my emotions are a sad friend. sometimes I need to sit with them and listen, sometimes I need to give them a warm blanket and some warm tea and just be there. sometimes I get them a bowl of ice cream and watch comforting studio ghibli films and let them sleep earlier so they feel more rested in the morning. if they act out of line, i do my best to forgive them, because I understand they’re human, they’re carrying wounds and they aren’t themselves sometimes. i don’t avoid them or tell them to go away. i tell them it’s okay and if they need someone, i’m here for them and they’re welcome here.

does anyone else ever think about people who have been important in your life in some way, and just wish you could message them and say ‘i saw this and thought of you’ or ‘i think about you all the time and i keep sending good thoughts your way and i want you to know that i care about you a lot’, but either that person is no longer in your life, or that you feel that if you did that, it would almost be overwhelming for them so sometimes you try not to care as much and then it all gets confusing
