a weird way.
Why is Time talking shit about his younger self so hard?
Man where even is the evidence? Playing through OoT and MM, especially in MM Time has to do all the hard work, solving everyone’s problems and conflicts. In OoT that’s his first adventure, over the whole game he is a 10 year old child and still has to carry the world.
Am I reading too much into this? Probably. Is this still important to me because I really want to know what Times thinks of himself? Yes.
If you ever write that fic please let me know! I love to read more about Mask and Time

Tbh the whole plot of Oot (pre!Time skip or when Link was send back in time) from an Outsider’s perspective is actually kinda "funny". The king is managing peace with all the tribes good enough, and now the King of the Gerudos came personally, only for this random kid, who came out of the forest on a random Thursday, to start accusing said Gerudo King.

Hyrule Encyclopedia will look me dead into my tiered brown eyes an honestly trying to tell me that the Hero’s Shade is a Stalfos…
Time-angst-things I would love to see more content of.
1. Bully-trauma:
Time had been bullied as a child for his lack of a fairy-partner. In game it’s mostly shown by Mido calling him names, but due the Kokiri immediately blaming Link for the Deku Trees death, I take that Link got literally excluded, bullied out of things, or had to take the blame for things he didn’t do. His lack from expressions in game as es his distance personality in LU could be explained more as a coping mechanism, and the inability to show his true emotions. Since a reaction is what bully’s want the most out of their victims, Link had learned from a concerning young age to keep it all well hidden.
Sometimes I like to think of what some LoZ games have in common or how some parallel each other in interesting ways. And for some reason I can’t stop thinking about Oot/MM and Botw/Totk.
Child Botw!Link at 12 year-old, who’ll get into action 5 years in the future, draws the Master Sword without any consequences.
Ghost Child Oot!Link as an 10 year-old, who had to be put into a coma because their be needed 7 years later, watching Botw!Link draw the sword: For real?!
.
.
.
Ghost Oot!Link sitting next to unconscious Botw!Link at the shrine of resurrection: That’s what I thought.
