(An SFM poster I made for a server event I'm participating in.)
I don't see many Hollow Knight: Silksong post-game AUs involving moments where Lace deals with the weight of having been a murderer.
We do know from the Caretaker that Lace has definitely dropped a lot of bodies within the Citadel's halls, and it could very well be what spawned the manic and sadistic mannerisms we see from her throughout the game's events in the first place. While we were given an idea of why she is doing this from an outsider's perspective, I like to think that Lace sees committing acts of violence against others as some sort of bizarre coping mechanism—to give herself more purpose in what she considers to be a fleeting and wasting existence—but it only caused her to grow more mentally insane with each life she has taken. Not to mention, she could very well be slaughtering many Pilgrims, too, since we have seen her outside the Citadel.
While Lace does have all the time in the world to rehabilitate and get used to being her own person after Act 3's ending, if she wishes to improve, she is going to have to confront the uncomfortable fact that she still has blood (or hemolymph, in this case) on her silken hands, be it from the constant internal battles she might have with herself or the fear and hate within the faces and words of families + loved ones she tore apart without any care. Murder is not something one can easily forget or get over with because the guilt and bulk of it has the potential to haunt Lace for wyrm knows how long, especially if she continues to live in Pharloom as it recovers from the devastation left behind by the kingdom's near collapse.
Again, it's a fascinating idea that I don't see many touching on in their post-game AU, and I'd love to see her Void-possessed self being the form Lace's inner demon assumes, given she is the symbolic manifestation of her at her absolute worst, at least from my point of view.
I made this at like 3 am and have almost no memory of it uhhhhh

More of her
For anyone who are fans of both the Doom franchise and ULTRAKILL, and seeing how InV1rno (V1 x Hell Itself) has been popping off lately, I propose a crackship idea. 👀

I think it is funny that some people think that the V1 marionette Hell was controlled by Hell itself behind the scenes when we literally see who was puppeteering it the moment the lights flicker after getting the Blue Skull.
Hey! I just wanted to let you know that I reported your account when I meant to report someone else. It was a mistake, and I hope it didn’t cause any problems. If you want to see the ticket Tumblr sent me, let me know I can’t message you directly for some reason.
How about you see deez nuts?

our own patron saint of one way trips
I like the Pale King, and do not subscribe to the fandom's negative perception of them. Yes, they were a ruler and yes they made extreme decisions. However, I am sympathetic to his plight and while they may eventually have left rather than died, I believe they did everything they could for the good of their kingdom and the prosperity of all bugs, whether they were under his protection or not.
Hornet may call him a fool to try and use the Abyss, but even as he was exacting his worst actions he let her be her own and never tried to bind her into service, nor did he exile her when she didn't conform.
I like to imagine that, tragically, he failed to be heartless with the Hollow Knight and allowed them to love him, which eventually allowed the Radiance to start corrupting them.
.
Hornet's lines there really have to be seen in the context of her feelings about her own misshap. (I haven't seen anyone take the rather negative descriptions of everything void-related to mean that she hates hates her siblings)
[trying her hardest to keep it together since she no time for existential crisis & needs to fix the problem] "Don't be like me, Nuu! I'm a fuckup from a long line of fuckups"
"...are you ok miss grownup?"
Yes, they were a ruler
So is every other authority figure in the setting. It's all kings, queens, lords, princes etc. They don't invoke that against anyone else.
It's almost as if a fantasy story is supposed to be simple, archetypical, emotionally cathartic & what's juicy & cathartic in a story is different from what's effective irl.
It just smacks of "Oh no, this silly video game made me feel complex emotions! Make it black & white! Make it black & white! Scramble for convoluted extraneous extrapolations that make it black & white, & use vaguely political terms so it sounds convincing & rightheous"
Really makes you aware of the strong need for a simple black-and-white, emotionally simple world that some ppl have. Can't even tolerate complexity in a fantasy story that you're engaging with for recreation.
Personally disliking or not forgiving 1 character is one thing (very subjective thing to which there's no 'correct' answer) but its another to massively distort all the rest of the story, setting & themes because this one guy to be a simplistic baddy with not even a partial, imperfect merit to his position whatsoever.
Like, even he didn't think actions were great; He did something even he thought was ugly & nasty at great personal cost because the alternative was total annihilation.
It's a refusal to engage with the possibility that a basically competent & well-intentioned person could make an honest error, or be driven to throw their morals overboard by desperation, to refuse to empathize with fallibility, or to entertain the basic premise of a tragedy, where someone tries their best according to their limited abilities & knowledge but things still go wrong.
Honestly, all of this Pale King talk makes me wonder how the Blackwyrm is going to contrast from its counterpart in your story.
No idea! Probably won't be as deep >< but who knows! I look forward to introducing her more and more as the story progresses
Given that we know that the Pale King has experimented with the Void, maybe the Blackwyrm was the result of one of those experiments going terribly awry and forcing him to send the Five Great Knights to incapacitate her.
You know, something similar to the origin of Godzilla, especially in the kaiju's Japanese films.
