Best Seat in the House
Little blurbs/scenarios of the VDL gang reacting to you sitting on their lap and how they'd react. Including Dutch van der Linde, Arthur Morgan, John Marston, Sean MacGuire, Josiah Trelawny, Kieran Duffy.
In my head, Bill Weasley's vibe is INESCAPABLY entertwined with the vibe of Hozier's music. Like you can't look at that man and tell me he isn't so "No grave can hold my body down, I'll crawl home to her" and "You know you're bright as the morning, as soft as the rain, Pretty as a vine, as sweet as a grape" YOU KNOW???? Like he's so warm. His vibe is sitting on a cozy couch with the softest blankets inside during a thunderstorm. His aura is that warm glowing lamp that's always the prettiest lighting. His vibe is just so crackling fire while it snows. YOU KNOW????
I said what I said and I MEAN IT
TLDR: Bill Weasley is Hozier coded.
(also if you haven't watched the De Selby (Part 2) music vid with Domhnall in it, go do that)
Little blurbs/scenarios of the VDL gang reacting to you sitting on their lap and how they'd react. Including Dutch van der Linde, Arthur Morgan, John Marston, Sean MacGuire, Josiah Trelawny, Kieran Duffy. Probs OOC. Definitely set in an AU where everyone is happy and alive and well. 😀 Also not proof read 🤭
A/N: Me?? Actually posting twice in like a couple of weeks?? Y'all idk who I am anymore. Also if there are any other RDR characters y'all want added to my blurb/drabble list, lmk <33
Dutch van der Linde
It wasn’t unusual for you and Dutch to show affection in public. Any time the man felt like kissing you, he would, and a few pairs of eyes weren’t going to stop him.
If anything, you were the one who was more reserved in front of people. Not that you didn’t love his attention, you did, of course. He was just so good at getting you flustered that sometimes you had to step away from him just to give your face a moment to cool down.
Today had been a fairly calm day at camp and everyone was taking it easy for once. Javier sat by the fire strumming at his guitar with Sean next to him singing words you really couldn’t understand. Charles leaned against a tree as he crafted some fire arrows. Dutch, Arthur, and Hosea sat at the domino table, having a coffee and reminiscing about the old days. You and the other ladies sat on a large blanket under the shade of a tree, talking about whatever gossip you’d heard in town.
You’d managed to tune out the gossip as your eyes met Dutch’s across camp. He gave you a smile and raised his mug in greeting. Returning the smile, you gave him a small nod in return.
Suddenly, a hand was being waved in front of your face.
“We were talkin’ to you,” Tilly chuckled softly.
“Huh?” You shook your head, refocusing on the women around you. “Sorry, guess I got a little distracted there.”
“Oh we know exactly what you were distracted by,” Karen grinned knowingly, wiggling her eyebrows at you. “You were busy starin’ at that man o’ yours over there.”
You felt your face grow warm now that you’d been caught staring at Dutch.
“Well can you blame me?” You defended. “He’s a fine looking man and he’s mine, of course I’m gonna stare.”
“I think it’s sweet that you love each other so much,” Mary-Beth smiled at you.
“I think so too,” Tilly agreed. “It is kinda weird seein’ Dutch look like he’s some schoolboy with a crush, though.”
You chuckled softly, nodding along. He did seem to grow rather soft when it came to you. Glancing back over at him, you watched as he laughed loudly about something Hosea had said. His head was thrown back and his smile was wide.
“Ladies, I’d love to continue gushing about Dutch, but I think I may just have to go over there and talk to him for a while,” you said as you stood up from the blanket.
“Go get your man,” Karen called after you as you began walking towards the domino table.
As you made it to the table, you slid one hand over Dutch’s shoulders, giving one a small squeeze.
“Afternoon, my love,” Dutch greeted, looking up at you from where he sat.
“Hi, honey,” you hummed in reply, leaning down to kiss his cheek. “You boys mind if I join you for a little while?”
“Of course not,” Hosea answered as Arthur shook his head and gestured to the free chair at the table.
You knew that all three of them were almost certainly expecting you to pull the chair out and sit down. Everyone around camp knew that Dutch was usually the one tugging you onto his lap or into his arms. And usually, they’d be correct to assume you’d take your own chair.
But today, for some reason, you just longed to be close to Dutch. So, you decided to sit in the best seat available.
Taking Dutch’s coffee mug from his hands, you put it on the table before settling yourself right onto his lap. One arm wrapped around his shoulders once you got comfortable. Naturally, his hands fell to your hips and waist to hold you to his torso.
“Well hello there,” Dutch chuckled softly, placing a kiss on your cheek. “What’s the special occasion? Usually I’m the one pulling you into my lap.”
“Just felt like you were the best seat around,” you shrugged, laying your head against his shoulder with a smile. “You don’t mind, do you?” You hummed out.
“Of course not,” Dutch shook his head, using his grip on you to pull you even closer to him.
Once he was sure you were comfortable, he continued on with whatever story he’d been reminiscing on before. Something about Arthur buying fish instead of catching them. You listened to him speak, laughing along whenever something struck you as funny.
After a few more stories of their younger days, Hosea and Arthur decided to go down to the river to fish for a while, for old time’s sake. You offered to get off Dutch so he could join them, but he wasn’t having it. He insisted that they could all three go another time.
Arthur and Hosea said their goodbyes before heading off to make sure they had all the supplies for their little fishing trip.
“So, is there any particular reason you’ve turned me into a chair this afternoon?” Dutch asked teasingly, giving you a squeeze.
“Nope,” you shook your head. “Just wanted to come over and spend some time with you. The girls caught me staring at you a little bit ago. They teased me for it, and I decided I’d like to sit with you a while.”
Dutch chuckled softly, kissing the side of your head.
“That’s cute, my dear,” he grinned. You felt his head turn before he spoke again. “Seems like the ladies are very invested in our relationship. When I looked over, they all looked away giggling.”
“They think it’s sweet that we’re together,” you explained. “Mary-Beth thinks it’s romantic that we’re always catching each other’s eyes and looking at one another.”
“Well I think she’d be right about that,” Dutch hummed, resting his cheek on your head. “But then again, I suppose my opinion is biased.”
After a moment of silence, you spoke again.
“Dutch?” You asked.
“Hmm?” He hummed in response.
“I think I need to sit on your lap more often,” you chuckled.
“It’s yours any time you’d like,” he laughed softly with you.
Arthur Morgan
For a rough and tumble outlaw, Arthur Morgan was rather easy to fluster. A simple kiss could have his cheeks growing pink and cause him to look off to the side. He may look big and mean, but under that act, he was a real sweetheart. A big softie, just for you.
Because of his apparent shyness, the two of you didn’t often get too affectionate around others. Sure, he’d slide his hand into yours or throw an arm around you pretty often. Occasionally, you’d share a peck on the lips or you’d send him off to town with a kiss on the cheek. Beside that, you kept most of your relations private.
Tonight, however, you seemed to be unable to get close enough to Arthur. Everyone at camp was drinking and having a good time, celebrating after a job well done earlier in the day. You’d been by his side all day, practically clinging to his arm.
The sun had long set and the only lights came from the campfire and the various lanterns around camp. Most everyone was sitting at the fire or around the poker table. Arthur had opted for the former. For most of the night, you’d been sitting next to him drinking, but right now, you were dancing with the other ladies, who had dragged you off the log with Arthur and into the grass.
You were all laughing as you danced together and yelled the words to whatever song Javier happened to be playing on his guitar. At some point, Sean had tried to join in and dance with all of you, but he’d been quickly pushed out and he’d left to pout by the fire. Didn’t he know that it was a girls only dance floor? Still, Karen had promised him a dance later in the night.
Currently, you were twirling Mary-Beth around. The two of you broke into more laughter as she nearly tripped over her own dress and went into the grass. Thankfully, you were able to keep her upright, but the situation still caused plenty of giggles from the two of you and the rest of the girls.
Unfortunately, you all eventually got tired. You were also a little dizzy from the drinks you’d had so far combined with the spinning. Deciding to take a break, you stumbled back over towards Arthur. As you reached him, you grinned so wide your cheeks hurt. God, you were so in love with him. How could you not be?
He was sitting on the log by the fire where you’d left him, his cheeks the slightest bit pink from the alcohol he’d had this evening. His hat was missing, probably discarded in his tent somewhere. That left his ruffled hair on display and you suddenly had the need to run your fingers through it.
“Did you have fun, sugar?” He asked once you were closer, tilting his head as he looked up at you. “You looked real pretty out there dancin’.”
“Had so much fun,” you nodded. Without another thought, you planted yourself right on his lap and kissed his cheek. “Missed you, though. And Mary-Beth almost fell right on her ass.”
Arthur blinked a few times, his hands seemingly not knowing what to do. His flush from the alcohol grew darker, but this time it had nothing to do with drinks.
It was only then that you realized what you’d done. You’d never done it before, and you weren’t sure why you had now. It had just happened without you thinking about it.
“Oh, gosh,” you started. “Sorry, I should’ve asked,” you began to stand, but Arthur seemed to finally snap out of it.
“No,” he interrupted, gently holding your hips in his hands. “You can stay,” he insisted. “I ain’t used to it, but I think I’d like you to sit on my lap.”
Relaxing onto his lap again, you gave him a wide smile. You wrapped your arms around his neck and pecked his lips. One hand gently twirled the longer hairs at the nape of his neck.
“Thank god, because I really didn’t wanna get up,” you chuckled.
Arthur chuckled with you, shaking his head.
“So, would you like to tell me how Mary-Beth nearly fell on her ass?” He asked, referring to your statement from before.
“Well I was twirlin’ her around and then she stepped on her own dress and just about fell right over,” you explained with a laugh. “But then she grabbed me and we managed to stay upright.”
“I can’t leave you for a few minutes before you’re causin’ trouble,” he clicked his tongue.
“Oh, you’re one to talk,” you playfully smacked his chest. “At least the trouble I cause doesn’t end in a bar fight or someone gettin’ shot.”
“Need I remind you of that night in Valentine?” He raised a brow.
“Hey, that was one time,” you groaned dramatically. “And in my defense, that lady was a bitch. She deserved that punch.”
Arthur laughed and shook his head, pulling you closer to him so he could land a kiss on your cheek.
“Alright, alright,” he surrendered. “I can’t disagree with that. You really did give it to her.”
Grinning victoriously, you moved around until you could comfortably tuck your face into his neck. You weren’t sure if it was the alcohol or just the comfort of being wrapped up in Arthur, but you were growing tired.
“Someone gettin’ sleepy?” Arthur hummed softly, rubbing your hip gently.
“Mhm,” you nodded, closing your eyes and curling in closer to him. “You’re a comfy seat, I can’t help it.”
“Well, sugar, you can fall asleep on me anytime,” he smiled. “Do you want to head to bed?”
“Nope, I wanna stay right here,” you replied, yawning.
“Alright, then, I’ll carry you off to bed when it’s time to turn in,” he promised, kissing your head.
“Thank you, Arthur,” you said softly, already fading out.
“Any time, honey,” he spoke lowly in response. That was the last thing you heard before you were drifting off to sleep. You were sure you’d found your new favorite napping spot.
John Marston
It wasn’t that you or John were against public affection. In fact, neither of you were shy about showing off your relationship and your love for one another. If you felt the urge, you were going to kiss the man you loved, and vice versa.
Despite this, most of your affection was rather calm around your friends. A kiss here, a little pat on the ass there. That was mostly John, but you made sure to pay him back every now and then. Especially if he was talking to the other guys. It was fun to watch his face get warm as he processed what you’d done. And though he’d never admit it, you knew he loved it.
Most of the time, you two didn’t have much time to just sit around and cuddle one another unless it was night and you were in bed. You’d enjoy more time with John, but you both lived chaotic lives, so you were happy to take the moments you did get.
Occasionally, he’d slide up behind you and hold your hips as you chopped vegetables for dinner. Or if you were repairing someone’s pants, he’d stand behind you and gently massage your shoulders as you caught up with one another for the day.
Today was just like any other. Filled with chores that kept you busy. Too busy to go off and relax with John.
Now, he sat next to the fire, having just gotten back from guard duty. He’d been out for hours, so he was taking a well earned break. Once you realized he’d probably be sitting there for a while, you decided to take your own chores over and sit next to him so you could at least talk with one another while you worked.
You grabbed a few things that needed mended along with some supplies before heading over towards John.
“This seat taken?” You asked playfully, nodding at the empty space next to him on the log he was sitting on.
“Only by you,” he answered, patting the spot with one hand.
As you began to sit down, you managed to lose your balance. Since your hands were full, you didn’t have anything to catch yourself with.
Thanks to John, though, you didn’t have to worry. He steadied you just enough that you didn’t crash down onto him. Still, you did land on the man.
“Careful, there,” John chuckled. “I know you like me, but there’s no need to go and fall for me like that,” he teased.
“Oh shut up,” you huffed playfully, beginning to stand up so you could sit next to him. You were stopped, however, by two hands clamping down on your hips and pulling you back down onto his thighs.
“Now where do you think you’re going?” He asked, pulling you into his chest.
“Well I was gonna sit next to you while I worked on repairing these clothes,” you explained.
“Way I see it, you can mend those clothes sitting right where you are,” he reasoned, kissing your cheek softly.
“I suppose I could,” you nodded. Truthfully, it sounded like a pretty good idea. You’d get your chores done and get to sit on John’s lap. It was a win-win if you’d ever heard one.
You settled sideways on his lap and put all your supplies on the ground next to you. Next, you grabbed what you needed to start on the first piece of clothing and got to work.
John watched your hands as they began to repair the pants that were laying across your lap.
“You know, I think this is how you should work more often,” John commented, leaning in and kissing your neck a few times.
“John,” you chuckled, shrugging your shoulder to deter his tickling kisses. “I’ll never get any work done if you keep that up.”
“Well I’m more important than those pants,” he huffed.
“Honey, they’re your pants,” you laughed softly. “I think you may need them at some point.”
“Not as much as I need to kiss on my woman,” he replied smoothly, lifting his head from your neck to catch your lips with his. “Can you blame a man for wanting to love up on the woman he loves?”
“I guess I can’t,” you shook your head, a fond smile on your face.
“Then you do your job while I do mine,” he joked, kissing your cheek a few times.
“I’m not sure kissing me is considered a job,” you argued, “Unless you’re saying it’s work to have to kiss me.”
“You know damn well that ain’t what I’m sayin’,” John huffed, pouting at you.
“Oh stop pouting, you fool, I know what you meant,” you smiled, kissing the pout off his lips. “I was only teasing you.”
“So mean to me,” he complained, but he had a small smile of his own on his face.
“Mhm, I’m a real bully,” you rolled your eyes with a snicker. “Sitting on your lap, mending your pants, lettin’ you kiss on me. Such a mean woman I am.”
John didn’t reply, instead opting to resume his kisses on your jaw.
You let him, not minding having the attention from him. Eventually, his kisses slowed to a stop and he instead just laid his cheek against your shoulder and watched you repair his pants with care.
“I was serious, you know,” he commented. “About you doin’ your chores like this more often. I like holdin’ you and watchin’ you work.”
“I’d like that too,” you agreed. “And Grimshaw can’t even hound me for sitting around with you because I’m still gettin’ my work done.”
“Why didn’t we think of this before now? Coulda been doin’ things like this the whole time,” he complained.
“I dunno,” you answered honestly. “Just never crossed my mind. But I’m glad we got the idea now.”
“Me too,” John nodded, pulling you closer into him.
John liked having his hands on you, and now he had one more excuse to do so. He was a very, very happy man.
Sean MacGuire
Sean was one of the most hands on people you’d ever met. And by ‘hands on’ you meant his hands were always on you. If you were within arm’s reach, the man was touching you, and if you weren’t, he was moving closer so you were.
It was something that everyone noticed. The man was practically attached to your hip, it was rather hard to miss. Not that you minded. You loved having Sean around and showing you how much he loved you. He was a real sweetheart and you enjoyed every second of it.
You especially enjoyed it on nights like tonight. Most of the gang were gathered around the campfire, singing songs and telling stories that were definitely exaggerated. Nobody was being particularly rowdy, everyone seemed to just be enjoying the drinks and the company.
Sean sat on a blanket, leaning against a small log behind him. You sat next to him, leaning into his side and laughing when he’d stumble over the lyrics of whatever song was being played. His arm was slung over your shoulder, keeping you close as you enjoyed the night with your friends.
Despite being pressed into his side, Sean seemed to think you needed to be closer. He used his arm around you to try and pull you tighter against him. He scooted closer too, so close that there wasn’t a single part of your sides that weren’t pressed together.
