My first time operating CCTV cameras I was handed control over what was essentially 50 independently moving eyes that collectively covered an area about the size of a football field and from that experience I now know that

Suddenly having 50 moving eyes can make you disoriented and barfy and the adjustment period sucks ass

It takes both more and less time than you’d think to figure out what the structure as a whole looks like and where those eyes ARE

After you get used to it the entirety of the structure itself and all of the eyes you can see from feels like an extension of your nervous system in a very bizarre way. Like I have dreams now from the perspective of A Building and I’m not sure how to describe that.

Once you are aware of an unreachable blind spot it nags at you constantly and you can feel it like a hard little lump under your skin you need to poke and scratch at and it’s ardghgguychgghhbhhhbhhh

In settlers league and most like core game soon there will be an NPC called faustus who can list currency for a gold fee (gold is untradable), with instant buyouts. That makes it much easier to consolidate all these smaller currencies into a bigger and better currency like divine orbs without having to manually message players.

Divine orbs and chaos orbs are the standard. Your chaos are your $1 bill and the divine is more like your $100 bill (actual conversion rate is much different and fluctuates). Use these in 95% of trades and people will be much happier with you.

For actual gear items, use the pathofexile.com/trade site. There are a lot of ways to find good upgrades at cheap prices, mostly involving "pseudo totals" which calculate the effective bonus rather than the literal. IE. A normal search for 30 fire resistance search only shows items with 30+ fire resistance specifically. Pseudo fire resistance search counts other mods too, so you might be shown items with 15 fire resistance and 15 all resistance.

When you want to buy something on the trade site you click a button and it automatically whispers or copys a whisper command into your clipboard. You send that message, they invite you to a group, you join their hideout and trade manually. Or they ignore your message and you have to message like 10 people to get a response.

I'd you are playing in standard league you will likely have a lot less players willing to trade for small items. New leagues have the most active economies.

The new league starts next week so you should probably make a league character when that starts and the game will at peak player count so plenty of people to trade with as you progress

Every time I mention plans to play an old Sonic game, people seem to fall over themselves to recommend mods to improve the games and make them less irritating. But that's missing the point to me? I want to play the games as close to the original release as possible. I'm not looking to sand all the edges off. I want the genuine experience, so I can form a solid opinion. If frustration is the name of the game, that's the game we're playing. Is that hard to understand?

What are your thoughts on card games? Especially digital ones where you buy packs. Does that fall under the same category as gacha?

I mean it's all the same idea isnt it. Card games don't even just do it digitally. Can't buy the stuff you want, have to buy booster packs, roll the dice, hope you get something special. This is a very old playbook. Digitizing it just makes it all even more pernicious. Don't need to worry about printing cards, sending them out to stores, none of that. Just keep whipping stuff up, release it every few months, the money keeps coming in. At least with card games you need other people to play against to make it feel like you have something. The gacha games we have nowadays are mostly single player affairs.

Actually the comments make a good point: with physical cards you can at least trade with other players, or even sell your cards, that's what makes them "trading" cards... No such thing with digital cards. I think in most digital card games you can at least buy cards with money if you spend enough, but again, no reselling. Very much a case where the house always wins. If you ever quit the game, or the game ever shuts down, those cards are just gonna sit there, and that money is just wasted. Like I said, pernicious.

That’s why I play legends of runeterra where you can get all the cards for free and I have like 90% of the entire collection of all cards despite not spending a single dollar on the game , you can’t buy card packs and they heavily limit the amount of cards you can buy with money , it’s probably the most free to play friendly online ccg out there
