-Your husband is worrying so much about your pregnancy and one night you try to comfort him-
Note : I might continue this drabble, probably one or two more parts in the future
You were ecstatic when you first knew about your pregnancy. You had been feeling unwell for the whole week; you hadn’t eaten much, hadn’t gotten enough sleep because you had always felt like you were about to be sick, you had slight fever here and there. Until finally your husband, Min Yoongi, felt like you had gotten enough suffering and had begged you to go see a doctor with him. He had been asking for a few times before that, of course, but you always brushed it off because you thought you were just coming down with a flu. So it was a surprise when you finally agreed to go see a doctor and was told that you were pregnant.
The pregnancy wasn’t planned at all because you both had wanted to be just the two of you for a couple of years more even though you had been married for a year. But you were still very excited about it.
It wasn’t because he didn’t want the baby, it was because the doctor had told the both of you that your pregnancy had to be watched closely. There was a reason why you had felt sick much more than the average pregnant women, and it scared Yoongi. Even though the doctor had assured that nothing bad was going to happen as long as you drank the vitamins given, Yoongi still felt like you were walking on egg shells.
One night, when you were still in the first trimester, he went home early after he noticed that morning that you had lost your appetite again. He had brought your favorite food from the restaurant the two of you went on your first date, it had been your favorite restaurant too since then. You had only eaten a bit, he frowned beside you, he had been watching you while you both ate. Then when you both went to sleep with him spooning you, you felt him missing a few hours later when you suddenly went awake. He sat on a love seat in your room, facing you. He usually liked to sit there in the lazy days you both shared, he would sat there–watching you waking up–with a cup of coffee for him and a cup of tea for you because you couldn’t drink coffee. Sometimes you were surprised that he always woke up first in those lazy days because he admitted that he wouldn’t even left the bed on his free day before he met you. He’d sat there with a slow smile on his face, hair mussed from the activity you two did the night before, his voice still raspy from the sleep, his hooded eyes watching your body slowly up and down knowing that under that thin sheet you were naked.
But that night, his eyes were clouded with worry, there was no smile on his face, the soft light of the bedside lamp shadowing his hard features brooding in the dark room. You blinked at first, wondering if he saw you awaken. When he found your opened eyes, he held his gaze for a few seconds and then looked away. Then you found the crystal glass with whiskey on the table beside the love seat, a bottle sat beside the glass. You sat up slowly.
“Don’t worry, I only drank a sip,” he said. Your husband rarely drank, you knew from the years you’ve known him. He didn’t drink soju like other people when they eat out, he didn’t go to bars, never went to clubs because he thought it wasted his time. He only drank when there were special occasions: achievements with his band, weddings(which he rarely went); he even only drank a bit of champagne on your wedding day, he always wanted to stay sober all the time. The fact that he chose to drink whiskey that night was a big deal.
“Why are you awake?” he asked you, his eyes still not on you. “Do you feel sick?” he asked again, this time strained.
“I’m awake because you’re not sleeping beside me,” you answered, your left hand unconsciously brushing your baby bump softly up and down. He noticed and you saw his lips thinned. “Yoongi, why are you awake?”
He moved his gaze to the crystal glass, as if wondering if he should take another sip to take the edge off. He didn’t. Instead he looked at you in the eyes and said, “You know why.”
You saw the desperate expression in his eyes, saw the bleakness and you felt your heart broke to pieces. You had never seen him like that. That wasn’t like him.
You crawled from the bed and kneeled on the carpeted floor in front of him. You put one hand on his knee and one hand on his face, he closed his eyes as his head leaned to your touch. He looked so fragile it broke your heart more.
“I’m okay, you know. If you worry about why I didn’t ate much this morning and tonight, it’s really because I didn’t feel like eating much. I ate too much food yesterday, remember? You saw me ate like a crazy pregnant woman yesterday, I reminded you this morning at breakfast but you didn’t trust me. I didn’t not eat much because I felt sick, but even if I did feel sick, it’s natural for the first trimester.” You said softly to him. “You always see me taking my vitamins regularly, we always go to check ups together and there are no problems with me and the baby. I’m fine. The baby’s fine.”
“I’ve been worrying so much,” he started after a few minutes of silent, his gaze holding yours. “Sometimes… I think about what would happen to me if something happen to you or the baby. I always try to throw those thoughts away, but…” he took a deep breath as his eyes started to waver. “I can’t help but think that I would be left alone, if I lose you or the baby.”
“Hey….” you stood and sat on his lap. He circled his arms on your hips, holding tight. You cupped his cheek with your hands, your thumb brushing back and forth softly to calm him. “Nobody’s going to lose anybody, okay? Stop with the imagination. Light worrying is fine, because sometimes I worry too, but no more heavy worrying, okay, honey? I don’t want to see you feeling down like this. Let’s trust the doctor to take care of this. I promise we’ll be fine. I actually am feeling really good about this pregnancy. I think he or she is going to be the best gift God give us.”
He gave you a small smile, “I think so too.”
You pecked his lips softly, “Now stop worrying and let’s get back to sleep.”
When you both went back to the bed with him spooning you from behind, he whispered, “I love you both so much.” His voice cracked a bit on the last word as he splayed his big hand on your belly under your tank top. You smiled and snuggled back to him.
“We love you too, Yoongi.” You said, and you felt his smile as he kissed the crown of your head.