“Sean, what in the world are you doing?” You chuckled softly. “You’re acting like you’re trying to melt into me.”
“Maybe I am,” he replied, leaning in to kiss your cheek. “Can never get you close enough,” he explained as if it was the biggest problem he’d ever faced.
“I think we’re physically about as close as two people can get without being surgically attached,” you laughed, shaking your head.
“Still not enough,” he complained. “It’ll have to do, though,” he sighed dramatically.
Now that you were nearly glued to his side, Sean got back to paying attention to the story Hosea had been telling everyone.
The night went on normally. Sean pressed so close to you that you could practically feel his heartbeat against your ribs, drinks flowing, everyone laughing.
Eventually, as you finished up your first bottle of the night, you realized you’d have to get up if you wanted another. Sighing, you set the empty bottle aside and stood up from where you’d been sitting.
“Hey,” Sean frowned, looking at you like you’d just smacked him. “Where ya goin’?” He asked.
“Just gonna go grab another bottle,” you chuckled at his expression. “I’ll be back before you even know it.”
“Don’t make me come lookin’ for ya,” he teased, reaching up to land a smack on your ass.
You yelped slightly, surprised by the sensation. Smacking his hand away, you shook your head and walked off to get your drink. The crate wasn’t too far, and you grabbed a bottle for you and one for Sean, knowing he’d want another as well.
As you grabbed the bottles, you thought about how clingy Sean seemed to be tonight. Even more so than usual. You assumed it was due to the multiple bottles he’d already downed during the festivities. Chuckling softly to yourself, you turned and headed back to the fire.
Just as you promised, you returned before a few minutes could pass. You were about to sit back down next to Sean when an idea struck. If he wanted you as close as possible, you’d get as close as possible.
Instead of sitting next to him and tucking into his side again, you planted yourself directly on Sean’s lap.
Sean, who had been singing when you returned, went silent as he realized you were on his lap. For a split second, he thought he’d fallen asleep and was having some wet dream.
“Sean?” You hummed, gaining his attention.
At first, he just blinked at you with a stupid grin on his face. You thought he was having a stroke until he finally said something.
“Goddamn, I am one lucky bastard,” he said proudly, taking the last swig of the bottle that had been in his hand and tossing it aside. “A pretty lady comes and sits on my lap and brings booze with her. It’s a dream come true.”
“You’re an idiot,” you smiled fondly, offering him one of the bottles in your hand.
“And you love it,” he replied cockily, taking a drink of his new beer and wrapping his free arm around you tightly.
“That I do,” you agreed. You then leaned in, kissing along his jaw gently, giving him his much wanted attention.
“You are the perfect woman,” he sighed out, leaning his head back to let you shower him with affection.
You couldn’t help but chuckle quietly against his skin. The man loved your kisses, it was practically an addiction at this point. One that you really didn’t mind enabling. After a few minutes of kissing his jaw and neck, you laid your head on his shoulder and closed your eyes.
“Hey, what’s the hold up?” He playfully complained. “I was enjoyin’ that.”
“As much as I’d love to kiss you all night, it just isn’t possible, my love,” you reasoned, pecking his neck since it’s what you could reach. “I’d end up suffocating.”
“But what a way to go,” he grinned, laughing softly. “I’d happily die suffocatin’ because o’ kissin’ you.”
“You know, that’s oddly endearing,” you joked.
“I’m a very sweet lover,” he nodded. “You really shouldn’t be surprised.”
“I never said I was surprised, I know you’re sweet,” you smiled.
Sean just smiled and held you close, starting to sing along with the song Javier was playing for everyone. You just listened, occasionally drinking your beer.
It wasn’t long before you were growing tired in Sean’s arms.
“Can we go to bed soon?” You asked, lifting your head to look at Sean.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” he shook his head.
“What?” You frowned, “Why? I’m tired, love.”
“Because if you get up, people are gonna see somethin’ they don’t want to,” Sean answered, looking down to your lap, which of course, was on top of his.
“Sean, oh my god,” you laughed. “I thought that was your fucking gun, you pervert.”
“I ain’t even wearin’ my gun belt,” he wiggled his eyebrows.
“You are disgusting,” you huffed, but leaned in and pecked his cheek.
The man was always happy to be around you. You just hadn’t realized he was that happy.
Josiah Trelawny
Unlike most of the other gang members, Josiah wasn’t one to be around camp very often. Usually he was off working on some grand scheme to bring in a big payday. He came and went from the camp as he pleased. Still, he always made sure to find you often. Occasionally he’d come stay at the camp for a few days, or you’d just leave camp and travel along with him to wherever he was headed.
Thankfully, today was the day Josiah had promised he’d return to camp. He’d also assured you that he’d stay for a while this time. When he’d left, he had given you a kiss and told you that he would settle for a few days, maybe a week, before starting off on his next job. You were excited, you always enjoyed having Josiah around. When he was gone, you missed him terribly.
You were working on mending a shirt that Arthur had ripped on a branch when you heard a horse riding into camp. Looking up, you spotted the very man whose return you’d been awaiting.
Putting Arthur’s shirt aside, you stood and hurried over to the horses’ grazing area where Josiah was dismounting his horse. You tried not to seem too eager, but at the end of the day, you were ecstatic, so you didn’t care all that much.
“Hello, my dear,” Josiah smiled at you once he was on his own two feet. He opened his arms, which you happily ran into.
Your arms wrapped tightly around his middle as he hugged your shoulders. You let your head rest on his shoulder as you breathed him.
“I missed you,” you sighed out, content to be in his arms again.
“I missed you too, darling,” he replied, kissing the side of your head. “But now you have me all to yourself for a week,” he reminded you. Not that you needed reminding. You’d been counting down the days.
Lifting your head, you pressed a quick kiss to his lips. Then you allowed yourself a moment to just admire the man you loved. It had only been a few weeks, but that was much too long in your opinion.
“How was the trip here?” You hummed curiously.
“Long, but worth it,” he smiled, giving you a small squeeze.
“Such a flirt,” you playfully rolled your eyes. “You must be hungry, though. If you’d like to go sit at the domino table, I’ll get you some lunch.”
“That sounds lovely, but only if you’ll join me,” he suggested.
“I think I could do that,” you nodded, leaning up to peck his cheek before letting go of him so you could get him a bowl of stew.
Parting ways, you walked off towards Pearson’s wagon while Josiah headed over to sit at the table. Once you had his lunch, you also poured him a cup of water and started towards the domino table.
“Thank you, my dear,” Josiah hummed as you sat his lunch down in front of him. “Did you not get yourself any?”
“I ate earlier,” you explained, sitting down at one end of the table so you were in the seat next to him. “I don’t mind sitting with you while you have some, though.”
Josiah nodded in understanding and began to eat his stew. You both knew it wasn’t exactly top tier cuisine, but it was what you had, and it kept everyone fed, so Josiah didn’t complain.
As he ate, you rambled about the goings on at camp recently. There wasn’t anything major, just little things that you thought were worth sharing. He listened intently, asking questions whenever he had any.
It wasn’t too long before he had finished his stew. He leaned back in his chair with a content sigh. Even if the food was mediocre, the company was the best he’d ever had.
“And that’s how Sean caught his pants on fire,” you finished your current story, shaking your head.
Josiah laughed, his own head mirroring yours.
“So nothing new, then?” He joked.
“Not really, no,” you chuckled. “What about you? Anything interesting happen during your travels?” You asked curiously.
“Darling, I’m offended you even felt the need to ask,” he placed a hand on his chest as if he was truly wounded by your words.
“So dramatic,” you huffed out a laugh. “Let me rephrase then. Tell me what interesting things happened while you were away.”
“Much better,” Josiah nodded approvingly. “I did meet an interesting fellow on my way here today,” he started. “He was rather odd. The poor man was running around in the woods naked, like some feral animal.”
“Oh dear,” you couldn’t help but laugh softly at the image that was forming in your head. “Sounds like quite the gentleman.”
“I called out to him to ask if he was alright, but the man growled at me and ran off,” he finished with a sigh. “I was almost certain he was going to bite me.”
“Well that would make one hell of a story,” you joked.
“That it would, my dear, that it would,” he agreed, an amused smile on his face.
You were sure the grin on your face looked goofy as you practically stared at the man in front of you. But in your defense, you just couldn’t help it. You’d missed him with your whole heart while he was away and now he was with you again and you were over the moon.
Feeling the need to be in his arms again, you moved before your brain had even really processed what you were doing. You got up from your seat and rounded the corner of the table. Once you were right next to him, you planted yourself in his lap sideways.
Josiah’s arms wrapped around your hips on instinct, holding you firmly on his legs.
“Hi,” you smiled sweetly at him.
“Hello, darling,” he chuckled in response. “Is there any particular reason you’ve decided to sit on me? Or is it just for fun?”
“I was just thinking about how much I missed you,” you admitted. “I just wanted to be closer to you after all that time apart.”
“It’s like you read my mind,” he replied, kissing your cheek. “I would hold you for the entire time I’m here if I could.”
“You’d hear no objections from me,” you grinned, leaning in to lay your head on his shoulder.
“Don’t tempt me,” he joked, patting your hip.
Kieran Duffy
Kieran wasn’t the most affectionate person when others were around. Not because he didn’t love you, or love showing you just how much he did. It was mostly because of the ribbing he’d get from the other guys. Mostly Bill or Micah. You didn’t mind all that much. In private, Kieran was always going to make sure to give you every bit of affection he said you deserved.
Despite the teasing, Kieran never minded spending time with you around camp. As long as nobody happened to catch the two of you stealing a kiss, the jabs were minimal. And typically, if it was coming from Micah, you’d use it as an excuse to tell him off anyways.
You were next to Kieran as the two of you sat around the camp fire with a few of the other members of the gang. Most everyone had gone to bed except for those in the small group that were still up drinking. Kieran had been nursing a beer while you’d listened to the Hosea talk about nearly being killed by a giant bear.
Deciding that there was no attention on you or Kieran, you reached one hand over and interlaced your fingers with his. Your hands laid on one of his thighs.
When Kieran realized what was happening, he glanced at you with a shy smile. He took a drink of beer to try and cover it up, but you had already seen it and found it rather sweet. You’d have to mention it later just to watch his cheeks heat up as he tried to deny it.
You smiled at him before refocusing on Hosea’s retelling of his near death experience.
It wasn’t long before everyone was laughing. Especially when Hosea claimed he was too old to still be going up against big bears.
After Hosea’s story, everyone seemed to want to share their own near death experiences. First Pearson went on about a boat nearly capsizing while he was chopping vegetables. Next, Sean went on and on about how a man had nearly beaten him to death when Sean had asked his wife how far along she was. Turns out the woman hadn’t been pregnant at all. That one earned hearty laughter from everyone around the fire.
As you listened to the stories, you laid your head on Kieran’s shoulder. It was nice to show your affection like this in front of your friends. Nobody was paying attention to the two of you, but still it felt good to not hide it just to avoid some stupid men making equally stupid comments.
Of course, thinking about it seemed to jinx it and Bill decided to open his big mouth.
“You know, you might get a disease or somethin’, hangin’ on an O’Driscoll like that,” he warned with a rude laugh.
“Oh shove it, Bill,” you scoffed in return. He just couldn't mind his own business.
Kieran tensed next to you, his fingers flexing between yours. You knew he liked being able to hold your hand next to the fire. Hell, he’d like to kiss you whenever he wanted. But he also just wanted to be accepted by everyone in the gang, which you understood. That would never happen if they kept teasing him about your relationship.
“He’s right, you know,” Micah chimed in. “They carry sickness.”
“So do rats,” you narrowed your eyes at the man.
You tried not to laugh when you heard Sean snickering to himself at your insult.
It was so tiring. The incessant teasing, the constant jokes. It was driving you crazy and you were sick of not being able to show the man you love any affection. It was time to stand up for the two of you.
You got up from where you were sitting, then sat right back down, this time on Kieran’s lap. Your arms wrapped around Kieran’s shoulder and you landed a kiss on his cheek.
“You two are just jealous that he has a woman that’s willing to be around him for free,” you reasoned. “He doesn’t have to pay a woman to act like she’s into him. If anything, the two of you could learn a thing or two from Kieran on how to get a lady to actually like you. Or tolerate you, at the very least.”
Kieran was shocked that you’d planted yourself on his lap. Sure, you did it often enough, but that was in the privacy of your tent, not right by the campfire. He seemed to catch up, though, and wrapped his arms around your hips like he had done every time before.
“Me?” Jealous of some O’Driscoll trash?” Micah rolled his eyes as if it was impossible. Fortunately, at least Bill had been smart enough to shut his mouth.
“Yes, Micah, you,” you continued. “You’re a real piece of shit. It’s pathetic that you make fun of a man just because he has something you can’t have because of what an ass you are.”
Micah stood up, causing you to do the same. You stared at one another across the campfire.
“What’re you gonna do?” You asked, your eyes staring into his. You weren’t scared of such an insecure little roach. You knew that’s all he really was behind all those mean words. His hand was on his revolver, but he wouldn’t do anything. Coward.
Before he had a chance to reply, Hosea stood up and placed a hand on Micah’s chest, pushing him away from the fire, and away from you.
“I think that’s enough excitement for one night,” he reasoned, always the level headed one. “Micah, take a walk.”
You stood your ground, keeping your eyes on Micah as he walked off, mumbling curses on his way. Once he was out of your sight, you let out a breath and turned to look at Kieran.
He looked shocked, but he also had a look you recognized well. Pride.
Sitting back down on his lap, you paid no attention to what Lenny began talking about just to change the subject.
“Thank you,” he spoke quietly, holding your waist once again. “You didn’t have to do that.”
“I did,” you insisted. “I’m tired of some idiots getting in the way of me being able to love you how I want.”
“I think from now on, I’d be alright if you wanted to do this more often,” he admitted, gesturing to where you sat on his lap.
“I think I’d like that very much,” you agreed, kissing his cheek before tuning back into the conversation being had.
Little blurbs of you being jealous when the guys are being flirted with. Including Dutch van der Linde, Arthur Morgan, John Marston, Sean MacGuire, Josiah Trelawny, Kieran Duffy. Probs OOC. Definitely set in an AU where everyone is happy and alive and well. 😀
Dutch van der Linde
Jealousy wasn’t typically a word you’d use to describe yourself, but as you watched another woman try to sweet talk the man you loved, the feeling took over.
The gang had worked a successful job, which led you all to go out to a saloon for the night and let loose. The night was still young, and Dutch had gone to the bar to order another drink for the two of you. He’d been away from your side for all of three minutes and some lady was already trying to get in his pants. The girl was pretty, you’d admit. She could truthfully have her pick of any man in the bar, and she’d set her eyes on yours.
You tried not to think too much of it. She wasn’t standing too close to him. Her hand was on his arm, but she hadn’t fully pressed into him. Not yet, at least.
You knew that Dutch was an attractive man. It was obvious that he’d get attention from others. You also knew that he was yours and yours alone, and that wouldn’t be changed by some working girl hanging off of him.
Still, you couldn’t push down the feelings of jealousy bubbling inside you. It felt ridiculous to be jealous, especially when you knew your relationship was secure. Dutch loved you, you were the arms he ended up in each night.
“You’re gonna stare a hole through that poor woman’s head if you keep it up,” Karen nudged you from where she stood beside you.
You shook your head, looking away from the woman to focus on Karen. She had a teasing grin on her face as she looked at you.
“I wasn’t staring,” you tried to deny it half-heartedly. “Just seeing if Dutch had ordered the drinks yet.”
“Uh-huh,” she raised a brow. “And I’m guessing you ain’t gettin’ jealous either.”
“Jealous? Nope,” you shook your head. “I know Dutch is with me, that girl’s probably just trying to get him in bed so she can get paid. He isn’t gonna go anywhere with her.”
“Well of course he isn’t,” Mary-Beth chimed in. “That man is head over heels for you alone,” she smiled. “That doesn’t mean you aren’t gonna get jealous when another woman throws herself at him.”
They were right, and you knew that.
“Okay, maybe I’m just a tiny bit jealous,” you sighed. “I just don’t like watching someone else try and get him into bed.”
“As if that girl stands a chance,” Karen laughed. “She’s in for some disappointment.”
Glancing back over, you watched as the woman took a step closer. Her hand slid farther up his arm as she smiled at something he’d said. You looked at Dutch’s face. He had a polite smile on his face, but it wasn’t near one of the sweet smiles he had when he looked at you. Friendly, that’s all it was.
You couldn’t take it any longer. Embarrassment over being jealous be damned, you wanted her hands off of your lover.
