Woman who hasn't been held in a decade: oh I'm pretty low maintenance, yeah honestly I think I'd find that overwhelming or something, can I just hold your hand instead? If that's okay of course?
Woman who feels ill at the notion of taking up space: yeah I can stand. Yeah honestly it's no biggie I like standing. Do you mind if I lean here? It's okay to say no.
Woman who would rather die than be considered selfish: I'm really sorry to ask I'm probably just being annoying but could I ask for another pillow? Yeah there isn't one in the room. Yeah no worries I can just bunch up some towels if needed.
Woman who's most outlandish and fantastical fantasies are a coffee date and seeing a movie with someone: oh I don't get out much. Yeah I don't really like being around people. I'm pretty much an introvert. Or something like that yeah.
Woman who would break down screaming and crying if someone showed even a hint of affection in person, who would fall apart at the seams if you held her still and asked her if she was okay, woman who if allowed too would wrap herself around you and sob and weep until she became severely dehydrated: oh yeah sorry I spaced out for a second there. Yeah I'm doing alright.
I think one of the gentlest things in the world is when a friend just gets your weird little brain. like you say half a sentence and they finish it. you reference something incredibly niche from seven years ago and they’re already nodding. they understand your strange vocabulary for emotions that don’t have real words yet. it’s being seen and known and still loved. maybe especially because you’re known. god. what a gift.
National Theatre is streaming their rendition of The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde this week for free on YouTube. The production is a delight.
This show is one I constantly return to as a theatre educator for middle/high school, and it is MUCH better enjoyed when performed rather than on paper.
Whatever the opposite of rolling in his grave is, Oscar Wilde is doing it
I just found out they also have accessible BSL (British Sign Language) and audio description versions. The closed captioning has also been done correctly (a bare minimum many YouTube videos do not meet).
being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?
First thing you see after you zoom in is how you die

I made a wheel for this for better randomising.
this is some kind of eldritch beast to me
Hello Red!
I just had the pleasure of watching the newest video and your beepbeep bit delights me to no end, as it is something i do for myself when crowds are thick and unmoving and just hitting people's shins with my cane would be considered "assault" and not "effective strategy for getting to where i need to be"
I was wondering if it would be possible to have that frame signed, since just getting a screenshot works but i don't like having unsourceable piece of art in case they end up getting shared around. (If its too much trouble that's perfectly fine)
Thank you and I hope you have a delicious pastry soon
what a delightful ask! here is your signed frame as requested, may it serve you well in your shin-smacking ventures
Gotta love the You’re Gonna Love Me parody, Cynthia killed it
My main takeaway from the Real Women Have Curves Tony number was that it was upbeat and the energy was good.
Operation Mincemeat looks like it’s fun! Was struggling to follow the lyrics but I’m not during if that was the performance or the sound mixing
You can’t pick any song besides Rose’s Turn for your Tony performance, I’m so glad they went with it because the biggest draw for the revival is seeing Audra play Rose so you want to see her do The Song and now everyone who can’t make it to NY or pay for Broadway prices can see the Big Dramatic Number
Maybe it was the specific songs they went with but ngl, was not vibing with the Dead Outlaw Tony performance. Beyond the different sections clashing tonally for me, the lyrics in several parts also fell flat.
Cynthia Erivo and Sara Bareilles’s voices compliment each other so well, the harmonies were gorgeous
I’m glad the situation is different than it was last time, but imho even though the Hamilton performance had the weight of ten years behind it, this performance just doesn’t have the same impact as their original Tony performance ten years ago when they chose to do the Battle of Yorktown without any of the guns after the Orlando shooting earlier that day. There was an emotional impact this can’t replicate, thank goodness but still.
