red flags w your white friends
we donāt rlly talk enough abt how damaging friendships with white people can be for poc or the warning signs that itās going to be shitty so!!! for any kids of color who donāt know where to draw the line with your white friends and their racism, these are some pretty damning warning signs.
they only come to you to talk abt racism when they wanna be assured they arenāt racist
they donāt ask you if youāre cool w explaining racism first cuz they feel entitled to your emotional labor
they donāt acknowledge tht they as a white person are inherently racist
they refer to themself as aĀ āgoodā white person
they make white people jokes
they think the extent of racism is using slurs
they get uncomfortable when you talk abt race
youāre their only/one of their only nonwhite friends
they donāt ever share/reblog/rt/etc. posts abt racism
they donāt make any efforts to actually learn abt/understand racism beyondĀ āpoc are oppressed for not being whiteā
their reaction to you telling them something they did was racist is anything other than apologizing and working to never do it again
theyāve never had a crush on any poc
theyāve only ever had crushes on poc
they try to join in when youāre discussing nonwhite experiences bc they can somehow relate
theyāre afraid of ethnic foods
they come to you when theyāre distressed expecting support but donāt return the favor
they think a poc confronting someone or standing up for themselves is āaggressiveā or any of that other coded bullshit
they victimize themself when you tell them something they did was racist, ESPECIALLY if they cry
they call a woc a bitch idgaf what she did, white people calling woc dogs is bad news
you donāt feel like you would be safe to call them out on their racism, even if it was super undeniably blatant racism
they antagonize the majority of their nonwhite ex friends