“Try not to kill her,” Karen called out after you with a snicker.
As you reached the bar, you pressed yourself into Dutch’s side, causing the woman to have to pull her hand away from his arm.
“How are the drinks coming, love?” You hummed out as Dutch instinctively wrapped an arm around your waist and kept your body close to his.
“Bartender had to go in the back to get more, apparently it’s a very popular choice tonight,” he replied. “I was just talking with, what was it, Amelia?” He gestured towards the woman with his free hand.
“Emily,” the woman corrected with a tight-lipped smile on her face.
“Right, Emily,” he nodded. “My mistake. Anyways, she was just telling me about how the drinks I ordered are her favorite.”
“You seem to have good taste,” you spoke, not wanting to be rude if the woman hadn’t known that Dutch was taken. Even so, she clearly did have similar taste as you. In drinks and men, it seemed.
“You too,” she nodded. “Well, if you two will excuse me,” she muttered before turning and heading off, presumably to find another man to try and work.
You watched her walk away, pressing yourself closer to Dutch.
“What was that about?” Dutch asked, looking down at you with a smirk.
“What was what about?” You played dumb, shrugging. “Just thought the drinks were taking a while. Wanted to see what the hold up was,” you lied.
“Don’t lie to me, darling,” he chuckled. “You were jealous of that woman trying to sweet talk me,” he accused. “So you had to come and save me.”
He had hit the nail on the head. God damn him and his observation skills.
“Well only I’m supposed to sweet talk you,” you mumbled, laying your head on his shoulder.
“Yours is the only sweet talk that works on me,” he assured, kissing the top of your head. “She can try all she wants, I’m going home with you at the end of the night.”
“I know,” you nodded, lifting your head to place a quick kiss on his lips. “I just don’t like watching another woman hit on you. And I know you wouldn’t flirt or go home with anyone else. I just couldn’t stand there and watch her have her hands on you. Imagine what you’d do if it were reversed.”
“If a man tried to steal you from me, he’d better hope I’m not armed,” he joked, a deep chuckle leaving his lips. You could feel it rumble through his ribs.
“Oh please, like he’d stand a chance against you,” you rolled your eyes playfully. “I’ve only got eyes for you, Dutch, you know it.”
“And you know I’m only sweet on you, but you still had to come mark your territory,” he teased. “I’ll admit, my dear, it’s rather attractive that you wanted to show her I’m taken.”
“Yeah?” You hummed, sliding one hand up his chest. “You like when I get possessive over you?”
“Mhm,” he nodded in confirmation. “You’re sexy when you’re jealous, darling. In fact, I think the two of us should rent a room for the night. I can show you just how much I enjoy it.”
“Now that sounds like a lovely idea,” you agreed.
Who knew that being jealous could lead to such fun?
Arthur Morgan
You were trying not to look too sour, you really were. But when another woman was fawning over how strong your man was, you were sure you didn’t have the most pleasant expression on your face.
The two of you were in town to pick up a few necessities, just a simple shopping trip. Unfortunately, that had been interrupted when a woman approached you in the store to ask for Arthur’s help loading things into her wagon.
The shop keeper was too old to be lifting heavy crates, and he had nobody else at the shop to help him. His only employee had apparently come down with a bad cold.
Arthur, being the kind man he was, agreed to help the woman load up her things.
While he helped her load everything into her wagon, you stood leaning against the general store, watching.
As he worked, she practically told him her life story. How she was there getting things for her garden. It had been her mother’s, who had gotten sick and couldn’t take care of it. So now, it seemed she had a lot of work to do if she wanted to bring it back to life.
She went on and on about how she wished she had someone strong around to help her with things. That it was hard work for a lady to do on her own. You swore she could’ve flown away with how much she was batting her lashes.
Arthur didn’t seem to even notice that she had a clear interest in him. He just spoke as he would with anyone else. Telling her he was sorry to hear about her mother, and that he was sure gardening work could get hard, especially in the hot or dry months.
He gave her no reason to think he was interested, but the woman didn’t seem to pay any mind to that.
You had no reason to be so bitter towards the woman, really. She had no chance with Arthur. He was committed to you and only you. Yet, your eyes stayed narrowed slightly as you looked at her.
There was nothing to worry about. You knew you didn’t have to stand there and keep an eye on the two of them. You could go finish your errands and Arthur would catch up with you once the woman was on her way. You just couldn’t seem to leave her alone with him. You trusted Arthur, of course, but this woman, well, you weren’t sure about her.
It seemed to take an eternity for everything to be loaded into the wagon. Really, it was probably only a half hour. But with the way the woman was fighting for every bit of attention from Arthur, it was exhausting to watch.
“Thank you so much, sir,” the woman gave Arthur a wide smile, placing a hand on his bicep. “I just don’t know how I would’ve gotten this home if you hadn’t helped.”
“I’m sure someone else would’ve helped, ma’am,” he gave her a polite smile in return.
“Still, I have to repay you somehow,” she continued, her face growing pink.
“No need for that,” he shook his head. “Just doin’ the polite thing.”
“Are you sure?” She pressed.
Dear god, Arthur was oblivious. You supposed you should finally step in just to put the woman out of her misery and send her on her way.
“Arthur,” you hummed, pushing off the wall you’d been leaning against to walk over towards the pair. “We should finish up our errands and head home.”
As soon as you spoke, Arthur’s full attention was on you. He smiled at you as you stopped next to him.
The woman looked at you, trying and failing to hide her disappointment that you’d interrupted the conversation.
“I’m sorry, would you mind?” She asked. “I was just trying to talk to your friend here.”
Friend? The woman was just asking for you to shove her off of Arthur, but before you could, he spoke.
“My sweetheart here is right, ma’am. We really should be goin’ on to our own chores,” he agreed with you, laying an arm around your shoulders.
“Oh,” the woman frowned, giving you a dirty look. “Well, thanks for the help,” she muttered again before climbing up into her wagon and urging her horses to begin walking down the road.
“Good riddance,” you scoffed, leaning into Arthur.
“What did she do?” He asked, looking down at you, clearly confused.
“Arthur, she was practically trying to jump your bones right here in the middle of town,” you answered. How could he not see that she had been interested?
“Oh, please. She was just thankin’ me for my help is all,” he denied.
“No, she was trying to invite you to her bed to thank you,” you huffed. “She was touchin’ you like I wasn’t even here.”
Arthur seemed to take a moment before it hit him.
“Are you jealous?” He cracked a smile.
“No,” you lied. “Maybe,” you corrected. “Just don’t want some other woman feeling you up,” you reasoned.
“She wasn’t feelin’ me up, she barely touched my arm,” he laughed, leaning down to kiss your forehead. “I’m all yours anyway, that woman is nothin’ compared to you.”
“Yeah?” You smiled softly.
“Course,” he nodded. “I’ve only got feelings for you. Hell, I didn’t even know she was flirtin’ with me until you told me. I’m all yours, sugar.”
“And I’m lucky you are,” you grinned, leaning up to give him a soft kiss on the lips.
“It’s cute, you know,” he mumbled as he pulled away. “You gettin’ all protective over me. Though I can’t say I blame you, I’d be the same if any man tried to sweet talk you. I may not be so nice about it, though.”
“Getting possessive over lil ol’ me?” You grinned.
“Well I wanna make sure you’re mine only,” he answered simply.
“Arthur Morgan, I’ll always be yours and yours alone,” you assured.
Your man may be oblivious when it came to others flirting with him, but he was the most loyal person you’d ever met, and you knew you were the luckiest woman in the world to have him as yours.
John Marston
Having a night to go out for a drink was always a nice treat. Especially when the gang was in high spirits. And tonight, things were amazing.
Most of the gang had decided to go to a local saloon and have a fun night celebrating. You really didn’t have much to celebrate other than the fact that you were all still standing, but that was a good enough excuse for all of you.
You’d spent most of the night tucked into John’s side as everyone sat around a table laughing and telling ridiculous stories that were definitely embellished. Now, however, you sat next to Mary-Beth. A few of the men had gone outside for a smoke, John included. Not that you minded, though you did miss the comfort of laying your head on his shoulder.
“So, how are things with John?” Mary-Beth asked curiously. You were both romantics at heart, so you two often found yourselves talking about John or one of her romance books.
“Things are perfect,” you smiled. “He’s the best partner I could ask for, really,” you gushed.
“You’re cute together,” she grinned. “You’ve been glued together all night. And the way he looks at you,” she sighed dreamily, “It’s just so romantic.”
“The way he looks at me?” You asked. “What’re you talking about?”
“You’re telling me you don’t see it?” She chuckled. “He looks at you like you hung the stars in the sky. He’s so in love with you it ain’t funny.”
“Oh please, he just looks at me the way any man would look at his lover,” you brushed it off.
“No, I’m serious,” Mary-Beth insisted. “His expression gets all soft and lovestruck every time he looks at you. Even when you’re not looking at him. Once I caught him staring at you while you were feeding the chickens. He got all red when I called him out on it.”
“Really?” You smiled shyly. You guessed you really hadn’t noticed the way John looked at you. You hadn’t paid attention to the fact that it was different from the way he looked at everyone else.
“Really,” she confirmed with a nod. “It’s sweet.”
“And I thought he was the oblivious one,” you joked with a small chuckle. “He didn’t know we were officially together until we kissed for the first time.”
“Well maybe you’re both just a little blind when it comes to the other,” she joined in the laughter.
“Seems that way,” you nodded.
You looked up as you heard a few pairs of footsteps approaching, expecting to see John returning from outside. Your lover, however, was nowhere to be seen.
“Where’s John?” You asked Arthur curiously as the men made it back to the table.
“He’s finishing up his cigarette,” he replied as he sat back down at the table with everyone.
“Well, I think I’ll go out and get some fresh air with him,” you hummed, getting up from your seat and heading to the front of the saloon.
As soon as you walked out, you took a deep breath and looked around. You spotted John immediately, leaning against the front of the saloon at one end of the porch. In front of him stood a woman who was a little too close for your comfort.
You watched the two for a moment, wanting to see if this woman’s intentions were what you thought they were.
“I’m a taken man, ma’am,” you heard John speak.
“Well she don’t have to know,” the woman replied, taking a step closer and placing a hand on John’s chest. “I won’t tell.”
That caused John to react immediately. He pushed off the wall he was leaning on and removed the woman’s hand from his body.
You decided you’d make your way over so at least John wouldn’t have to handle the woman alone.
“There you are,” you spoke as you got closer to the pair. “Arthur said you were still out here.”
“I was just tryin’ to finish my cigarette,” he explained, not wanting you to see the woman and assume the worst. Of course, you’d seen enough to understand the situation, so he had nothing to worry about.
“Is this her?” The woman asked, giving you a look up and down.
You stood at John’s side, leaning into him naturally.
“Sure is,” John nodded, his arm wrapping around your waist.
“And you’re sure you wouldn’t rather have a night with me?” She tried again.
Jesus, she just couldn’t take a damn hint.
“Excuse me?” You narrowed your eyes. “Did he not already tell you no?”
“I’m just makin’ sure he’s positive,” the woman answered in a sweet tone.
“Listen, woman, I’m happily taken,” John spoke again, pulling you closer. “Just move along to the next man.”
“Come find me if you change your mind,” she winked at him and threw you a dirty look before sauntering off around the side of the saloon.
“Desperate much?” You huffed, looking off in the direction she’d gone. “Can’t she find her own man instead of trying to take mine?”
“She wasn’t gonna take me anywhere,” John chuckled, shaking his head. “I was just standin’ there, smokin’ the rest of my cigarette, when she walked up to me and started flirtin’,” he explained. “I told her I was taken, but that didn’t stop her.”
“I saw that part,” you nodded. “I had come out here to get some fresh air and a little bit of quiet with you only to find her putting her hands on my man,” you scoffed. “But I also saw how quick you were to push her away.”
“Well of course I pushed her away,” John said as he tossed his cigarette butt on the ground and stepped on it with his boot. “There’s only one lady for me, and that’s you, darlin’. You know that,” he grinned at you.
“I know,” you returned his grin, leaning up to gently connect your lips with his. “Doesn’t mean I like someone havin’ their hands on what’s mine.”
“That what I am? I’m all yours?” He teased, looking down at you with the softest eyes you’d ever seen. So that’s the look Mary-Beth had been talking about. “I think I like that.”
“Mhm,” you nodded. “All mine, nobody else gets to have you,” you said proudly, tucking your face into his neck.
“That mean that you’re all mine, too?” He asked, wrapping both arms around you now.
“Yep, sure does,” you confirmed.
“Now I definitely like that sound of that,” he chuckled, kissing the top of your head gently.
Sean MacGuire
Nights out with Sean were always interesting. Usually entertaining, as well. Sometimes, he’d be glued to your side, telling you every sweet nothing he could think of, even if they got a little specific at times. Other nights, he’d disappear and you’d find him talking to some poor fella about his amazing girl and how he wished she was there. Then, when he noticed that you really were there, he’d end up clinging to you until he fell asleep on your shoulder back at camp.
Tonight, it seemed that he had disappeared. For the first few drinks, he’d been at your side. When he’d left for the next drink, he hadn’t come back, but you weren’t exactly surprised. He was a ball of energy and the man got sidetracked like it was his job.
“Where’d he get off to this time?” Karen laughed beside you.
“Who knows? I wouldn’t be shocked to look over and see him doing a jig on the bar,” you laughed with her.
“I’m sure he’ll turn up half an hour from now, gushing to some man about his girl that he misses so dearly,” Mary-Beth joined in. “Then when he spots you, he’ll be attached to you again.”
“Sounds about right,” Karen nodded in agreement. “That boy is a fool, especially when it comes to you.”
“He really is,” you chuckled. “It’s something I love about him, though.”
“Last time he was drunk at camp, he found me when you were off using the bathroom,” Mary-Beth started. “He started telling me about how pretty he thought your nose was. I didn’t know a man could talk about his lover’s nose for ten whole minutes, but Sean proved me wrong there,” she giggled.
“My nose?” You asked. God, Sean was strange, but he was yours.
“Yep, and when he was done with that, he started talking about how comfy you are to lay on.”
“What an idiot,” you shook your head, a fond smile on your face.
“I think it’s sweet how in love he is with you,” Mary-Beth commented. “He’s obsessed with you.”
“He is a pretty big sweetheart, even if he is a dumbass,” you agreed.
Before anyone else could speak, Arthur made his way over.
“Ladies,” he greeted. “I think we’re all gettin’ ready to head back to camp for the night before anyone gets any more drunk.”
“And that’s my cue to go searching for Sean,” you hummed, excusing yourself as you stood from the table to go find the Irishman.
You checked downstairs first, but had no luck in finding him. Even when you asked a few people if they’d seen him, you got no help. Next, you walked upstairs, hoping you’d find him there and that he hadn’t managed to stumble outside and wander around town.
Luckily, you spotted his hair pretty easily once you were on the second floor. He sat at a small round table across from a woman, definitely older than the two of you. Based on her clothing, she wasn’t just a patron of the saloon. She was here for a specific kind of work.
That was unusual. You almost always found him sitting with some old man, going on about the love of his life. Finding him with a woman wasn’t what you’d been expecting.
You started to make your way over, a strange feeling growing in your stomach. You’d never been jealous before, but you could only assume that’s what you were feeling. Before now, you’d never had a reason to feel jealous. Sean was always so crazy for you that it had never crossed your mind that he’d flirt with someone else. Not that you thought he was now, he was surely just being friendly, but your mind let your thoughts wander.
Even though you didn’t know why, you were a little upset at this woman sitting with Sean. She smiled and laughed as he spoke, clearly having a nice time talking with him.
You spoke once you were close enough to use a normal volume.
“Sean?” You called out, still upset as to why this lady was talking and laughing with him. She was probably trying to get him to pay for some fun.
“There she is!” He gasped, opening his arms towards you.
“You must be the lovely lady I’ve been hearing about,” the woman spoke, smiling at you as she stood from the table.
“I told her all about you, love,” Sean interrupted, standing up to wrap his arms around you. “How sweet you are and how much I love ya,” he explained, planting a kiss on your cheek.
Now you were definitely confused. It must’ve shown on your face, because the woman spoke again.
“I thought your man here was alone, so I asked if he’d like to come with me,” she admitted. “But he was very quick to tell me he was taken by the most wonderful girl he’d ever met,” she laughed softly, clearly amused by the situation. “That was a half hour ago.”
“Oh god,” you huffed out a laugh. “I really do need to put a leash on him. He’ll talk anyone’s ear off if he’s given half the chance.”
Sean hummed in agreement to your statement, pressing his face into your neck.
