Intro!

Hello! I'm Crimson,my pronouns are he/him and they/them. I'm non-human! I believe I'm a wolf shifter and Sang-vampire! However I'm always questioning some other stuff such as psychic abilities, theriotypes and more. My belief stands on that we can only be something that we are born as. However I do believe that in our generation and over time, the genes between other nonhumans have been mixed. So no, I don't care if you say I can only be one thing. Everything is possible in this universe!

A few days ago, I experienced a p-shift. I was just doing something, looked up, and noticed my eyes were starting to change. At the same time, it felt like my arms was changing.

I been so disconnected from p-shifting., I decided to "restart" my journey. (more like step back and just started researching some more)

I know a lot of p-shifters believes that our hair color does have a impact on what our forms would look like.

However I have brown hair, technically a Brown phase wolf would fit me better. However that now raise a new question. I wonder if wolf shifters would have this form, or would they "Phase"(in time, they lose their color as the age and shed)?

as someone who’s had a deep interest in biology and genetics their whole life and is going to school to enter the field, something that’s been on my mind with the pshifter community is the genetic theories for pshifting…

I’ve seen quite a few of them mention a single specific gene that could be responsible for pshifting but I feel it would be more complicated than that. Something like pshifting may require multiple gene expressions to be present, which might be why there are some pshifters who never fully shift, polyshifters, etc. Things like codominance expressed and spread within multiple genes would definitely explain the diversity of shifter species, ability, etc instead of just simply “you have it or you don’t”

I think in discussions about whether or not pshifting or even just physical nonhumanity (such as claims of having nonhuman dna) is “genetically possible” many people are also unaware of how genetics works. People only focus on the outside because that is what we can see, phenotypically all of us “look human” but that doesn’t account for the rest of the DNA making up our person. Your appearance is only a small part of your full genome, and while some ‘human’ genomes have been studied, most have not, so saying for certain that someone being biologically other than human is “impossible” is not something that can truly be proven.

I also feel like if you understand just how similar humans are to other animals, right down to bone structure, the idea of someone being able to physically present as one really doesn’t seem that far fetched, at least to me. We already have the main building blocks that thousands of other species do too, it’s not like we are humans trying to turn ourselves into mollusks.

It’s a quiet dream of mine to be able to use my schooling to study pshifters, if no one else at least myself, in an effort to truly understand. There is still so much unknown about us and I would love to give back to the community through research.

yes, its accurate for sure. Ive also personally looked and that was the truth -- we split in half back in the old days. Although there were other groups that were spiritual, they were nowhere near as founding as AHWW was. (Elves, and i think dragons were the otherkin communities that the spiritual therians merged with back in the day this is something im not sure about.)

They didnt exactly use the term physical therian though -- they called themselves weres with weresides. Or lycanthropes. (both groups called themselves therians back then. These are newer terms from later on.) Or whatever its been a minute. But the shapeshifting half of the community has experienced minimal change over the last twenty years while the other therian group has grown and kind of exploded and modernized.

And with modernization there has been quite a bit of muddying of the waters, understanding outside of the communities by those who have seen it, annnd lots of inauthenticity (even recently a de-stigmatization of p-shifters and shapeshifters but theres still lots of time to fully break down that stigma.)

What do you think of the therian community claiming that they know the realities of p-shifting on various therian forums? I’m a questioning wolf physical shifter here.

I think it's a bit presumptuous of them. There are ways that it wouldn't work due to the laws of physics and the way biology is set up here, but I don't think it rules out any and all cases of physical shifting, especially with claims of it happening in the past and even present-day claims of dogmen shapeshifting.

A lot of discussions about p-shifting on therian forums also feels more geared towards shutting it down as a possibility, rather than thinking of ways it could be possible - not that it would inherently be helpful for most therians to entertain it, but from what I've seen many therians are dismissive of anything that isn't becoming a full genetic animal (they seem to lose interest in p-shifting if it's not a 1:1 transformation into their theriotype?) only to talk about how it's scientifically impossible, as if it's the only way shifting could ever occur. I understand why they do this, but I don't think they've disproven it as well as they've hoped.

it's genuinely frustrating that our discussions of real shit keeps being strung about by one-sided anon replies instead of real spaces to communicate. it is not helping. please, if you want to know more about pshifting - ASK US! just get off anon, ask us, and keep engaging with the community to learn.

i know lurking is very common and many are afraid of the backlash of being associated with shifters, but i promise you, we will not hurt you and you can't keep making new accounts to communicate with us if you really want to learn. ill just be blocking in my corner, because it's uncomfortable and triggers my paranoia..

things are getting kind of scary to be a therian. Right-wing influences are increasingly taking notice of and demonising alterhuman communities, mostly as a way to demonise transgender folks through comparison to us.

as a transgender werewolf: we’re not going away. We’re not backing down, folding ourselves in and pretending to be happy with the box our biologies placed us in. If there is marching in the streets of my city, marching for trans and/or alterhuman rights and safety, I will be right there, screaming at the top of my lungs.

I’ve seen the ai slop of therians being killed, being burned to death in Guatemala. I’ve seen the (ironically) dehumanising caricatures. I’ve heard people in real life wishing for the most awful shit imaginable to happen to those like me. I’ve seen the death threats, hell, I’ve gotten some myself. It’s not easy to embrace who you are, but maybe existing and persisting not just despite, but in spite of those wishing us dead or worse is the least we can do right now.

if you’re feeling unsafe at home, school or in the community, please reach out to someone you feel safe with. You don’t have to hate yourself into a version they can tolerate, but don’t put yourself in a situation you can’t get out of for the worse.

I know it’s scary right now. Increasing awareness of alterhumanity means increasing scrutiny upon and cruelty of this little bubble of community and understanding.

I’ll do anything to protect this community. I’m scared, more than anything I’m scared. But we can’t back down now.
