Things in ROTE that give me immeasurable joy:

-Molly being such a wonderful mother to Bee. Specifically having Bee make her bed every day but having it be a task they do together because Bee is little

-Bee being so young. She is constantly taking stock of childish things like people’s favorite colors, because she is a child and that is of great importance to children.

-The fool’s wish to be a parent to Bee. He may have not predicted her in his dreams but a desire was there reaching as far back as his baby doll in his tower room

-Any time Dutiful says “this is intolerable!” Such a teen thing to say

-Nighteyes’ thing for Ketrikken

-Chade shouting “Damn and damn!” Peak vocal stim for me

-Fitz journaling to cope with his feelings and memories. Also his ink making hobby. The boy could have been a great scribe

-Etta. But specifically when she learns to read and the great joy she takes from that

-Baby Paragon and how his family is his mom, his dad’s best friend, an autistic 40 year old teenager whose special interest of God, a bracelet carved to look like his dad, and a talking ship

-Malta Vestrit going THROUGH IT and blossoming into a mature clever kinds person who is STILL excited to tell her best friend about her adventures

I’m not crying. I’m just thinking about how Fitz was there to comfort Thick. And then Thick in turn comforted Nettle in Tawny Man and then was a comfort to Bee in Fitz and The Fool. Kindness begets kindness, another one of Beloved’s circles in action