“You’ve got a good one, dear,” the woman smiled. “He’s real sweet on you, you’re lucky.”
“That I am,” you nodded. “Thank you for managing to babysit him for me,” you joked.
“No problem,” she chuckled. “You two have a nice night.” She gave you both a smile before heading off to find a man who would pay her rather than ramble about his lover.
“You ready to head back to camp?” You asked Sean once she was gone, wrapping your arms around the man.
“Only if you’ll let me sleep in your tent,” he replied with a goofy grin.
“As if you don’t every other night,” you chuckled.
You looked at him and let out a small breath of relief. You had been so silly to assume the worst of the woman he’d been with.
“You alright, love?” He hummed, kissing your lips gently.
“I’m great,” you nodded. “I just, when I saw you with that lady,” you trailed off. “It’s silly.”
Sean stared at you for a moment before his grin grew.
“You were jealous,” he teased. “Of me an’ the lady. You got nothin’ to be jealous for,” he laughed. “I don’ even see other ladies. Only you.”
“I know, Sean,” you laughed with him. “I know.”
Josiah Trelawny
Most times, you loved Josiah’s talent to put on a show and woo whatever target he set his eyes on. It was entertaining to watch him work. Now, though, was one time you didn’t enjoy it even a little.
The two of you had set out for a simple job. Nothing dangerous, just gathering some intel at an event in Saint Denis. So far, you’d stayed by Josiah’s side, your arms wrapped around one of his as you played the part of his wife.
It seemed you’d found something that could end up with a big score, so he decided to work this specific target for a while longer. Usually, his targets were rich older men that he could con into investing in a fake business. This target, however, was a wealthy woman that seemed enamoured with Josiah.
The lady had mentioned she was a widow left with her husband’s fortune. One that apparently he’d grown by owning multiple plantations, which she seemed proud of. She really was a perfect target. Rich and mean.
She’d also made sure to mention just what an attractive man Josiah was. Right in front of you. She had no filter, it seemed. Flirtations left her mouth every other sentence. He gave right back and she was eating out of his palm in only a few minutes.
You knew he was only acting. He was sweet talking the woman for information, not to truly flirt with her. Despite knowing this, you still hated standing next to him as he worked his magic.
It was when she laughed loudly at something he’d said when you decided you couldn’t watch any longer.
“I’m going for a drink,” you explained, patting his arm before letting go to head off to the bar that was along one wall of the room.
“Alright, my dear,” he nodded, giving you a smile as you walked away.
Sitting on a barstool, you ordered whatever drink the barkeep recommended. You didn’t care what it was, you just needed a break from the conversation you’d been watching.
You turned to look out at the room as you took the first sip of your drink. Naturally, your eyes landed on Trelawny, who was still talking animatedly with the widow from before. He had a wide smile on his face as he rambled on. Her eyes were solely focused on him, hanging on every word.
As you watched her smile and laugh, you almost felt bad that she’d probably be robbed in a few days. Then, you thought about her trying to steal Josiah right in front of you. You also remembered how she’d gained her wealth and any guilt you felt left your body.
You weren’t sure what Josiah had said, but the woman took a step closer, running a hand over his bicep. She batted her lashes a few times. She was desperate for attention.
Sighing, you took another sip of your drink. There really was no need to be jealous. The woman would be going home alone, and Josiah would be with you. Hell, she didn’t even know Josiah’s real name. Still, she thought she had a chance.
You weren’t sure what her thought process was, trying to steal a man away from his wife when she was old enough to be his mother. Of course, you weren’t really married to Josiah, but she didn’t know that, she was under the impression that you two were newlyweds that had just moved to the city from Chicago.
Even if you were annoyed with the woman, when you looked at Josiah again, you couldn’t help but crack a small smile. He was truly in his element, working the woman for information without her even realizing. She had no clue what was going on. Absolutely clueless.
Unfortunately, that train of thought didn’t last long. The woman pretended to trip and ended up practically throwing herself at Josiah. You wished you could give her the benefit of the doubt and assume it had been an accident, but her track record led you to believe otherwise.
Josiah, of course, played the part of a gentleman and fussed over the widow.
You huffed softly and decided to just focus on something else to distract you. You didn’t have to babysit Josiah, he knew what he was doing and he’d come find you when he had the information he needed.
Turning back around towards the bar, you downed the rest of the drink in your hands and ordered another.
You kept yourself entertained by listening to random conversations from the people that came and went from the bar. Most of them were boring, but occasionally you’d catch a bit of gossip that was at least a little interesting.
It had only been a half hour by the time Josiah came to find you.
“There you are, my dear,” he greeted, standing next to the barstool you sat on. “I thought you’d gotten lost,” he teased.
“Not lost,” you hummed, turning to face him. “I just couldn’t stand watching that woman hanging on you for another minute,” you scoffed.
Josiah gave you a knowing smile.
“Was someone jealous?” He asked, raising one eyebrow.
“Maybe,” you sighed, shaking your head.
“No need to be, darling,” he assured, stepping closer to you. “My heart belongs to you,” he flirted, leaning in and kissing your lips gently.
You smiled against his lips, pulling away after a moment.
“I know,” you nodded. “But my god, she was practically undressing you with her eyes.”
“Well, you’re the only one who can undress me with your hands,” he grinned, pecking your lips gently. “And I will gladly remind you of that when we retire for the evening.”
“I wonder how you’ll do that,” you teased, your face growing hot at his words.
Josiah leaned in, kissing just below your ear before speaking.
“I suppose you’ll just have to wait and find out, dear,” he spoke quietly.
With the way he spoke, you weren’t sure you’d survive the night, but you were excited to find out.
Kieran Duffy
The majority of the time when the gang went out to a saloon, you and Kieran ended up staying back at camp and drinking there instead. He didn’t go out of camp much, but you’d convinced him to tag along for tonight. There was no special occasion, but Sean had mentioned heading to the saloon, and soon enough, everyone was wanting to go.
Most of the people who’d come out tonight all sat around the table. There were a few exceptions, of course. A few of the ladies had left to find men to rob blind, and a couple of men had gone in search of some company for the night.
You and Kieran stayed at the table where everyone sat. You sat close enough that you could rest your head on his shoulder comfortably. Or vice versa, if he wanted to. His hand had stayed in yours all night, your intertwined fingers resting on his thigh.
“I’m glad you decided to come out tonight,” you smiled, pecking Kieran’s cheek and watching as his face flushed. No matter how often you kissed him, the man still grew flustered.
“Me too,” he agreed. Truthfully, he’d be glad to spend any time with you, and you knew it. But you were still glad to have a night away from the camp with him.
You let out a happy sigh, content with how the night was going so far.
Across the table, Sean was betting Uncle that he could down a bottle of beer faster than she could. Uncle disagreed, claiming that he had been chugging beer since before Sean was born, and therefore would be faster.
Karen waved over a barmaid and ordered two bottles of beer so the men could settle their debate.
Soon enough, the woman returned with a bottle of beer in each hand. She placed them on the table. Instead of leaving, she only took a few steps before stopping, clearly interested in whatever competition was going on.
It wasn’t more than a few seconds later that everyone realized neither Sean nor Uncle would be winning. Sean was too eager and ended up choking himself on the beer as it went down his throat. Uncle, on the other hand, started to pick up his bottle, but his coordination failed and he sent it rolling off the table and landing on the floor just next to Kieran’s feet.
Everyone burst out in laughter, unable to believe that somehow both men had lost the challenge they’d claim they could win.
The waitress rushed over as the beer was spilled over the side of the table. She picked the bottle up, which thankfully hadn’t broken, and put it on the table. Then, she pulled a towel from her apron and started soaking up some of the alcohol on the floor. That all seemed normal, but what she did next certainly wasn’t.
Her hands grabbed a second rag from her apron and she wiped a few drops of beer from Kieran’s boot.
“Let me help you, sir,” she spoke sweetly, pressing her chest out as she did.
She had to be joking. There was no way she couldn’t see your hand in Kieran’s from where she was knelt on the ground. She had no excuse to miss it, especially with the way she was eyeing Kieran like he was prey.
“Oh, well, um,” Kieran stuttered out, having not expected this behavior from the woman. “It’s alright, miss, a little beer won’t hurt,” he reasoned.
Karen, who sat on your other side, seemed to pick up on the situation between you, Kieran, and the waitress and nudged your shoulder to get your attention.
“Try not to kill someone tonight, it’s going pretty well so far,” she teased as she took in your angered expression.
You shook your head and looked to the waitress again, who hadn’t even gotten up off her knees.
One hand stayed on Kieran’s boot while the other slid up to rest on his thigh.
“Are you sure? I wouldn’t mind helping such a handsome man,” she flirted, trying to play innocent.
You weren’t used to feeling jealous. Most of the time, Kieran stayed in camp, so there really was nothing to be jealous of. The only women he ever spoke to were your friends and there was no way anything was going on with any of them.
It was an odd feeling, and it was growing in the pit of your stomach as you watched the girl blink at Kieran.
“I can help him just fine if he needs it,” you interrupted her staring.
Kieran nodded in agreement to what you said, looking at you, then back to the woman.
“Well I think he should decide that,” she replied, her eyes narrowing as they moved from you to Kieran. They softened again as she refocused on the man between the two of you.
“She’s right, miss,” Kieran backed you up. “She’s the only lady I want helping me.”
You smiled slightly, glad that Kieran hadn’t even hesitated to agree with you. Not that you thought he’d do anything else to begin with.
“Have it your way,” she huffed, standing up. “I’ll be behind the bar if you change your mind.”
If looks could kill, she would’ve dropped dead on her way back to work.
“That was odd,” Kieran commented, focusing his attention on you. “I’m not all that used to ladies trying to flirt with me.”
“Not that odd. You’re a handsome man,” you hummed, “And lucky for me, you’re all mine,” you smiled.
Kieran seemed to think for a moment before something clicked.
“Were you gettin’ jealous of her?” He asked, eyes widening slightly in surprise.
“Of course I was,” you confirmed. “Another lady was flirting with you. Only I’m supposed to do that.”
“Well if it makes you feel any better, I don’t want any other ladies flirting with me,” Kieran shrugged. “I only want you.”
“Thank you, love,” you smiled, leaning in to peck his lips gently.
“Course,” he nodded, giving your hand a squeeze. “I did like when you stepped in,” he admitted.
“Yeah?” You chuckled softly. “Why’s that?”
“I dunno,” he shrugged. “Just knowin’ you want me enough to keep other ladies off of me,” he admitted quietly.
“Well I’ll gladly do that any time,” you grinned, leaning your head on his shoulder.
You weren’t used to being jealous, and you knew you had no reason to be. But maybe fending off the ladies every now and then could be interesting.
Hii, saw your requests. How about some soft dom m!reader (if you're comfortable with it) with Javier Peña helping him relax after stressful day or something. Doesn't have to be explicit, it's all entirely up to you.
I don’t currently write smut 😭 and I typically write fem or gn reader, but I can lowkey try and do a fluffy one (gn reader if that’s ok) where reader makes Javi take a break to relax 😭
Warnings: Joel calling you sugar, bc yes that’s a warning (it can cause heart palpitations)
Other tags: Domestic Joel, my love. This can be read with or without an age gap lowkey, short and sweet, Miller brothers LOVING their wives
Background: YOUR HUSBAND IS THE JOEL MILLER
Description: You leave little notes in Joel’s lunch every day. They mean more to him than you would’ve thought.
Ever since the day you’d started living with Joel in Jackson, you’d been packing his lunches that he’d take with him to work for the day. It hadn’t been long after you’d started that habit that another formed. You’d started leaving little notes in Joel’s lunchbox. Sometimes they were sweet reminders of a date night, other times they were just a simple heart.
Neither of you had acknowledged it, it just became part of your routine.
Now, just like every other morning, you had finished getting Joel’s coffee and packing his lunch, so you pulled out a little notepad and pen that you kept in your kitchen.
You wrote a sweet note for him, folding it in half before ripping off the paper from the pad and placing it on top of the sandwich you’d made him.
“I told Tommy I’d meet him at the office a few minutes ago,” Joel sighed as he walked into the kitchen, still buttoning his flannel.
“Don’t blame me,” you defended as you shut his lunchbox. “I’m not the one who insisted on turning the alarm off this morning to stay in bed longer.”
“Well when I wake up next to you, I can’t help it,” he replied, taking a few steps towards you and pulling you in for a quick kiss.
“Sweet talker,” you rolled your eyes playfully, but leaned up to place another kiss against his lips.
Joel smiled, reluctantly pulling away and grabbing his lunchbox and to-go coffee cup from the counter.
“Thank you,” he smiled. He never failed to thank you for making his lunch or his coffee. “I’ll see you after work,” he hummed, kissing your forehead softly, “I love you,” he added as he began to make his way to the front door.
“I love you too,” you called out after him.
================
Joel let out a huff as he sat down on the front steps of a house that the crew was working on. It was a nice spring day out, and the breeze was cooling him off from the sweat he’d been working up all day.
When he had met Tommy in the office that morning, his brother had pulled him out to the site so he could help oversee things. The house was a bigger project than they’d been expecting.
After hours of work, the crew decided to call it and take a lunch break.
Some men went home for lunch, or to the dining hall. The ones that had packed lunches stayed on site. Most of them sat on or around the front porch.
Joel settled on the top porch step, while Tommy sat down a couple steps below, leaning against the railing.
As Joel opened his lunch box, Tommy spoke.
“Note time,” he teased. He and all the other men around the site had taken notice of the little notes in his lunch and the smiles that they drew out of the stoic man.
“Shut the fuck up,” Joel grumbled, shaking his head. His annoyance was forgotten, however, when he saw the note you’d put on top of his sandwich that morning.
This morning, you’d included a drawing with your note.
‘Can’t wait to see you later. I love you’
Below the words, you signed the initial of your first name. But next to that was what really caught his attention. It was a little doodle of what he thought had to be him. It wasn’t realistic by any means, just a cartoon of him, but he swore his chest got tighter.
He never thought someone could love him as much as you do, but here you are, proving it every day.
“You look like a dumbass,” Tommy grinned, shaking his head.
Joel looked up from the note, only realizing now how hard he’d been smiling as he observed the little drawing. He sat the note down on the porch next to him, tucking it under his leg slightly to make sure it wouldn’t blow away.
“At least I get notes in my lunch,” Joel jabbed back, pulling out some cut up carrots you’d packed. “I don’t see Maria leaving you any notes in your lunch.”
“That’s because I pack my own lunches,” Tommy argued, unwrapping the sandwich he’d made himself earlier. “She would if she made my lunches.”
“Uh-huh,” Joel let out a laugh through his nose, “I’m sure she would. It’s not like she needs to. You already follow her around like a puppy.”
“I love my wife, sue me,” Tommy huffed, taking a bite of his sandwich.
“And I love mine,” Joel replied. “Why the hell do you think the notes have me looking like some lovestruck fool?”
“They do make you look like a fool,” Tommy teased. “A huge idiot, actually.”
“If loving my wife makes me a fool, then get me a goddamn jester hat,” Joel shrugged, taking out his sandwich and unwrapping it. He may get some teasing for them, but the notes made his day. He was truly, deeply in love with you and some playful jabs from his brother couldn’t change that.
Tommy shook his head, popping one of the grapes he’d packed himself into his mouth.
They may joke and tease, but at the end of the day, they were both happy that the other had found someone to love, and someone to love them. But still, they were brothers, so they couldn’t just come out and say that.
“So, what is it today?” Tommy asked curiously as he ate another grape.
Joel picked up the note and handed it over to Tommy. His girl drew him and he was damn well going to show that off.
“She drew me,” he answered as Tommy took the note.
“She got it spot on,” Tommy nodded. “Even that little crease between your eyebrows,” he joked, handing the note back to Joel, who put it back down next to him.
================
“I’m home,” Joel called out as he walked into the house.
You were already home. You got off work earlier, which usually meant you were already settled in when he arrived in the evening.
When you heard his voice, you made your way to the front door to find him slipping off his boots.
“Was work alright?” You hummed, moving to wrap your arms around his middle once his boots were off.
“It was okay,” he nodded. “That house needs a lot more work than we thought it would, so it’ll take longer to fix up,” he sighed. “No serious problems, just a bunch of little ones.”
“I’m sure you’ve handled worse,” you smiled, leaning in to peck his lips. “I was just finishing dinner, so go get cleaned up. I know you’re hungry,” you instructed, letting go of him and taking his lunchbox from his hand.
“I’ll take a quick shower, I won’t be long,” he assured, planting a kiss against your temple. Then he was off, already working on unbuttoning his shirt as he went to shower.
