So We're Not Heroes; We're Still Survivors: Director's Commentary master post

Hi Friends!

Welcome to the master post for my So We're Not Heroes commentaries. I will be going chapter by chapter and adding background and other random comments to celebrate hitting Chapter 15 (out of 20). If that's something that sounds cool to you, watch this space (literally). Links to individual chapters will be posted below the cut.

For those of you who don't know, So We're Not Heroes; We're Still Survivors is an Agathario Star Wars AU set post-Order 66 where both of our girls are Jedi. It is largely a reimagining of the canon Agatha All Along story, but does extend a little beyond canon. So there are not many spoilers if you've watched the show, but hopefully you'll be satisfied enough by how I wove it together. If Star Wars is not your thing, this is definitely not a Star Wars story, it's an AgathaRio story set in Star Wars.

SUMMARY: Teen sits down next to her. “Do you wanna talk about it?” Agatha very much does not. How exactly would she even start, anyway? Just ‘oh yeah Rio and I used to be in a super secret sexy Jedi marriage and then our child died and we haven’t seen each other until the other night when she tried to take my head off with an Inquisitor’s lightsaber but I brought her here to help with this job even though I’m not sure I ever really know who she was if she’s willing to work for the Empire now but I’m doing it anyway because I’ve spent years in the furthest parts of the galaxy trying to forget her and now that we are on the same planet I can’t keep away for another second’? Yeah, that would go over great. -- OR -- the Star Wars AU where Agatha and Rio are Jedi, and then Order 66 happens and things fall apart.

Welcome to Monkleya Week - a week-long fan event celebrating the relationship between Kleya Marki and Mon Mothma from the Star Wars tv series 'Andor' :-)

How It Works

Each of the seven days has a general theme, then within that there are a set of prompts to choose from. These prompts are there to hopefully inspire creativity, but are absolutely not mandatory. If there is something else within the theme you feel like writing instead - go for it!

Participants are not expected to create something for every day (unless you want to). Feel free to pick and choose what interests you, or even combine the prompts.

Multi-chapter stories are welcome and do not have to all be posted in one go! I just ask that you post the first chapter on the day that corresponds with the selected prompt.

Posting will begin at 6am (your own timezone) on Monday the 7th of September and run for seven days. That said, late submissions are still welcome! I understand people are busy and it's not always possible to get things posted on a deadline.

An AO3 collection will be created for gathering fics or any other works that can be posted there — I'll post the link to that closer to the event.

it really is kind of interesting how attached people are to the idea of the improvised line and the genuine reaction in film. nearly every single famous moment or line has some sort of claim floating around that it wasn't in the script and was either made up on the spot by an actor or was sprung as a surprise on the actors to get their 'real' reaction. you know, sometimes people do come up with good lines in advance and write them down, and sometimes people can pretend to be have a convincing emotional response on screen

Every time someone mentions H.G. Wells I have to readjust to his pronouns because I accidentally internalised the canon of a 00s Syfy show where he's secretly a woman.
