Ace Day!

(And as for the gif.. I have no idea what anime it comes from but I’d really like to know. So if anyone does, please tell me. Thanks.)

Alright everyone! Guess what today is? Ace Day. And what does that mean? Story-time.

I am asexual and am either demiromantic or aromantic. I’ve been considering both for a year now and still have no clue as to which is more accurate. I’m also agnostic, but have more an existentialist viewpoint on things. I’m also a pessimist and get what I consider depressed for months at a time occasionally. (Though I don’t know if this would be considered SADs, depression or what, if anything. All I know is a feel horrible for a long while and eventually it goes away but doesn’t if I try and make it myself.)

I used to think that I was straight up until this time last year. I’d been wondering for a while ‘what was wrong with me?’ ‘Why wasn’t I feeling how it seemed other people thought I should?’, etc. I tried changing my ways of thinking, I tried see what the point of it all was. And yet I never did. It never did make any sense to me. Why would people care about sexual things? When there was so much more to the world than that? When I meanwhile, didn’t think about such things ever, have to have sex scenes skipped through on tv shows and movies because ‘why is this needed?’ and tried to play off talking about such topics trying to act like I at least cared a little bit.

All the while not caring at all about it and finding the discussions bothersome and uncomfortable. I honestly should have figured this whole thing out once before, but even then I didn’t. And that’s what happens. Sometimes it takes a while to figure out who you are. It takes a while to finally realize ‘hey,  there’s nothing wrong with you.’ And that’s exactly what figuring out about asexuality did for me. It helped me see that I’m not alone in my confusion. I’m not alone in my disinterest and dislike of even the idea of sex. I honestly want nothing to do with any of it. And that’s just fine. And it doesn’t make me a prude or sheltered or ‘innocent’. And don’t let anyone tell you that either. Because you’re not. If you’re asexual like I am, then it’s just how you are. There’s nothing prudish or sheltered about it. You’re you and that’s wonderful. <3 And I’m me and that’s wonderful too.

And honestly, my main goal is to make sure that awareness is spread about asexuality. Because I had no clue about it before a friend of mine mentioned it to me. And I likely wouldn’t have known if they hadn’t. I would have still felt alone, confused and angry with myself if that had happened. And that’s why I strongly feel that awareness is needed for it. And that’s why we’re here to spread it, like icing on a cake.

So let’s ice this cake together. <3

I am happy to announce that the Revised Ace Day will take place on November 26, 2015, which is also International Cake Day (seems appropriate for the ace community). This will be the date for all future Ace Day events.

So, here’s the plan:

The original method of classification via the 4 ace cards is gone. Instead, participants may pick any ace card they wish, whether it be traditional suits, tarot, or otherwise. It’s completely up to you, so make it your own as an expression of yourself! Pick your own ace card and tell us why it’s special to you!

In addition to your ace card, include a personal message, story, artwork, or whatever you want to express in reference to your orientation(s). Show the world who you are as an ace!! Emphasis on intersectionality is highly encouraged. This is an opportunity to highlight gender, race, religion, disabilities, and other communities that intersect with asexuality!

For those who will be offline due to Thanksgiving in the US that day, feel free to either queue your posts on your own blog, submit them to me for posting, or submit them to theacedayposts blog.

The acedayposts blog will also be reblogging various posts on the day of the event if you’d like to follow it and see what’s going on.

Various social media platforms will be included moreso this time around. We’ll make another attempt at trending on Twitter and have even more focus on Facebook and Instagram!

The official tag/hashtag across all platforms will be #AceDay

A series of Google Hangouts (some on-air) will be available to connect with each other on the day of the event as well.

“beauty and the beast” where beauty’s dad comes home with the rose and is like oh shit oh shit this terrible monster says i have to come live with him forever because i picked his favorite flower and beauty just goes fuck that and puts on her pants and marches down to the beast’s castle herself

and she’s expecting this horrifying dark fortress but it’s actually sort of just a normal castle with big rose bushes and furniture that’s sometimes alive

and she thinks, i can work with this

and the beast comes out and he’s like don’t look at me i am a hideous monster and beauty’s like dude you’re like a talking tiger in a cape are you kidding you’re AWESOME can i pet you can i stroke your paws can you give me a ride

and he’s like what and she goes around the castle like okay we’ll put curtains here and expand the kitchen and this could be a really cute breakfast nook

and the beast is confused because isn’t she supposed to be terrified and hate him and he had all these intimidating speeches planned and he’s like uh aren’t you going to try to run away

and beauty’s all are you kidding this is a magic castle i’m going to live here forever

so they just sort of settle in together and one day beauty goes home for the weekend to visit her family and they’re all amazed that she’s alive and her sisters go WHY DIDN’T THE HUGE MONSTER EAT YOU TO DEATH and she’s like nahhh he’s basically just a big cat he’s kind of cute actually sometimes he plays with yarn when he thinks i’m not looking

and she explains how it’s really not that bad, all the dishes wash themselves and i get all these gorgeous dresses for free because the castle doesn’t know what else to do with them and yeah there are flowers everywhere but hey that’s his hobby y’know i’m not gonna discourage that man

and then one day while beauty’s re-alphabetizing her magic library and trying to decide where to put that enchanted mirror the beast comes up and he’s like hey so this is awkward but are you like………………………………..in love with me……?????????

and beauty’s like oh uh wow haha um sorry no you’re…sort of a tiger

and the beast is like thank goodness because if you were i’d have to turn back into a human and i’ve kind of gotten used to being a big lion thing with horns and the ability to speak english for some reason like why would i want to go back to being a spindly little man and then beauty laughs and she’s like okay well can you go catch us a wild boar for dinner, dear

and they end up getting married in the end just because it’s easier to explain that way, you know, a single lady ~~living alone with a man~~ even if he’s not actually a man, and that’s fine with them because beauty was never really into the whole boys and sex thing and the beast (whose name is jeff) is honestly more interested in his flowers

and whenever any of the other ladies in the village give her any shit beauty is just like, oh, you don’t like my crepes? well you know my husband, who is literally a tiger, loves them and then everyone leaves her alone, which is really all she ever wanted

and she goes back to her magic castle and sits down with a book in front of the fire and rests her feet on her cat husband and nobody bothers her ever again

can that happen

·         Captain America: Civil War. Seriously is the best marvel movie yet in my opinion I need more.

·         Zootopia. Oh don’t mind me I’m just a movie that tackled the issue of racism and not only game changed animated films but also made a billion dollars

·         The Hamilton Mixtape is coming out. Which is a bunch of artists singing songs from the musical (Sia, Usher, Regina Spketor, etc.) I’m excited.

·         A personal victory for myself, I joined Tumblr and met angels in blog form so…that’s uplifting.

·         And I met my favorite voice actor at a con which was a bucket list accomplishment.