You headed to the kitchen, placing Joel’s lunchbox on the counter. Another part of your routine.
Each evening, you’d unpack any leftovers from his lunch. Today, you were met with an empty box, which was no surprise if he was working on site all day.
Not once had you found a note in his lunchbox at the end of the day. You figured he just threw them out after he finished lunch.
================
That evening, after dinner, Ellie had headed off to Dina’s, so you and Joel were left to have a peaceful night in.
The two of you were getting ready to watch a movie in the living room. It was some DVD Joel had found in a roadside store on one of his patrols.
When you entered the living room with a container of homemade chips, Joel was already settled on the couch with your favorite blanket ready and waiting. It made your heart clench. You put the bowl down on the coffee table and happened to catch sight of something on the end table by the couch.
A candle, one that Joel had found on a different patrol months ago, and had brought back to you as a gift for your birthday. You didn’t burn it often, not wanting to use it all up, but tonight you felt like indulging in it.
You pulled out the drawer of the end table, grabbing the lighter you kept there just for the candle.
“Lighting the candle? What’s the special occasion?” Joel teased. Of course, candles weren’t exactly impossible to come by, and you lit other candles often, but Joel knew you only lit this one when you wanted things to be special.
“Just felt like it,” you replied, “Thought it would be nice while we watch the movie,” you hummed, flicking your thumb against the lighter. A spark, then nothing. You repeated the motion, only to get the same result.
“Must be out of lighter fluid,” Joel commented. “We’ll have to refill it.”
“Damn,” you frowned. It sounded dumb, but you had really wanted to light the candle.
“I think I’ve got a little pack of matches in my bedside table,” Joel spoke, “I can go look for them if you want me to,” he offered.
“I got it,” you smiled, kissing his cheek before heading off to the bedroom.
You made your way to Joel’s side of the bed and slid open his bedside table. It wasn't the neatest inside, but Joel’s memory was like a steel trap, so if he said the matches were there, you didn’t doubt it.
Digging around, you seemed to find everything except the matches. Nail clippers, papers, a pocket knife, a pen. That’s when you noticed. Those weren’t just papers.
You picked one up, then another, then another, reading them as you went. They were the notes you’d been leaving in his lunch. He hadn’t been throwing them away, he’d been keeping them this entire time.
Maybe it was silly, but as you took in just how many were in the drawer, you began to tear up. He’d been collecting all your little love notes. It meant more than you had imagined.
“You find ‘em? I know it’s a mess in there.” Joel hummed as he walked into your bedroom, stopping when he saw you not moving. “Are you alright?”
Turning to face Joel, you had a smile on your face. He didn’t notice that first, though, he noticed the tears.
“What happened?” He questioned, taking a few more steps into the room.
“Nothing. Nothing bad, at least,” you assured. You held up the notes in your hand, “What are these?” You asked, as if you needed him to confirm your belief.
“What do you mean? They’re the notes you write me,” he answered, as if it was obvious, which in all honesty, it was.
“I didn’t know you kept them,” you admitted, placing the notes back in his drawer. “They’re never in your lunchbox when you get home, so I figured you were just tossing them every day.”
Joel frowned and walked closer, pulling you in gently by your waist.
“Those notes are one of the ways you show me you love me,” he spoke softly, his voice warm, “I’d never, ever, throw that away.”
You just couldn’t help it, you wrapped your arms around his shoulders and leaned up to place a kiss on his lips. It was impossible not to kiss him after hearing his words.
The kiss lingered for a moment before you both pulled away, but just enough to breathe. Your foreheads fell together as you spoke.
“Under all that grumbling and tough guy attitude, there’s a big ole softy,” you grinned.
Joel rolled his eyes, but made no attempt at denying you. Instead, he replied in the best possible way.
“Only for my girls,” he hummed. It was true, he only got this soft for you and Ellie.
You could feel your heart melting as you pecked his lips again.
The two of you stood there together for a moment, forehead together, just enjoying the silence and the presence of the other.
It was you who broke the silence.
“If they aren’t in your lunchbox when you come home, where do you keep them?” You asked curiously.
“My pocket,” he admitted. “The notes are a little pick-me-up at lunch, then I keep them with me as a little reminder of who I get to come home to at the end of the day.”
“Oh fuck off that’s so sweet,” you smiled, giving him yet another kiss.
Joel chuckled at your reaction, shaking his head.
“Why don’t we forget the candle lighting and just curl up in bed?” You suggested.
“Don’t have to tell me twice,” he smiled, falling over onto the bed and dragging you with him.
You laughed as the two of you crashed into the mattress, still tangled up in a hug.
“You know, you’ve written me so many of those, I ran out of room in my bedside drawer,” he confessed. “I moved most of them to my sock drawer. I had to start putting my socks in with my underwear,” he chuckled. “Now I just keep my favorite ones in the bedside table.”
You grinned, scooting in until there was no possible way you could get any closer.
“I love you so much, Joel Miller,” you said softly, nudging his nose with your own.
“I love you so much, too, sugar,” he smiled, the creases at the corners of his eyes becoming more pronounced.
Who knew such a tough guy could get so soft for some little love notes?
Just got into RDR for the first time.... do I start writing for John Marston???? 👀 I'm only on RDR1 rn (and I'm not even done with it but I alr love that man) so it would be that era of John. Just lmk what the sluts want 🫶🏻

Pairing: Logan Howlett x Reader
Tropes: MILF reader <3
Warnings: None that I know of
Other tags: Logan who is GREAT with kids, but doesn’t know it, extra dramatic backstory that may not be legally accurate bc I said so
Background: You’re raising your adopted son, Arlo, on your own. Wade, Al, and Logan live down the hall from you.
Description: While shopping at the grocery store, you don’t realize that Arlo has let go of the shopping cart. When you look down to talk to him, you realize that he’s gone. Thank god for Wade’s new roommate.
“Can we get some of those little donuts?” Arlo asked, his small hand gripping the shopping cart as you walked down the bread aisle. He knew the rule, if he wanted to walk instead of riding in the cart, he had to hold onto the cart.
“Sure,” you hummed, “What kind? The chocolate ones or the white powdered ones?” You asked.
“The white ones,” he decided. “They’re yummy.”
“White ones it is,” you nodded, stopping the cart in front of the bread you needed. Turning away, you reached up and grabbed a loaf of bread. “You wanna pick out some cereal while we’re here too?” You asked, turning back to the cart, only to find that Arlo was gone.
Looking down the aisle, he was nowhere to be seen.
================
Logan stood on one side of the aisle, observing the different kinds of granola bars. Why were there so many goddamn flavors anyway? His focus was drawn away from the boxes on the shelves when he felt a tug on his pants.
Looking down, he saw a young boy with tears falling down his cheeks.
“Uh,” Logan froze, not sure how to interact with a child. “Hi.”
“I can’t find my mama,” the boy cried, his tears coming down harder.
“What does she look like?” He asked, kneeling down so he was closer to the kid’s height.
The boy only cried in response, clearly scared and missing his mom.
“Alright,” he replied, looking around as he stood up and tried to decide what to do. “Let’s go to the front of the store. Then they can find your mom, okay?”
The boy nodded, letting go of Logan’s pants to hold out both arms at the man. Grabby hands. How could anyone say no to that?
Logan sighed, debating it in his head before leaning down and scooping the boy into his arms. As he walked to the front of the store, the boy’s tears slowed until they eventually came to a stop. The boy laid his head down on Logan’s shoulder while one of his hands held an iron grip on the front of Logan’s flannel.
“Excuse me,” Logan spoke, walking up to the customer service desk.
“How can I help you?” The woman at the desk asked.
“He can’t find his mom,” Logan explained, nodding towards the boy in his arms.
“Let me make an announcement,” the worker gave the boy a sympathetic smile. She picked up a phone from the counter, putting it up to her ear and hitting a few buttons on the keypad. “Attention shoppers, we have a lost little boy at the customer service desk. If he is your child, please come pick him up.” After the announcement was made, she hung the phone up.
“Alright, kid,” Logan said. “Now you just gotta wait for your mom to come get you.”
“I’m Cherie,” the worker spoke softly to the boy. “You wanna stay here with me while we wait on your mom?” She offered, holding out her hands.
Logan moved to pull the child away from him and hand him to Cherie, but Arlo began to cry again. His grip on Logan’s flannel tightened.
“C’mon kid, you gotta let go,” Logan encouraged.
The boy cried harder, bawling as he tried to desperately stay in Logan’s arms.
“It’s alright, angel,” Cherie hushed. Based on her tone, Logan could tell that this woman had certainly dealt with kids before. She was definitely a better person to watch the boy temporarily, but kids want what they want.
“Okay, okay,” Logan relented, holding the boy close to his chest again. “I’ll stay, just stop crying. You don’t have to cry.” He looked to the worker, “I’ll stay with him ‘til his mom gets here.”
Despite being secure in Logan’s arms again, the tears didn’t stop.
“Shhh,” Logan attempted, gently swaying with the boy in his arms. He wasn’t sure what he was doing, but he’d seen mothers do it with their babies before.
The tears just kept coming.
Logan looked around, spotting a small display of stuffed animals. He reached out with one hand, grabbing the first one he could and holding it up in front of the boy.
“Look at this,” he redirected the boy’s attention, shaking the toy slightly.
Sniffling a few times, the boy in his arms slowly stopped crying. He used his free hand to grab the animal, pulling it to his chest.
“Fox,” he said simply, looking at the orange and white stuffie in his arm. “I like foxes. Thanks.” His voice was barely more than a whisper.
“Yeah, it’s a fox. You’re welcome,” Logan nodded, just happy that he had made the kid stop crying. With his free hand, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a few dollars. “For the fox,” he commented to the worker, who just smiled and nodded.
Logan moved to sit down on a bench in the customer service area. As expected, the boy refused to move from his lap. So, there they sat. Logan, a mutant, and on his lap, a lost kid holding a stuffed fox. Quite the pair.
================
“Oh thank god!” You exclaimed as you walked into the customer service area. “Arlo!”
“Mama!” Arlo exclaimed from where he sat on a man’s lap.
“Told you she’d be here,” the man said as he helped Arlo down from his lap. He looked familiar, but you were more concerned about Arlo.
The moment his feet hit the ground, Arlo was running towards you with his arms reaching out.
As he reached you, you dropped to one knee so you could wrap your arms around him. Your arms held him tightly to your chest.
“Honey, I’m so glad you’re okay. I was so worried,” you breathed out, closing your now teary eyes as you held him.
“I’m sorry,” he said softly, beginning to cry as you held him.
“Hey, it’s alright, sweetheart,” you assured, pulling away enough so you could see each other’s faces. “You’re not in trouble. Just promise me you won’t run off like that ever again.”
“I promise,” he nodded, leaning back in to cling to you.
You slowly stood, picking Arlo up as you did so.
“Thank you so much,” you spoke to the man that had been with Arlo, who was now standing. Now that you got a good look at him, you knew why you recognized him. “Wait, you’re Wade’s roommate, aren’t you?” You asked.
Logan gives you a strange look, so you continue talking.
“We live down the hall,” you explained. “Arlo loves talking Wade’s ear off whenever we run into each other.”
“Probably because they’re on the same learning level,” Logan joked. He held out a hand for you to shake as he introduced himself. “Logan.”
You supported Arlo on your hip as you took his hand in yours. As you shook his hand, you gave him your name in return.
“And, of course, you’ve met Arlo,” you added, letting go of his (very warm, very large) hand and squeezing the boy in your arms for emphasis.
“Arlo,” Logan smiled slightly at the boy. He hadn’t expected the little munchkin to grow on him so quickly, yet here he was.
“I knew you,” Arlo stated.
“You knew it was Logan?” You asked.
“I knew he was Wade’s friend,” he smiled proudly. “The big guy with kitty ears,” he clarified, pointing to Logan’s hair and giggling.
“Kitty ears?” Logan asked, raising a brow. “I’ve never gotten that before.”
“I like them,” Arlo hummed happily. “They look like fox ears too,” he observed, holding up the stuffed fox with both hands.
Logan let out a breathy chuckle, tucking his hands in his pockets.
“Thank you again,” you told Logan. “I really owe you big time,” you smiled. “It’s just me and Arlo, I don’t know what I would’ve done if something happened.”
“No need,” Logan shook his head. Now that he’d learned it was just you and Arlo, he decided to try and flirt with you. “He’s a nice kid. And he’s got a very nice mom,” Logan gave you a small grin, which came across as more of a smirk.
You aren’t sure how to react. It wasn’t like you had guys lining up to date you. Most of them didn’t want to flirt with a single mom. You weren’t even sure if he was flirting. What could you say? You were a little out of practice.
“At least let me make you dinner,” you offered. You tried not to sound too hopeful, but you were almost positive that you’d failed.
“Pretty please,” Arlo chimed in, sticking out his bottom lip and giving Logan his most convincing puppy dog eyes.
“Well when you put it like that,” Logan smiled, reaching a hand out to ruffle Arlo’s hair, which earned him a giggle. “I’d love to.”
“If tomorrow night works for you, we don’t have anything going on,” you suggested.
“Sure,” Logan nodded. “I’m free.”
After deciding on a time, you caught a glance of your watch and realized you had to get Arlo to home to make dinner tonight.
“We should get home, gotta finish shopping and get this little gremlin fed,” you chuckled. “Arlo, tell Logan goodbye.”
“Bye!” Arlo gave Logan a big grin. “We can play when you come over tomorrow.”
“Sounds fun,” Logan nodded, smiling at Arlo.
“We’ll see you tomorrow,” you smiled. “And feel free to stop by anytime,” you added as you started to walk away.
================
“Mama! There’s someone at the door! I bet it’s Logan,” Arlo exclaimed, running into the kitchen, where you were working on finishing dinner.
“Okay, okay,” you chuckled, making sure nothing would burn as you wiped your hands off on a towel and headed to the door with Arlo. You checked the peephole, confirming that it was Logan, before opening the door.
You and Logan didn’t have a chance to speak before Arlo was jumping up and down.
“Logan!” He grinned, practically vibrating with excitement. He held both hands out for Logan.
“Hey, bub,” Logan greeted, picking Arlo up into his arms with a small ‘woosh’ sound. He then turned his attention to you, smiling softly.
“I’m just finishing up dinner,” you hummed, stepping aside and letting Logan in. You shut the door behind him as he toed off his shoes neatly next to the door.
“Take your time,” Logan replied, not wanting you to feel pressured.
“That means we can go play in the living room,” Arlo giggled. “Me and Fink were just playing in there.”
“Fink?” Logan raised a brow. What the hell was a Fink?
“Yeah,” he nodded. “The fox you got me. His name is Fink.”
“Oh,” Logan chuckled softly. “We can go play with Fink before dinner as long as it’s alright with your mom.”
“Please mama,” Arlo looked at you, giving you his brightest smile. “Can me and Logan go play while you cook?”
“You can,” you laughed softly at Arlo’s excitement. “Play nice, okay?”
“I will!” He promised, wriggling around until Logan put him down. He grabbed the man’s hand, tugging on it. “C’mon, c’mon, I wanna show you my toys.”
You and Logan shared an amused look before Logan let Arlo drag him off to your living room.
================
“Hey, you two, dinner’s rea-,” you stopped mid sentence as you walked into the living room. You hadn’t expected the scene in front of you.
Logan sat on the floor with Arlo, who’s hair was now pulled up into two tufts on top of his head.
“Look mama!” Arlo spoke proudly. “I asked Logan to make us match! Do we look cool?”
“You look very cool, sweetheart,” you chuckled softly. “You’re both very handsome. But even cool guys have to eat dinner.”
“Yeah, to be big and strong,” Arlo nodded, hopping up from the floor and rushing off to the table.
Logan stood up from the floor, groaning softly.
“Didn’t know you were a hairdresser,” you joked as he began following you to the table as well.
“Well when he gives me those big puppy eyes, I can’t say no,” Logan defended.
“You’ve got me there,” you chuckled softly. “You can go sit at the table, I’ll bring in dinner.”
================
Dinner with Logan felt good. Domestic. Arlo yapped about his current favorite show while you and Logan chuckled. As much as you loved Arlo, you did want to talk to Logan without having every other sentence be about Nubs the pooba boy from a Star Wars show Arlo was obsessed with.
“Alright, bud, it’s time to head to bed,” you hummed to Arlo. After dinner, the three of you had stayed at the table talking, and now it was time for him to get some sleep.
“Do I have to?” Arlo frowned. “I wanna stay up and play with Logan some more.”
“Listen to your mom,” Logan replied before you could. “If you go to bed now, we can play another time. Deal?”
