All of my friends that work at wildlife rehab centers have had to untangle animals from this stuff, or had animals brought in that died in it. This is especially nasty for small owl species.

Why would you put fake spiderwebs outside your home anyways? Do what my family does and use them as indoor decorations, it's easier to clean up that way and it makes the living room look cool.

Does Decorative Spider Webbing Pose a Danger to Wildlife?

The classic Halloween decor can be a silent threat to furry friends if displayed unsafely.

"As autumn advances, leaves begin to fall from trees and a chill runs through the air, making it increasingly clear the spooky season is upon us. But as people decorate for Halloween, they may be setting up a trick rather than a treat for surrounding critters: That fake spider webbing commonly seen across the country every October is just as effective at trapping critters as a real web is.

Kathryn Dudeck, the wildlife director at Georgia's Chattahoochee Nature Center, told Snopes via phone that fake spider webbing, normally made out of a synthetic, fiber-like polyester, is similar to tightly woven fiberglass.

"The webbing actually adheres to the skin of a toad," she said. "For raptors and songbirds, it sticks to their feathers and then settles in between them, almost like velcro." ...

Dudeck said that animals most at risk with fake cobwebs are small birds, including hummingbirds and small owls, bats and reptiles, like toads...

The danger of fake webs doesn’t immediately go away after Halloween, either. A 2019 article from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation explains that if not properly disposed of, birds might use the material to build their nests. In a worst-case scenario, the webbing could catch and trap any chicks in the nest. The solution to all of this is fairly easy: stop using fake webs outside.

Instead, consider moving the webbing indoors, perhaps behind a window so it’s still visible. If you are set on creating a web outdoors, Dudeck recommended making one out of rope and ensuring you've left ample space between strands to mitigate the risk to wildlife."

Shatner ending his sentence to the LGBTQ+ people with “keep on queerin’” is how I believe he should end all of his sentences, not just the ones to the LGBTQ+

Just to clarify, William Shatner has had this stance for years... yet he's not actually supportive. Rant incoming.

To break it down, here's the original article I was referring to from this year on Pink News where Shatner says "Keep on Queerin'"

Within that article they mention this article where Shatner had lashed out at many queer fans for suggesting the idea of Kirk, a character, being bisexual as it had been meaningful for them to see Kirk representing queer people, however Shatner vehemently refused this idea with the logic that the show wouldn't have been made if they had done that back in the 60s... yet, strangely, it's not the 60s anymore.

Plus in that article it mentions how Takei had been able to bring up the idea of having an episode around queer themes which was shot down by Roddenberry because of ratings (which were at the time and to this day helped all because of the people making zines and slash fiction).

Moving on to the transphobia, Shatner got in a twitter fight back in 2020 which he refused to back down from on the topic of the word Cis/Cisgender. He stated that this word is a slur and then fought back when people replied saying it wasn't (and it isn't, because it's not a word rooted in and created to perpetuate the violence and murder of a group of people). Here's an article that follows the thread as clearly as I could find, it however is written to lean in his favour, but if you actually read how this man is responding you can see how he's not given two shits about trans people and rather than doing his own research into the neologism that was created to help not ostracize, he decided to fight a bunch of trans and non binary people on twitter.

One of the best examples in that article of just how little he's actually thinking is this

Deconstructing this he's first talking about sexism, then homophobia, both of which are things that both cisgender and transgender individuals experience because in those situations listed they're being attacked for a different part of their identity as a person, not for the fact that they're cis... which was supposed to be his whole point.

Furthermore, Shatner has been falling in and out with the majority of his Star Trek co-stars for decades for various reasons... Which I don't feel like going into detail about right now but here's a brief screen rant article that goes over them.

I'm tired of thinking about this man so I won't get in depth about how he's saying "NOT POLITICAL" while having his banner be Elon Musk's X logo... Plus being Canadian and a father to three women, and after having been a woman and still being Canadian, I can say for sure that they're both deeply rooted in politics because you have to fight for your rights as a person if you're not apart of what the capitalist and patriarchal society accepts (which is straight cis white rich men, so I can see why you wouldn't want to worry your little head, William).

Of course we have to start with a thank you to all the zine makers and Spirk (& Mcspirk & mlm/wlw) shippers of the 60s for keeping this show popular because although the show would have been cancelled at the time for not abiding by the hays code restrictions these women were not blocked by such things and have inspired many to seek out new tropes and new ideas and to boldly go out and be themselves.
