“It’s my smoke break. Don ‘t bother”
“I’m not going to kill you. Just break your bones”
OPEN; Teddy
“Dude I’m tripping major balls, are you as fucked up as I am?” he asked as he sat down on his bed and he rested his elbows on his knees looking up at the other.
“Come on, don’t be a pussy!” He chuckled. “It’s just ecstasy”
“Well – I can do talking.” Nick swirled his glass, looking at his drink for a brief second before turning his attention towards Poseidon. Maybe talking wasn’t on the top of his priority list, but the man had offered him a drink and he was easy to look at. Way better than some of the clientele present at the bar at the time. “Well, if I’m the first person that is trying to get into your pants and crack silly ass jokes while we share drinks – the rest of the world is a bunch of sheep. The end of the war shook everyone.” Him included but his past was not up to discussion, not now nor ever. “You seem quite stable to me. Unless that’s just an act and you’re secretly a hot serial killer that will maim me with an axe. If that is not the case – I think you’re fine, bro.”
“I survived the Hunger Games” He said as he took a gulp of his drink. “By the age of 10, I knew how to use a knife to fight. By thirteen nobody beat my aiming. By 15, I killed 8 people” He said quietly. He knew he may be too honest, but he wanted to tell him the truth.
“I know this is too much” He said making a pause. “People usually go away when they find out about me. They think I’m not okay, and probably I will never be” He made a pause.
“I prefer knives for combat. They are easy to carry” He said jokingly.
“We were all awkward when we were younger. I only started to worry about the way I look when I was in my twenties. Now, I’m on my early thirties and I can say that I never looked better. With – and without clothes.” Maybe he was sounding vain but Nick was fully aware of how good he looked. He took great pride on his appearance and that simply wouldn’t change. Plus, Poseidon was hot. What was the wrong in flirting a little bit?
“Lucky, uh? Maybe I should hit the nearest casino to check if I’m lucky? Or maybe you could spare me the embarrassment of potentially losing and tell me if I am lucky or not. Or in a third option – we could always play strip poker. If I’m lucky, I’ll get those clothes out of you. If I’m unlucky, you’ll be lucky cause you’ll get all these clothes outta me.”
“You are quite attractive, that’s for sure” He commented as he took a sip of his whiskey. Poseidon looked at him affably. He was used to people flirting with him since he was fourteen. He didn’t look uncomfortable but not impressed either. He was quite amused by the man’s attitude. He was witty and quite intelligent.
“I’ve gotten my clothes several times before” He said smiling. “But I haven’t had the chance to talk to someone for years” He stated. “You are the first person that talks to me like this” He said placing his glass on the counter. “Many people think I was not okay after war ended” He commented.
Attractive and smart. Wasn’t that the jackpot of jackpots? Not that he lived solemnly for flirting but he had to be blind, tasteless and borderline retarded if he wouldn’t flirt with Poseidon. “Cute name. Does it match the rest of the package?” Offering his hand, the blond gave Poseidon a smile as a thank you for the drink. It would be highly rude to don’t offer his thanks. “Nick Hawley.”
“Trust me. It was kind of awkward when I was a child and a teenager” He commented affably. He remembered the nicknam e he got when he was a teen and became a victor. The people from the capitol called him ‘The king of the Ocean’.
“Oh, well. There are only few who are lucky to find out” He chukled and shook his hand.
“You know… Usually when a attractive guy such as yourself is buying me drinks…” Nick accepted the beer and nodded towards the other man. “They usually want a different sort of party that doesn’t necessarily require clothes. If that is your plan… you could at least give me your name.”
“Thanks for the compliment...” He commented smiling. “I just like coming here after work to have a drink. I never refuse those who need one” He commented. “My name is Poseidon Betram” He quickly introduced himself.
“Well… fuck it. Must be five pm somewhere across the globe so there’s nothing wrong in one drink. Or ten.”
“Be my guest...” He said offering the man a beer.
“Of course you are drugged,” Eric remarked with a small chuckle. “Consider it a blessing.” It wasn’t funny at all, but he was glad Poseidon could still manage a smile.