“Deal,” Arlo nodded, accepting Logan’s offer. He climbed out of his chair and walked off in the direction of his room.
“If you wanna wait in the living room, I’ll be back out after I get him down,” you told Logan as you stood.
Logan gave you a nod before you walked off after Arlo to help him get ready for bed.
“I like Logan,” Arlo stated as you stepped into his room. “He’s fun.”
You chuckled softly, getting into Arlo’s dresser to pull out a couple pairs of his favorite pajamas. One was yellow and covered in dinosaurs, while the other was light blue with green stripes.
“Which pajamas do you wanna wear tonight?” You asked, holding up both pairs for him to pick from.
“Dinosaurs!” He grinned.
“Dinosaurs it is,” you nodded, putting the other pajamas back in the drawer for another night.
Once Arlo was changed into his pajamas, you helped him brush his teeth. The two of you went back into his room so that he could lay down.
“Wait!” Arlo gasped before he could climb into bed. “I have to go get Fink and tell Logan goodnight.”
Of course he had to tell Logan goodnight. What had you been thinking?
================
“Logan!” Arlo giggled as he ran into the living room. Logan was sitting on the couch as he waited for you to come back.
“I thought you were going to bed,” Logan chuckled at Arlo’s energy.
“Had to come get Fink,” Arlo answered, grabbing the stuffed fox from where he’d left it on a chair before dinner. “And I wanted to tell you goodnight,” he smiled, climbing on the couch next to Logan and wrapping his arms around the man to the best of his abilities.
Logan was surprised, to say the least. It wasn’t exactly a regular occurrence for kids to come up and hug him. After a split second of shock, he wrapped both arms around Arlo and gave him a soft squeeze.
“G’night,” he hummed before letting go of Arlo.
“Goodnight,” Arlo grinned, planting a kiss on Logan’s cheek before hopping up and running back to his room where you were waiting on him.
“You ready to go to sleep now?” You asked as he hopped up on the bed.
“Yep!” He nodded, crawling under his blankets.
As he got settled, you leaned over and flicked on his night light. Then, tucked him into bed, smiling as he wiggled around to get comfortable.
“Do you think we can get ice cream with Logan and Wade one day?” Arlo asked hopefully.
“We’ll see, sweetie,” you chuckled, leaning down to press a kiss to his forehead.
“Goodnight, mama,” he smiled softly at you, “I love you.”
“Night, bud. I love you,” you replied, standing from the bed and heading for the door. “Sleep tight,” you added, flicking the lightswitch and leaving his room, pulling the door closed as you did.
Now that he was in bed, you made your way back to the living room.
“He’s in bed,” you spoke as you entered the room. “He’ll be out in a few minutes. That kid can fall asleep anywhere,” you chuckled softly, plopping down on the couch next to Logan. You left a little bit of space between the two of you, not wanting to make things weird.
“It must be nice,” Logan joked, an amused breath leaving his nose.
“One time I found him asleep halfway through using the bathroom. He had his head leaned over against the toilet paper roll,” you laughed at the memory.
“Jesus,” Logan laughed along with you. “He must keep you on your toes.”
“You have no idea,” you chuckled, pulling one leg up onto the couch so you could face Logan as you talked. “He’s got enough energy for about a dozen kids. But when he’s out, he sleeps like the dead.”
“He definitely has the energy,” Logan agreed. “But he seems like a good kid.”
“He is,” you smiled proudly. “He’s a great kid. One of the sweetest kids I know. Maybe I just think that because I’m biased,” you joked.
“I don’t think so,” Logan smiled. “He’s sweet. When he and I were playing earlier while you cooked, he was always offering to share whatever toy he had. Not a lot of kids are offering to share things.”
“I try my best with him. I wasn’t sure if I was ready to be a mom, but then Arlo came along, and I dunno, it was just, it was right,” you spoke fondly.
“It can’t be easy being a single mother,” Logan started, “You’re doin’ great. He’s lucky to have you.”
“Thank you,” you said softly. Nobody had ever told you anything like that before. You weren’t really sure how to react. “I hadn’t really expected to be a single mom, but I don’t have any regrets. I adopted him when he was just a baby, but that’s a story for another time.”
“I didn’t realize,” Logan replied. “He’s even luckier to have you than I thought, then.”
You smiled at Logan, feeling so grateful that the mishap at the supermarket had happened. You enjoyed having him around.
=================
“Tonight was nice,” you told Logan as you walked him to the door. It was getting late, and you had to be up the next morning.
Logan put his shoes on while you opened the door.
“I had a good time,” Logan smiled slightly at you as he stood.
You both stepped into the hallway, and you pulled the door most of the way around behind you.
“Thank you again, for yesterday,” you hummed, leaning against the wall next to your door.
“No, thank you,” he replied, “For dinner. It’s not often I get a home cooked meal.”
“Well, feel free to come by for more anytime,” you smiled up at him, “Even if it’s just chicken nuggets and mac n cheese, you’re more than welcome to join us.”
Logan chuckled softly, nodding at your invitation.
“I’d say that you two are welcome to drop by Wade and I’s place, but that is not fit for children,” he joked.
You laughed, unable to help yourself. Joking with Logan felt so natural.
“Well,” Logan spoke again. “I should get out of your hair, but I’ll see ya around, yeah?” He tried not to sound too hopeful.
“Yeah, I’ll see you around,” you nodded in response.
Logan hesitated for a fraction of a second before leaning in and placing a barely there kiss on your cheek.
“I’d really like to see you again sometime. As a date,” he admitted. “I understand that dating is more difficult when you have a kid because you have to consider Arlo when you make decisions, but I’d like to see where this goes.” He couldn’t remember the last time he’d asked someone else, and all he could do was pray he wasn’t making a fool of himself.
“I would love that, Logan,” you grinned. He was the first man to ever consider Arlo when it came to dating you. He seemed like the type of man to know that you had to put Arlo first. “Arlo is having a sleepover at my sister’s with his cousins this weekend. Maybe we could get dinner then? Just the two of us this time.”
“That sounds great,” Logan nodded, trying and failing to fight off a smile. He felt like a goddamn blushing school boy. “I’ll come by at seven so we can go to dinner.”
“Perfect,” you smiled. You leaned up, placing a quick peck on his lips. “I can’t wait.”
Logan was shocked that you’d kissed him, but he certainly wasn’t complaining. He opened his mouth to speak, but was interrupted by a voice from inside your apartment.
“Mama?” Arlo called out for you from his room. He must’ve had a nightmare or want a glass of water.
“Duty calls,” you joked. “Goodnight Logan,” you hummed, stepping back into your apartment.
“Night,” he replied, giving you a small nod as you shut the apartment door to go check on Arlo.
After the door was shut, Logan realized he was smiling like an absolute idiot. He hadn’t been this excited for a date since…. He couldn’t actually remember.
Turning on his heel, he headed down the hallway back to Wade’s. He couldn’t stop smiling.
Walking into the apartment, he groaned as he saw Wade laying on the couch as if he had been waiting for Logan to get back.
“Stop looking at me like that,” he huffed, shutting the door behind him.
“Like what, peanut?” Wade shrugged. “I just wanna know how things went with the hot milf down the hall.”
“Fuck off,” Logan rolled his eyes, dropping his keys on the entry table and walking off to go to bed.
“I’ll take that as ‘It went great, Wade, you officially have a nephew now’. Is that about right?” He called after Logan.
Logan ignored Wade, shaking his head. He had to admit, though, things had gone great with the hot milf down the hall. And it would only get better.
I'm lowkey picturing Origins Logan for this, but honestly it's not super specific so you can imagine any era. Also yes I'm on my period, it's a bitch
Pairing: Logan Howlett x Reader
Tropes: Comfort
Warnings: Reader has a period/period cramps
Other tags: Reader is mentioned to be a mutant, but nothing is specified
Background: You and Logan have been dating for a short amount of time.
Description: When you happen to get your period the day of your date night with Logan, you feel horrible and you’re forced to cancel. Logan shows you that he cares more than you knew.
“Hey, honey,” Logan’s voice rang through your ears as he picked up the phone.
“Hey, Lo,” you replied. You felt bad for having to call and cancel date night, but your cramps had been killing you since you’d woken up in a small puddle of your own blood. There was no way that you could go out somewhere, not tonight. “I’m really sorry, but I’ve gotta ask for a rain check on dinner tonight.”
“Everything alright?” He replied. He was less worried about a canceled date night, more concerned with if you were okay.
“Yeah, no big deal, I just haven’t felt good today,” you answered. You weren’t totally lying, you just didn’t explain the reason you weren’t feeling good. “I think I just need to stay in tonight and sleep.”
“Well, call me if you need something,” he said.
“I will,” you assured, a small smile on your face. He really was a very sweet man, when he wasn’t brooding. “I’ll call you tomorrow, hopefully we can go to dinner if I feel better.”
“Alright, sweetheart,” he hummed through the phone. “I’ll talk to you then.”
Your smile shifted to a frown as you hung the phone up. Truthfully, you wanted nothing more than to see Logan. You felt like being wrapped up in his arms right now could make everything feel better. That being said, you weren’t sure how Logan would react to you getting your period. Not every man was understanding about it.
Making your way back to your couch, where you’d spent the majority of your day, you grabbed your trusty heating pad and got comfortable on the soft cushions of the sofa. Once you got settled and adjusted the heating pad so it was just right, you snatched your favorite blanket from the back of your couch.
After a few minutes, you were just about as comfortable as you were going to get. Not that anything felt very comfortable thanks to the throbbing pain in your lower back. Sighing at the thought, you grabbed the tv remote and flicked it on. You clicked through some different options before landing on a movie you’ve seen a million times. It was comforting, and it was one of your favorites. Exactly what you needed in this moment.
You’d spent only a few minutes watching the movie when there was a knock at the door. Great, now you had to leave your little nest on the couch to answer the knocking.
With a huff, you threw the covers from your body, along with the heating pad, and stood. The walk to the door felt like an entire trek in your current state. Once you reached the door, you peaked out the little hole, only to see Logan taking up your entire vision.
You were confused as to why he was at your door, but still, it made you smile just to see him after the day you’d had. Opening the door, you leaned against it lightly.
“What did I do to deserve you showing up on my doorstep?” You asked, smiling softly at him.
“You sounded different on the phone,” he started. “So I thought I’d come check on you.”
God, he was so nice. It was hard to believe that you’d managed to find the perfect boyfriend, but here he was, at your door. He was being so sweet, and he looked good while doing it. It was absolutely ridiculous, and you loved every second.
“Well since you’re here, why don’t you come in?” You offered, stepping aside.
He stepped into your home, giving you a quick peck as he passed. Once the door was closed, he gently grabbed your shoulders and started looking over you as if giving you some sort of inspection.
“You alright?” You asked, chuckling softly. “Or are you just giving me a check up for fun?”
“Where’re you hurt?” He asked, his brows drawn together as he held onto your shoulders, now keeping you facing him.
“Hurt?” You questioned, confusion clear on your face. “I’m not hurt, Lo, I’m just not feeling good,” you explained. Moving his hands from your shoulders gently, you leaned up to peck his lips. “Promise, I’m okay.”
“Honey, I know you’re lying,” he shook his head. “Just tell me the truth. I can smell the blood on you. Your blood. So what happened?”
“Oh,” you mumbled. You could feel your cheeks getting warm. He could smell your blood. Struggles of dating a fellow mutant, you guessed. You were positive that you’d never been so embarrassed before.
“Did someone do something?” He asked, his fists clenching at his sides.
“No, Logan, nobody did anything,” you sighed. “I’ll explain the blood smell if you promise not to be weird about it or something.”
“Not be weird?” He questioned, but nodded. “I won’t be weird about it, whatever it is.”
“It’s because it’s that time of the month,” you finally admitted. “That’s why I canceled dinner tonight. I’ve felt like shit all day, and I didn’t feel up to going out.”
You watched Logan’s face as things seemed to click for him.
“I guess I should’ve thought about that before interrogating you about smelling like blood,” he replied, scratching the side of his neck. He seemed to think for another moment before speaking again. “Why wouldn’t you just tell me that, honey?” He asked. His voice was soft, and it made you feel almost bad for not just telling him to begin with.
“Didn’t know how you reacted,” you answered with a shrug. “Some men are weird, or find it gross. Or they just make it awkward. We just haven’t been dating too long, and I didn’t know what you’d think.”
“Sweetheart,” Logan chuckled, wrapping his arms around your shoulders and pulling you into his chest. “I started dating you knowing that you’re a woman. I knew you’d have periods,” he hummed, looking down at you. “Anyone who gets grossed out isn’t a man, that’s a boy, and he’s an idiot.”
Your arms wrapped around his middle as you rested your chin on his chest to return his gaze.
“If you would’ve told me, I would’ve just offered to bring takeout and snacks. We could just have a night in instead of going out to dinner,” he explained. “I don’t care where date night is,” he added. “I just wanted to spend time with my girl.”
“Oh fuck off,” you sniffed, your eyes beginning to tear up. Stupid hormones. “That’s so nice,” you said softly, turning your head to hide in his chest.
Logan’s arms tightened around you and he gently swayed the two of you. He knew that you were only this emotional due to the imbalance in your body, and he was there to comfort you through that.
“Since you’re here,” you began quietly, lifting your head. You were sure that your eyes were rimmed with red now, but you didn’t really care. “Will you stay?”
“You think I’m gonna leave you here in pain and crying?” He replied, leaning down to press a soft kiss to your lips. “Try again, honey,” he smiled.
“I was just watching a movie in the living room,” you smiled softly at him. “Wanna join me?”
“Let me go change into something comfortable, and then we’ll watch as many movies as you want,” he nodded. “Go get comfy, I’ll be there in a few,” he hummed. He reluctantly let go of you to toe off his shoes and walk off towards your bedroom.
You made your way back into the living room, letting out a content sigh as you plopped onto the couch. Having Logan as yours was truly a blessing. You were convinced you were the luckiest fucker out there.
Just as he said, Logan walked into your living room after a few minutes. He was wearing some plaid pajama pants and a tank that he’d left at your place for any impromptu sleepovers, like tonight.
Logan sat next to you, putting an arm around your shoulders and planting a kiss against your temple.
“You need anything before we start watching?” He asked, kissing your cheek a few times.
“Just you,” you replied. It was cheesy, sure, but it was true.
“Real cute,” he teased, planting one more kiss to the side of your head before getting comfortable himself, relaxing into the couch.
You just smiled, grabbing the remote and starting the movie over. As the two of you watched the beginning of the movie, you were adjusting and squirming, trying to get comfortable. Logan, ever observant, noticed.
“You alright?” He hummed, giving your shoulders a squeeze.
“Just can’t get comfortable,” you admitted with a frown. “My back is fucking killing me. Why can’t my mutation be always being comfy?” You huffed.
“C’mere,” Logan replied, guiding you into his lap. He adjusted you until you were straddling his lap facing him.
“You don’t mind me sitting on your lap? Since, y’know,” you trailed off, nodding downward.
“Do you realize how much blood I’ve had on my hands?” He raised a brow, amused. “I don’t give a shit, honey. Just relax,” he said softly.
You couldn’t help but chuckle softly as you let him guide you to lean against his chest. Your head laid on his shoulder and you closed your eyes.
“I’ve got you,” he hummed out, his hands sliding to rest on your lower back. He started gently rubbing your back. His hands felt so warm and so big against your back. You were positive nothing felt this good.
The two of you stayed silent, the only noise was the movie playing on your tv. Logan’s hands didn’t stop rubbing and gently kneading at your lower back.
You were nearly asleep when you decided to speak again.
“Thank you,” your voice was slurred with sleepiness, and the fact that your cheek was smooshed against his shoulder didn’t help.
“Is this helping?” He asked, but you could nearly hear the smile on his lips. He knew you were on the verge of sleep, and he was happy that he could help you get comfortable.
“Mhm,” you nodded your head against him. “But I meant for coming over. You bein’ here makes it better.”
“I’ll be here anytime you need me,” he assured quietly. “Go to sleep, honey. I’ll carry you to bed.”
“I love you, Logan,” you hummed. You were sleepy, sure, but you had to tell him how you felt. You’d been wanting to tell him for a little while, and at this moment, you couldn’t keep it to yourself any longer. It was soon, but you’d never been more sure about anything.
“I love you too,” he replied, kissing your head gently. “I’ll take care of you as long as you’ll let me,” he added, his voice low and rumbling through his chest.
“You’ll never get rid of me,” you mumbled, yawning softly.
“Good,” he said quietly, giving you a small squeeze.
