The Arte Sella, looks to be one of the most magical, fairytale woodlands in the world. Since 1986 this astounding destination in the Sella Valley in Italy has been dotting the landscape with the amazing works of over 200 contemporary artists from all over the world. A future holiday destination for sure!

Death of Ajax, 1820 Serrur

Think I'm weird, I don't care, but when I first got my favorite stuffed tiger, I waited to give him a name because nothing came at first. But the first night I slept with him, I received his name, Ajax, which is the name of a great Greek warrior from the Iliad and Trojan War.

But here's the crazy part. Recently in my art history class I was introduced to this painting of Ajax and I was lost for words. I swear, I know I've met this man before... I can't explain the nostalgia I feel, BUT I EFFING KNOW THAT MAN!!!

I reach out for the comfort of that stuffed tiger more than any person I know. Again, think I'm crazy, but I think there's some kind of connection here...

Liu Jiyou (Chi-yu) is one of my favorite animal artists.

Combining western drawing and painting with Chinese calligraphic brush strokes, the looseness in his work is based on accurate observation and always finds a pose that reveals the animal's characteristics. His compositions are very unique and interesting. He was a real master of his craft.
