Asshole Doctors

This question is directed to my fellow chronic illness fighters, it doesn’t matter what chronic illnesses you have, I am open to all answers. Here is the question, How do you deal with a doctor saying you are lying? Here is a little background: I had neuropsych testing done today and when I got the results from the psychologist that did my testing today, they said that my tests were inconclusive and that I was lying about having anything wrong. They said I took the test too fast (we were in the room testing for 4 hours straight) and that nothing is wrong with my brain. Now most people would be happy about this, but we already know something is wrong with my memory and cognitive thinking (my other doctors know this too), this test was supposed to give us some options to treat it. Instead all I was told is that I am lying and there is nothing they can do to help. So for all you out there who have dealt with doctors who have the gall to say you are lying, how do you deal with it. It’s beyond annoying and frustrating.

I literally cannot imagine a life outside of illness. Without waking up every morning to take my pills on time so my body can work like it should, without having to keep myself from doing the things I want to do because I’ll get dizzy and nauseated later, without having to worry about when my next appointment will be.

I don’t think I know a life outside of this anymore.

When I was a child, people told me I was an old soul because of my ability to understand the world around me. Now, I’m almost 30 years old and that understanding has turned into a cynical, sarcastic humor where my coping mechanism is to make jokes about everything. Now people tell me I’m childish.

being chronically ill is really really hard. emotionally and physically. it’s hard to know you have a life full of appointments and tests and needles and procedures. it’s hard to know that each day might bring the same struggles as the day before or even be worse. being chronically ill is tough and if you are managing through it you are very very tough and i applaud you.

Social Anxiety will make you do weird things, such as holding onto an apple core for 45 minutes during a meeting because you’re too anxious to go to the trash can that’s 10 feet away

or waiting for someone else to throw out their apple core so you know it’s okay

but waiting a few minutes after they do so you don’t look like you were waiting for them

and trying not to stumble because you know everyone is watching you walk

and feeling really proud and relieved when you arrive back at your seat after having successfully thrown away an apple core like it’s a difficult task

What is it like to be hard of hearing?

Here’s how to learn in a few easy steps.

1. Turn your television on and put it at a normal, comfortable volume for you. For example’s sake let’s say it goes from 0-40 and your comfort zone is 20 for the volume controls.

2. Put it on 10.

3. Every time someone turns away from the screen and you can’t see their face, mute the TV.

4. When someone has a thick accent or mustache, drop the volume to 5.

5. If someone makes a noise behind you or there is loud noise coming from outside, mute the television again.