The last thing you remember thinking before falling asleep was that next time, you’d call Logan with any problem, because you knew he’d be there. He’d always be there, just for you.
I'm picturing Trilogy Logan, but lowkey just imagine who you want, we're all sluts for this man in any form. I think this is gender neutral, but if I missed something just tell me.
Pairing: Logan Howlett x Reader
Tropes: None ?
Warnings: None really, dick jokes
Other tags: Logan being a good partner, x-men merch as a joke
Background: You’d been planning on spending Valentine’s with your boyfriend, Logan. However, Charles had a mission that you had to go on, so your plans are pushed aside.
Description: Returning home from a mission in the middle of the night on Valentine’s Day wasn’t your idea of a romantic way to celebrate the holiday. Logan somehow makes it feel perfect anyways.
You’re not sure you can remember a time that you’d been so happy to return to the mansion. The mission had been more taxing than expected and you were exhausted. Thank god you’d showered before the trip home, because you were ready to crash.
A yawn left your mouth as you walked towards Logan and your shared bedroom. You assumed Logan was already in bed, and you absolutely couldn’t wait to join him.
Approaching the door to your room, you could see that light was still leaking out of the gap between the floor and the bottom of the door. Apparently Logan wasn’t already in bed. You shrugged it off, figuring that he had decided to wait up for you. That wasn’t out of the ordinary, after all.
You opened the door, walking in and dropping your bag on the floor. As you closed the door behind you, your brain finally registered what was in front of you.
Logan sat at the end of the bed, wearing some ridiculous Valentine’s day pajama pants that you’d gotten him last year as a gag gift. He’s opted out of putting a shirt on. It wasn’t like he wore one to sleep in, anyways.
“Now this is something to come home to,” you smiled, walking over to stand between his legs.
“Figured we missed having a special date,” he shrugged, his hands sliding up to rest on your hops. “Thought we could at least have some time to ourselves now that you’re home.”
“You’re sweet,” you hummed, sliding one hand through his hair, playing with it gently. “I’ve been waiting to come home to you all day.”
“Why don’t you get changed into some pajamas and come to bed, then?” He suggested, leaning in to place a gentle kiss on your stomach through your shirt.
“That is the best idea I’ve heard today,” you nodded. “I’ll be right back,” you added, reluctantly pulling away from him to cross the room and look through your dresser for some pajamas to wear.
“I already got your pajamas out,” Logan spoke up. “They’re in the bathroom on the counter.”
You turned to face your boyfriend, narrowing your eyes.
“If I go in there and find lingerie on the counter, you’re sleeping on the floor, I’m way too tired for that,” you joked, though you’d never mean it. There was no way you’d kick Logan out of bed.
“It’s not,” he assured you, his lips quirking up in a smile. “Just go change and come back.”
You shook your head, chuckling softly as you made your way into the bathroom. Just as he’d said, there were clothes on the bathroom counter for you. As you got closer, you spotted a small card on top. You snorted softly when you saw the design. It was a cartoon of Logan in the Wolverine suit, laws out and all, with the words ‘Lookin’ sharp, Valentine’ written out beside it.
Of course he’d gotten you a silly Wolverine card. He knew that you found any X-Men themed things funny. It was always amusing seeing your closest friends advertised on anything. From cereal boxes to comic books to t-shirts.
Still smiling, you opened the card to see what he had written inside.
‘I know this isn’t what you expected, but I hope I can make it a good Valentine’s. Love, Lo.’
You let out a content sigh. Logan was a big softie underneath all that muscle and gruffness. Placing the card to the side, you moved on to the shirt that was laying on the counter. Picking it up, you realized that it was all black aside from a small red heart on the left side of the chest. It was at least two sizes too big for you, perfect for sleeping in. Even as you held it slightly away from you as you looked at it, you could tell that it smelled like Logan.
Putting the shirt back down, you noticed that something had been underneath it. Underwear. Not some uncomfortable lingerie, but your favorite kind, the comfy ones that always fit just right and happened to look great on your ass. They were clearly new, and they were red to match the heart on the shirt. Chuckling softly, you slipped off your shirt and bra, followed by your pants and underwear.
Once you were stripped out of your clothes, you slipped on the underwear and shirt that Logan had put out for you. The outfit made the perfect pajamas, especially after the day you’d had.
You took a breath through your nose and it only took you a moment to realize that you smelled like Logan. More than you’d noticed originally. You lifted part of the shirt to your nose and took a deep breath. It was definitely Logan’s scent, and it was strong. You’d ask him about it when you went to bed.
Moving as quickly as possible, you went through your nighttime routine. You were more than ready to just curl up with Logan for the night. Once you were done, you finally emerged from the bathroom and walked back into the bedroom.
You couldn’t help but smile when you saw Logan sitting on the bed. He had moved, now leaning against the headboard as he read a book.
“Thank you for the gift, love,” you said softly as you climbed into bed next to him. You leaned in, placing a soft kiss on his cheek. “And the card, I’m totally framing that one.”
“Thought you’d like it,” he smiled, putting his book on the bedside table and turning his attention to you. “You look good in that shirt,” he added before leaning in to place a proper kiss on your lips.
“It smells like you,” you commented as you pulled away from his lips.
“I know you like wearin’ my shirts,” he replied, “So I wore it to bed last night while you were gone. Figured you’d like it if it smelled like me.”
“God you know me so well,” you grinned, pecking his lips. “I couldn’t ask for a better Valentine, you know that?”
“Neither could I, sweetheart,” he agreed. “Before we go to sleep, I’ve got one more surprise for you.”
“Oh yeah?” You asked, raising a brow. “Would it happen to be another kiss?”
“No, but you can have one of those too,” he hummed, leaning in to kiss your lips one more time before standing up from the bed.
“Where’re you goin’?” You frowned.
“Just wait,” he chuckled. “I’m not goin’ anywhere.”
Before you could reply, Logan was pulling at the string of his pajama pants. This had taken a turn. He gave his hips a little sway, a laugh leaving his lips.
“I get a strip tease?” You snickered, “Now this is a gift, honey.”
“Not a strip tease,” he shook his head, dropping his pajama pants and stepping out of them. He was left in nothing but black boxers.
“If you’re about to tell me that your dick is the present, I’m going to throw something at you.”
“The present isn’t my dick,” he shook his head. He turned around, facing away from you.
You were confused, but you weren’t going to pass up a chance to ogle at your boyfriend. Your eyes slid from his broad shoulders to his waist. He must’ve been carved by the gods. Letting your eyes fall even lower, you found the ‘gift’ he was talking about.
Right on the bowers, over his left asscheek, there was a bright red heart.
Even if he didn’t show it often, you enjoyed when Logan was goofy around you. You laughed softly, rolling across the bed so you could reach out and give his ass a small squeeze with one hand.
“I like my surprise,” you smiled. “Gives me a nice target for when I wanna smack your ass.”
“Watch it baby, I smack back,” he chuckled.
Logan turned back around, a smile on his face. He waited for you to move before climbing in on his side of the bed again, facing you this time. As soon as he was comfortable, he pulled you into his chest and placed a kiss on the top of your head.
“I know it isn’t what we were originally thinking of when we talked about our Valentine’s plans, but this is perfect,” you said softly, looking up at Logan and kissing the underside of his chin.
“We could’ve spent today on a mission in the middle of nowhere, as long as you’re there, it’s a good Valentine’s to me,” Logan responded, tilting his head so he could look at you.
“You’re a real sweetheart,” you grinned, closing the distance between you to give him a gentle kiss. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” he replied quietly, pecking your lips once more before fully pulling away. He reached over to turn the lamp off. Now that the room was dark, you were sure you’d only last a few minutes before sleep took over.
“We’ll have our Valentine’s date tomorrow,” Logan hummed out, and you could feel his chest vibrate as he spoke.
“Can’t wait to give you my gift,” you smiled softly, closing your eyes and tucking your face into his chest.
“I can’t wait to give you mine,” he returned. “But for now, you need some rest. Goodnight, honey. Happy Valentine’s Day.” His voice was low and smooth and it had you ready to pass out.
“Goodnight, Lo,” you sighed out happily. “Happy Valentine’s, baby.”
Maybe it wasn’t the most normal way to celebrate the romantic holiday, but as mutants, nothing was ever really ‘normal’. And you wouldn’t have it any other way.

Later, you run into Logan again, but before the conversation can go too far, you’re interrupted by Stryker showing up at the mansion. When the dust finally settles, you and Logan finally get the chance to talk.
You’d been waiting for Logan to come back since the day he left. He’d given you his dog tags the day he left, asking you to keep them safe for him. Since then, you've carried them with you everywhere.
While you were in your room working on something that Charles wanted you to take a look at, you swore you could hear the sound of Scott’s motorcycle outside. That couldn’t be, Logan had taken it for his trip. There was no way.
Getting up from where you’d been sitting in your bed, you made your way over to the window and peeked out. When you saw Logan climbing off of the motorcycle, your eyes lit up. Unable to help yourself, you rushed out of your room and down the hall. As you reached the steps, you went down two at a time.
By the time you made it to the front door, Logan was standing there, his bag still slung over his shoulder. He looked just the same as he had when he left, which was really no surprise. When he spotted you, he gave you a small smile.
You ran towards him, nearly tackling him in a bear hug. Your arms wrapped over his shoulders, while his responded by wrapping around your waist. Not wanting to be clingy, you let go before too much time could pass.
“You miss me?” He asked with a smile, which, knowing Logan, was really more of a smirk.
“We all did,” you replied, not wanting to make it seem like you had missed him any more than anyone else, even if you had.
“How have things been here?” He hummed, tilting his head as he waited for your answer.
“Same as always, chaotic,” you joked. “Last week, a kid blew a hole through the wall in the kitchen by accident when he sneezed. How was your trip? You find what you were looking for?” You asked curiously.
“Kinda,” he shrugged, “I’ve gotta talk to Chuck about it. How have you been?” He questioned.
“I’ve been alright,” you replied. “I’ve been working on something Charles wanted me to take a look at. So far, I haven’t been able to get too far with it, but I’ve got a few more ideas to try before I give up.”
Logan nodded as you spoke, seemingly interested in what you were saying.
“Oh, before I forget,” you hummed, “I have something for you.” Before he could ask what it was, you raised your arm and smacked him on the chest. You tried not to let your thoughts linger on how much muscle was there. “That’s for being gone so long.”
“That your way of saying you missed me?” He teased.
“Okay, maybe I did miss you, just a little,” you relented, crossing your arms.
“Just a little?” He raised a brow. “You’re killing me, sweetheart.”
“Fine, maybe more than a little,” you huffed. “I even started missing those little tufts of hair that look like cat ears,” you joked.
“I’ve been here for less than ten minutes and you’re already insulting me,” Logan sighed, feigning offense.
“I’m just messing with you. Your hair is fine, Logan. It’s honestly more than fine, it’s good, it suits you,” you began to ramble, as if you couldn’t stop yourself from letting the words come out of your mouth. “You look good, too, not just your hair. I mean, you’re a good looking guy-” Before you could continue, Logan cut you off by clearing his throat.
“Are you flirting with me right now?” He grinned, exposing the sharp points of his canine. That just shouldn’t be allowed when you’re already flustered. Not when his smile looked like a smirk and it basically invited you to kiss him.
“What?” You asked, trying to seem nonchalant. You could feel your cheeks heating up from his question. “Psh, no,” you shook your head. “Me? Flirt? No, not at all.”
“Maybe you should,” he shrugged, once again tilting his head.
You didn’t even have time to process his words- nevermind reply- when Marie made her way over, greeting Logan. You took that as your opportunity to excuse yourself, running off to your room to try and sort out what Logan must’ve meant.
================
For the rest of the day, you hadn’t seen Logan again. But he had said he needed to talk to Charles, so you were sure he was busy with that, along with unpacking and being greeted by everyone.
That led you to now. You sat in the kitchen eating some Doritos when Logan walked in. He wore a tank top and some jeans, and you decided that there really should be a law against his arms being exposed.
“Hey,” you greeted, nodding your head at him as he took a few more steps into the kitchen.
He gave you a grunt in reply, which wasn’t all that unusual. He certainly wasn’t the most talkative man. You watched as he started looking around in the fridge.
“If you’re looking for a beer, there isn’t any,” you chuckled. “This is a school,” you reminded him. “There’s some Dr.Pepper in there, though.”
Logan sighed, but grabbed a bottle of the soda and closed the fridge. He turned towards you and leaned against the counter, popping the bottle open.
“What’re you doing down here so late?” He spoke before taking a sip from his soda.
“Didn’t feel like sleeping,” you hummed, then nodded to your laptop that lay on the counter next to you. “Plus, I was still working on that project Charles gave me until about ten minutes ago. I realized I was too tired to make sense of anything. What’s your excuse?” You joked.
“Couldn’t sleep,” he answered, reaching over to take a chip from your bowl and eat it.
“Can I ask you something?” You started, leaning your head on one hand.
“Shoot,” he replied with a small nod.
“What did you mean earlier?” Your voice was small, nervous. “When you said I should flirt with you?”
Instead of replying, Logan held a hand up at you. He furrowed his brows and you could see his ears perking up. You’d seen him do it before, and you knew he must hear something that he was concerned about.
Next thing you knew, you were ducking behind the counter while a gun went off overhead.
================
You were relieved that things were over. You’d found out a lot, about Logan and Alkali lake, about Stryker. It was just a weight being lifted when the dust settled. Now, you took the chance to relax a little. You’d found a nice tree outside the mansion and laid a blanket down to sit on. It was peaceful, and that was what you really needed right now.
As you sat with your back against the tree, you caught movement out of the corner of your eyes and turned your head to see what it was. It was Logan, walking towards you with his hands tucked in his pockets.
“How’d you know where I was?” You asked curiously once he was close enough to talk to without shouting.
Instead of replying with words, he just pointed to his nose.
“Right,” you nodded with a smile, “Can’t hide from the guy with the nose of a bloodhound.”
“That, and Scott told me when I asked if he’d seen you,” he smiled, sitting down next to you on your blanket and leaning back against the tree.. “What’re you doing out here alone?”
“Trying to decompress from all that shit we went through,” you answered honestly.
“How’re the cuts healing?” He asked, leaning in to get a better look.
During the fighting, you’d managed to cut open your forehead and the bridge of your nose. Luckily, that was the worst of your injuries.
“I’m fine. They’re just superficial,” you shrugged.
“I should’ve killed Stryker years ago, then none of this would’ve happened,” he sighed, blaming himself for the entire situation, along with the cuts on your face.
“Lo, really, I’m fine,” you assured. “Everyone is fine, this isn’t your fault.”
Logan nodded and leaned back again, looking out in the distance in front of the two of you. You did the same, smiling. It was a beautiful day, perfect for relaxing.
“Y’know, we never got the chance to finish our conversation,” Logan stated.
“Yeah, we kinda got interrupted,” you chuckled, trying to ignore the pit of nerves growing in your stomach. “We have time to talk now.”
“You asked me what I meant when I told you that you should flirt with me,” Logan began, turning his head to look at you. “I meant exactly what I said. I wouldn’t mind if you wanted to flirt with me. I’m into you.”
“Oh.” You couldn’t believe what you were hearing. Logan ‘emotionally stunted’ Howlett was confessing his feelings for you, even if he didn’t use so many words to say it. You turned your body so you could fully give him your attention.“I feel the same,” you admitted, your cheeks warming, “I was just too nervous to say anything.”
“I know,” Logan smiled at you, “That’s why I decided to make the first move, even if it did end up making you get a little flustered and run away.”
“In my defense, I didn’t know if you were serious or not. Didn’t know if I should think anything of it, or if I should just brush it off as you teasing me,” you reasoned.
“C’mere,” Logan hummed, gesturing for you to scoot closer to him.
You did as he wanted, and his hand reached up to hold the side of your neck, his fingertips resting in the hair on your nape. His thumb ran over the hinge of your jaw slowly. Using his gentle grip on your neck, he carefully led your face closer to his. His grip was light enough that you could pull away if you wanted to, but there was no way you wanted to.
You weren’t sure how long it took for him to pull you in, but then his lips hit yours. The taste of his cigars was still on his lips as they moved smoothly with yours. He was surprisingly gentle, as if he was trying not to spook you.
One of your hands lifted to hold the side of his face. You smiled softly, feeling the hair that covered his jaw under your fingers and palm.
It was too soon when he pulled back just enough to speak, but he had no chance to get a word out before your lips were once again covering his. Now that you’d had a taste, you couldn’t get enough. He was surprised, but chuckled. He kept his lips moving with yours as he grabbed your hips and led you to straddle his lap.
