Ah ha! That's what's these cheeky Cinnamons have been up to you say...but I have no idea what you're on about. What is the 5 Songs of Summer? 

Well, let us explain. Starting tomorrow until the middle August we'll be polishing off some new recordings and laying down some brand new tracks to give away for FREE to anyone who's listening. 

Rather than release another EP or single we thought since it's summer lets celebrate and share what we've been working on. 

The songs aren't necessarily meant to be about summer but it's our way of acknowledging that it's finally here and we're ready to make it fun.

Interesting things ahead...this summer

We've been recording our album for a while now - since January this year in fact.  But between our trusty home recording set up packing in, bucket loads of gigs and writing a bunch of Cinnamontastic new songs we haven't set a release date. That is until now. 

So, rather than release album through the standard digital route (itunes, emusic, napster yah da da) and press a limited run of physical copies for those folk who just 'have to have the linear notes and pretty artwork' we are going to do something a little different  that is right out of our DIY comfort zone. Intrigued?? Watch the space for more details soon....

Great Escaping it...

The Great Escape

And so The Cinnamons return from the Great Escape Festival in Brighton and what a whirlwind frenzy of a weekend! It all began on Wednesday evening when Marshall and I caught the late train from Glasgow.  Armed with backpacks, keyboards and guitars, we ditched the conventional rough and tumble long drive to the southcoast in favour of speedy, spacious virgin rail. This allowed us to arrive in time see the band who have helped shape our cinnamon sparkled world - Pavement. 

The band appeared on stage after a great set from Broken social scene (who performed as a humble ten piece) and played a two hour set which had us and everyone at Brixton Academy utterly transfixed and mesmerised beyond description. Epic, inspiring and bloody downright amazing show!

Later that night we joined rest of the cinnamons at the Xcerts show at Fortune of War on Brighton beach before heading home for some shut eye ahead of the show at Pav Tav the next day. 

On Friday afternoon we played with some great bands as part of Alcopop Records showcase, including Elephant, Stagecoach and Stars and Sons who all explored catchy melodic pop in their own idosyncratic way. 

After the show we ran around watching some rather phenomenal acts (Stornaway, Kid Adrift to name a few) and got talking to some more interesting folk. 

First festival of the summer down - more to follow.....

Yesterday we travelled to Kinkell farm in St Andrews to play the university May Ball. Basic concept of the event: take an empty barn house, deck it out like the oscars, invite 15000 students and supply them with all the food, drink and live entertainment they can handle. It was a night of extravagance, sophistication and messy student carnage rolled into an 8 hour party!