“Two and a half days. I’m surprised you woke as early as you did.” Eric traced his fingers absentmindedly along the fabric of the chair, glad the nightmare was over – at least for right now. It was never over over. Being a mentor was a punishment, for he had to watch others endure what he had. Now Poseidon would be caught up in that lovely circle, but they could think about that later.
“I think we already are in Hell,” he answered, giving a small shrug.
"I'm going to have margaritas with Satan, then" He said trying to light the mood of the moment. Getting up from bed was hard. He tried walking but he stumbled clumsily. It was hard keeping his balance. He tried moving but the world was just a swirl of colors and shapes. Poseidon did his best to hold to a nearby chair. He took a couple of breaths and used the wall for support.
"Don't you dare to laugh at me" He warned Eric. Poseidon resembled a baby horse that was learning how to walk properly. He looked around trying to find the bathroom. He felt the need to use the toilet badly. Yet, he was too proud to ask for help. Poseidon was too proud for his own good.
"Where is the bathroom?" He asked difficulty. "I gotta take a leak and clean myself" He spoke.
Reblog if you are a mun who is 18+ and will not smut with minors.
Maybe she shouldn’t have been surprised by his almost nonchallant words; crass and snarky, attitude resembling a great deal to her own idiotic one — but she was because people, even victors, very rarely had the guts to speak to her like that. She was famous for her unpredictability; you never knew what you’d get with Johanna Mason and she had had tried to claw Enobaria’s eyes out for less once. A shame that Finnick had been there to get her off of the woman then… Anyway, the boy was either reckless or stupid. And Jo had seen his Games, so she already knew that he wasn’t stupid. “ WOW. The kitten has claws, huh? ” she asked with obvious amusement now, watching as he took the shot.
The prescence of the Avox made her soften her expression for a moment before she noticed the longish jewelry box in his hands. Johanna knew instantly what it meant and the thought filled her with DISGUST. “ Well, I might have a shitty personality but at least nobody sends me gifts,” she said after the Avox was gone, emphasizing the last word in order for her true meaning to be clear.
"Do you think you are a nutcase? Probably you are. But guess what? Every victor is. Sure, there are some who let themselves into misery and go wiping around every corners. Others, attempt to pretend they have a normal life. We know they would never do it" He commented. "There is another group who resource to alcohol and drugs. And there is a final group who use violence." He made a pause.
"Seven, you are not as unique as you think you are. You are just another loner in this golden cage" He added.
When he called her kitty, he just grinned. Poseidon didn't say a word. He just walked calmly as he held the bottle on his hand. His knife on the other hand. He twirled it swiftly. It was just like if the weapon was another extension of his body.
"Am I supposed to be feel offended or embarrassed? Because you are doing a failing miserably, seven. You should try harder" He took a sip and looked at her biting his lower lip. He stood in front of her. Then, he whispered in her ear.
"At least I have a reason to accept those gifts...I guess you don't anymore." He said with a discreet smile on his face.
“SHINY.” Mal commented, glad that the kid was making himself useful, he was taking in his surroundings, USING them to his advantage. If the situation hadn’t been somewhat tense, he might have even admitted how impressed he was, but now wasn’t the time to get mushy and sentimental, there would be PLENTY of time for chit chat once they were back on Serenity and had the confounded CORE PLANET they stood on fading away in the background.
“Ta Ma De Hun Dan… we gotta get movin’.” He suddenly spoke, carefully trying to usher the boy through the crowds a little QUICKER as the guards began to pick up their pace. FINALLY, the Captain turned and started to pull several containers and boxes onto the ground behind them, trying his best to at least slow the Feds down. “RUN.”
Suddenly, he started running, creating a space for Poseidon behind him as he barged his way through the masses of people, catching a very WELCOME sight in the distance. “See that there BEAUTY?” He called over to the youngster as he hurried, gesturing a transport ship not too far from where they were. “We get on board, we’re SHINY.”
"Your legs are larger than mine, you kn0w? I have to make an effort to keep it with you" He joked trying to make the mood lighter. For a boy of his age, Poseidon moved quite fluent. He tried to use as many objects as he could to make the guard slower. He didn't know if they could lose the guards. Yet, there was no option. If they caught them, they would not make it out.
From the corner of his eye, he spotted a guy aiming his gun at Mal. The boy didn't think it twice before grabbing a knife and throwing it full speed at the man's hand. The man cried out in pain but it stopped him from shooting. The crowd quickly scattered. There was people running everywhere. Poseidon did his best to stay behind Mal. It was not only after several minutes later, it seemed they finally lost them.
"Wow!" He said visibly impressed. "Is it yours?" He asked as he looked at the ship in awe.
Sam was just about to open his mouth to ask another question when Poseidon spoke again, they want you to come with me next time, and he almost tripped over his own feet in surprise. “They do? They told you that I… see sponsors?” That was about the last thing Sam expected.
In his experience, they tried to keep it all HUSH amongst the districts. Threatened to put his siblings’ names in for the Reaping a hundred times each if he talked about it at home. And he couldn’t imagine the Capitol telling the victors that do this about each other, or maybe they’d get bold enough to REBEL, but clearly he was wrong.
"If that's the way you want to call it. Well, they did" He made a pause. The sentence came out harsher than he intended to be. He was not angry at Sam though. He was angry at himself for selling his dignity. Yet, there was no option.
"They say we would make the perfect match. I'm brunette and you are blond" He said trying to hide his face. Sam and he were more than friends. He felt attracted to him since they were children. He let Sam know. This was more personal than he ever wanted to admit.
"At least we are together in this..." He whispered.
Playing into the role, Malcolm put his arm around the youngster as he felt him lean against his side, the charade was going well, EVIDENTLY by the very fact that the guard was beginning to close interest, perhaps believing that the two WERE simply brothers out on an average day in the marketplace. Things seemed to be going their way, and he began to usher Poseidon in the direction of Serenity, having had QUITE ENOUGH attention for one day.
But things never did seem to go without SOME KIND of hitch.
“Wong Ba Duhn…” Mal muttered under his breathed as he lifted his head to see the wanted poster flash up on the screen for everyone to observe, and it took him MERE seconds to make the split decision that they needed to get out of there, and FAST. “Come on, kid, we ain’t got the time to stick around.” He said as he began to pick up the pace, trying to ease them through the crowd as quickly as possible. “Jus’ keep lookin’ FORWARD, ‘kay? Let me worry ‘bout anyone who starts followin’ on behind.”
"Sorry, it's difficult to walk. There are many boxes and piles here, you know?" He said casually. "If they fell on the ground, they could hurt someone. And, make impossible for someone to run" The boy pointed out innocently. He hoped his new friend understood the hint. The boy was analyzing his own environment to use them in their favor.
Poseidon may be young but he was aware of what it was in risk. He could tell his savior was not a friend of his enemies. The reward for him was high. That could only meant that he was just dangerous: he was an important ally. He had to keep him safe.
He noticed a couple of men were staring at them. Poseidon had the feeling they would need to start running soon.
It didn’t take long for Mal to clock onto the nearing guard who appeared to have taken a PARTICULAR interest in the brown coat, and for GOOD reason, in the purple belly’s eyes. But before he could say anything more, the man was on him like like a bee to honey, an unforgiving heavy hand planted on the adventurer’s shoulder, although it seemed the youngster was far better prepared that Malcolm could have EXPECTED.
Turning his head to glance where the kid was pretending to look, Mal gave a nod of his head and put on his best facade when it came down to wriggling his way out of a BAD situation. “We sure can, kiddo.” He said in an upbeat manner. “I’m bettin’ it’ll look PERFECT sittin’ over the fireplace. I know momma will be real pleased.”
"Thank you! I can't wait to show it to her!" He stated as he smiled at him. The boy did his best effort to look casual. Yet, there was something in his eyes that show a deep sadness. He leaned his face against his hip and hugged him effusively. He still looked like a kid, so it didn't look weird. The guard rolled his eyes, but it seemed he bought it.
Poseidon did his best effort to walk slowly. He didn't want to blow their cover. Right now everything was going okay. Things went to hell when Mal's unmistakable face appeared on a screen on a building. The words 'wanted' below his picture. He hoped no one was paying attention to it.