When you were comfortable on his lap, you slowly pulled your lips away from his.
“Someone’s eager,” he teased, letting out a content hum when both of your hands settled against his chest.
“I’ve waited long enough for this,” you defended with a small smile. “I’ve had eyes for you since you first came here. Then you left, and I had to pine after you the whole time you were gone,” you sighed dramatically, but the smile never left your face.
“You poor thing,” he gave you an overdramatic pout.
“But, that does remind me, I do have something for you,” you hummed.
“If you’re about to hit me again, can I get a warning?” He deadpanned.
“No, I’m serious this time,” you laughed, reaching into your pocket and pulling out Logan’s dog tags. You grabbed one of his hands and placed the chain and tags on his palm. “I believe these belong to you.” You closed his hand and placed a soft kiss on his knuckles.
“Knew they’d be safe with you,” he smiled, not his usual, teasing, grin. It was soft, warm. It felt like the smile came straight from his heart.
He opened his hand and looked at the dog tags. Then, he seemed to make a decision and grabbed them, removing the dog tag attached to the shorter chain. He clasped the shorter chain back together and held it out to you.
You took it, confused on why he was giving it back.
Logan picked up on your confusion- of course he did, the man didn’t miss anything- and spoke.
“If you’re gonna be my girl, I want you to have it,” he answered your confusion as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. “Want you to keep it safe for me for a while longer.”
“I’ll keep it with me all the time, I promise,” you grinned, unable to resist leaning in for another soft kiss. “I’ll keep it safe.”
“And I’ll keep you safe,” Logan replied, pecking your lips. He then placed a gentle kiss to each of the cuts on your face.
“You always have. You did kinda keep me from falling off the Statue of Liberty once,” you joked.
“But I didn’t this time,” he cringed as he looked at the cuts on your face.
“Logan, I’ve had worse injuries from shaving my legs,” you laughed softly. “I promise you, I am absolutely fine.”
“Okay,” he nodded, relaxing as you pressed your forehead to his. “I trust you.”
Logan’s hands on your hips lifted you off his lap and sat you on the blanket next to you. He laid down fully on the blanket, using one arm to prop his head up. You had no time to question it before he opened his other arm for you.
You smiled and laid down on the blanket next to him, tucking your face into his shoulder. In response, he wrapped his arm around you to hold you close.
“I’m glad we talked,” you said softly, tracing random patterns over his chest with your fingers.
“Me too,” he agreed, giving you a squeeze with the arm that was around you.
Warnings: Wade, he deserves his own warning, reader had a traumatic experience during a storm, so thunderstorms give her flashbacks <3 (had to give it some spice)
Other tags: Logan lowkey being happy and a big softie, making Logan watch a musical
Background: Usually when a thunderstorm hits, you seek out comfort in the form of watching movies or some other activity with your best friend, Wade. You knew that a thunderstorm presented no real danger to you, but it still creeped you out to be alone.
Description: When a thunderstorm hits, you walk across the hall to Wade’s, ready to invite him over so the two of you could have a movie marathon and wait it out until the storm died down and you’d be able to sleep. You didn’t expect Wade not to be home, and you’re shocked when his roommate, Logan, answers the door instead of him.
You sighed, hearing the first crack of thunder. You knew that a storm was coming. But you hoped you’d be asleep by the time it came through. Unfortunately, the knowledge of the coming storm seemed to be enough to keep you from going to sleep. Looks like you’d be spending another night watching movies with Wade on your couch.
Getting up from your bed, you slipped on some comfy pajama pants and wrapped a blanket around your shoulders like a cape. You also slid on some socks, not wanting your feet to be cold against the floor. You walked through your apartment, walking out and across the hall to Wade’s.
You lifted your hand and knocked on Wade’s door before rubbing a hand over your face. You hated needing company during a thunderstorm, but in the wise words of Wade, ‘You can’t help what you’re scared of, sugar bear’.
Hearing footsteps on the other side of the door, you thanked whatever deity was out there that he seemed to have been awake already.
When the door opened, you were met with a man who certainly wasn’t Wade. It was Logan, Wade’s new roommate. The two of you didn’t talk much, and you never hung out one on one. Not that you didn’t want to, you were just nervous that he would grow annoyed by your company. So, you took what you could get and settled for only spending time with him when Wade wanted to.
You’d certainly never seen him like this. He wore a white tank that was tight across his chest along with a pair of pajama pants that were plaid. It was truly infuriating how good he looked sometimes, especially right now. It’s just pajamas and a tank, and he looks like a goddamn model. You did your best to keep yourself from drooling when you spoke.
“Hi,” you spoke softly, not wanting to disturb any neighbors. The walls were fairly thin after all. “Did I wake you up? I’m sorry, I was looking for Wade.”
“I was already awake,” Logan assured, his voice matching yours in volume. “Wade isn’t here, he’s at Vanessa’s,” he explained.
“Oh,” you sighed softly. “In that case, sorry to bother you,” you gave him an apologetic smile, feeling a little bad for disturbing his night. You started to turn back around and head back to your apartment when Logan spoke again.
“What did you need?” He asked, leaning against the doorframe. “Is everything alright?”
You turned back around to face Logan. Part of you was embarrassed to tell him the truth, but if you ever wanted to be real friends with him, opening up was going to be part of that.
“Well,” you started, “I get freaked out by thunderstorms, it’s a long story,” you answered. “Usually when there’s a storm, Wade comes over and watches movies with me so I forget about the storm.”
Logan stayed silent for a moment, observing you in the moonlight that came through the window at the end of the hall. You were convinced he’d never hang out with you now, not with the way he looked at you. When he went to speak, however, you would’ve sworn he almost looked nervous.
“I could come watch movies with you,” he offered. “I’m not as talkative as Wade, but we could turn the tv up, and you wouldn’t be alone.”
“Really?” You smiled, unable to stop it. “I don’t wanna keep you up or anything,” you hummed, you really wouldn’t want to be an inconvenience.
“I don’t sleep much anyways,” he shrugged. “At the least, it gives me something to do since I can’t sleep.”
“Then you’re more than welcome to join me,” you nodded, “You can pick the first movie,” you added as you turned and walked back into your apartment.
Logan made sure he had his own apartment keys before he shut the door and followed into your place.
Once Logan was in your apartment, you shut the door and headed for the living room. You grabbed your remote and plopped down on one end of the couch as you turned it on. The only light was the tv and the moon coming in through the windows.
Logan got settled on the other end of the couch, seeming to get comfortable.
“What do you wanna watch?” You asked, looking over at Logan. You smiled softly at the sight of him getting comfy on your couch. He didn’t seem out of place at all, it seemed natural to have him there.
Now is not the time to be ogling Logan, but it was hard not to when he was so handsome, and the fact that he was here because he wanted to help you out made him all the more attractive.
“You can pick,” he shrugged. “I’m not that picky when it comes to movies.”
“Musical it is,” you snickered, wanting to see if Logan would protest.
Logan just shrugged again, seeming to really not mind what you wanted to watch.
You flipped through some movies, finding one of your favorite musical movies. The Greatest Showman. You just loved the story, and you had to admit the main actor was very good looking. Nothing better to distract from a thunderstorm than some singing eye candy. Thinking about it, he kinda looked like Logan.
You pressed play, putting the remote down and curling up a little as the opening credits began.
“What’s it about?” Logan questioned, looking over at you.
“It’s about a ringleader forming a circus,” you hummed. “He brings it up from nothing. It’s set in the 1800s, so you’d fit right in,” you joked.
“Don’t tell me you’re gonna be worse than Wade tonight,” he shook his head, a barely there smile forming at the corner of his mouth.
“Guess we’ll find out,” you snickered, giving him a playful shrug.
================
You were about halfway through the movie, and the two of you were both invested. You were laying down now, your head near the armrest and your legs curled up on the couch next to Logan. He still sat in the seat he’d started in, but he seemed to relax into the couch a little more, one arm over the back of it.
The storm hadn’t been bothering you too much so far, but it seemed as if that was ending now.
A loud crack of thunder boomed, and it felt like it shook the windows of your apartment. You sat up, looking out the window.
“Hey,” Logan spoke, trying to get your attention away from the rain pouring against your window.
You turned to look at the man, shifting your attention to him instead of the rain.
“You alright?” He asked, surprised by your reaction to the thunder.
“Yeah, it just caught me off guard,” you answered. Before he could reply, a lightning strike lit up your living room, followed by another, louder, roll of thunder. You jumped again before sighing. You could feel your chest getting tighter.
Logan scooted a little closer after you jumped this time, placing a hand on your shoulder.
“It’s okay,” he spoke. He was never the best at comforting, much less so when he used his words instead of actions.
You nodded, taking a breath. You leaned into the couch, trying to relax again. It was short lived, however, when another lightning flash filled the room, the thunder following.
Before you could even think about reacting, Logan was pulling you closer, his arms holding your shoulders protectively.
“It’s only a noise,” he hummed, his voice quiet. “Not gonna hurt you,” he added.
You laid your head against his shoulder as he held you. Closing your eyes, you tried to focus on the sound of him breathing evenly rather than the rain pounding outside. Slowly, you let your breath sync to his, the slow breaths helping you to relax.
“There you go,” he said, still keeping his voice low.
His voice almost reminded you of the thunder rolling outside. You could feel the rumble of his words in his chest when he spoke. But this thunder wasn’t frightening. It was soft and comforting, like being wrapped in a blanket straight from the dryer.
Logan pulled away after a moment, and you tried not to seem too disappointed. He picked up on it anyway, and was quick to reassure you.
“I’m not going anywhere,” he promised, a small smile on his face. “Just thought there were more comfortable ways than me hunching over to hold you and you bending your neck to lay your head down,” he explained. You were sure that was the most words he’d ever said to you consecutively.
He laid back on the couch, patting his chest and opening up his arms, inviting you to lay against him. You hesitated for a moment, and he seemed to gather what was worrying you.
“I’m a mutant with a metal coated skeleton,” he let out an amused breath, “I’ll be fine if you lay on me.”
You couldn’t help but chuckle softly at the way he put it. You pulled the blanket over you both as you laid across him, your face tucking against his neck.
“Comfy?” Logan mumbled, wrapping an arm around your middle.
“Mhm,” you hummed out. After a moment, you spoke again. “Can you keep talking?” You asked, hoping he wouldn’t find it too odd.
“Why?” He asked in return, but his voice was more curious than any sort of upset.
“Your voice distracts me from the thunder,” you replied, closing your eyes.
“Oh,” he hummed, his chest rumbling as he did. “What do you want me to talk about?”
“Whatever you want,” you answered. He could be reading the dictionary, and you’d listen to every word. “I’m sure you have plenty of stories to tell.”
Logan thought for a moment before starting to speak, telling you a story about a time that he’d worked as a lumberjack in the late 70s. He went on, telling you that he’d been living in a cabin in the Canadian Rockies.
You listened intently as he spoke, committing every word to memory. It sounded like a rather nice place to live. The life he described was simple and filled with much less trouble than the life of a hero.
As he spoke, you felt yourself growing sleepier and sleepier. He’d started rubbing your back about halfway through the story, and it was definitely helping you keep your mind off the storm.
“‘M getting tired,” you mumbled out, your cheek squished into Logan’s chest.
“Go to sleep,” he replied, “I’ll be here when you wake up,” he added, “Hopefully the storm will be over by then.”
“Can you keep talking’ til I’m asleep?” You asked softly.
Without agreeing or denying, he just picked up his story where he left off, making you smile.
It wasn’t long before you were passed out on top of Logan, breathing evenly as you slept. Logan looked down at you, smiling softly at the sight. Maybe tonight, he’d finally get a good rest too. With that thought on his mind, he closed his eyes and let himself doze off, his arms wrapped around you protectively.
================
Logan woke up later than he typically did the next morning, but it wasn’t like he had anywhere to be anyway. He let out a sleepy hum as he blinked open his eyes to look down at you in his arms. A small smile made its way to his face as he saw you were still fast asleep on his chest.
As if the universe wanted to say ‘fuck you’ to Logan, Wade walked over and into Logan’s view.
Logan blinked a few times, almost like he was trying to will Wade out of the room.
“Well good morning, sleeping beauty,” Wade spoke, too chipper for Logan, as usual. He was munching on a muffin that he’d clearly stolen from your kitchen.
“The fuck are you doing here?” Logan huffed, but kept his voice down, wanting to let you rest after being up the previous night.
“Stealing food, clearly,” Wade lifted up the muffin to emphasize his point. “My turn. What are you doing here, peanut?” He hummed, sitting down on the small coffee table that was in front of the couch. He placed one elbow on one of his knees and propped his now tilted head on his hand. “You never hang out with each other, and now I come over and catch her napping on your chest like you’re a big pillow. Totally jealous, by the way, I’d pay to lay on those thick tits of yours.”
Logan rolled his eyes. Somehow Wade never seemed to run out of things to say that would annoy him.
“I’m here because you weren’t,” Logan replied. “It was storming last night and she came over looking for you. When I answered the door and asked what she wanted, she told me and I offered to watch movies with her.”
“That’s cute and all,” Wade nodded, “But that doesn’t explain why she’s cuddling up to you like she’s done it a hundred times before.”
“Do you ever stop asking questions?” Logan complained.
“Nope, now spill or I’ll wake her up and make her tell me instead,” Wade whined petulantly.
“Okay, fine,” Logan sighed. “There were a couple big booms of thunder and she got scared, so I was holding her. She seemed to calm down so we just moved to get more comfortable instead of sitting up. We fell asleep like that, then I woke up and my absolute worst nightmare was here,” he jabbed at Wade, deadpanning.
“Oh you so have it bad for her,” Wade teased with a grin.
“I do not have it bad,” Logan argued.
“You don’t?” Wade raised one brow. “Tell me then, would you cuddle me because I was scared?” He questioned.
Logan stayed silent, unsure how he was supposed to answer that without flat out lying, which he knew would end in Wade insisting he gets cuddles at some point.
“Uh-huh, that’s what I thought,” Wade snickered softly. “You should just ask her out,” he hummed before taking a bite of his muffin.
“Not happening,” Logan shook his head. “There are too many reasons why I shouldn’t do that.”
“Oh come on,” Wade complained with his mouth full before swallowing and speaking again. “Why not?”
“It would just put her in danger,” he reasoned. “Nothing ends well for anyone I care about,” he added, sighing softly. “That’s the last thing I’d want to happen to her.”
“You care about me, and I’m fine,” Wade grinned.
“You also can’t fucking die,” Logan deadpanned. “I’m serious, I don’t want to be the reason she’s in danger.”
“You say that like we wouldn’t both murder someone who tried anything,” Wade hummed. “Nobody hurts my best friend, and I’m positive that nobody would end up alive after trying something on Wolverine’s girlfriend.”
Logan stayed quiet, looking down at you on his chest.
“Fine, I’ll think about it,” he decided. “But don’t you dare say anything to her about how I may or may not feel.”
“May or may not my ass,” Wade rolled his eyes, standing up. “I’m going back to my place, if you two fuck, try not to let the whole complex hear you,” he joked as he headed towards the door.
“Fuck off, Wade,” Logan grumbled out, but he seemed to relax again when he heard the door close behind Wade.
As much as he hated it, he had to admit that Wade may be right.
================
Ever since the night of the storm, you and Logan had gotten closer. You hadn’t been too close, like hugging or cuddling again, but you hung out more. He’d come over and have dinner and then watch whatever movie you decided to put on. Occasionally, you dragged him out to go see a movie you wanted to watch in theaters or get ice cream when you felt a craving for it.
You’d certainly grown to fall for the man. Before, you knew he was handsome and just all around attractive, but now that you knew him even better, you were well and truly fucked. Even if you did have feelings, you’d never mention it, not wanting to end up back at square one and without him as a friend.
The most interesting change was the pet names he seemed to add to the end of every other sentence. It came out as if it was second nature when he spoke to you. Honey, babe, sugar, sweetheart. Each time he used one, your stomach fluttered.
================
It was about four months after the initial storm and Logan was sleeping, unaware of the raging storm outside. It was even more intense than the last.
He woke up when he heard a loud crash. He sat up straight, worried that some sort of danger was near. He sighed when he realized it was just thunder, laying back down.
“Stupid fuckin’ storm,” he grumbled to himself, closing his eyes to go back to sleep. It seemed to hit him only when he said the word out loud. It was storming outside and you were probably in your apartment, terrified.
He got up quickly, going to check first if Wade was still in the apartment. He found Wade fast asleep, curled up with a stuffed unicorn. He felt a little bad about being happy that he’d be the one to go help you.
Rushing out of the apartment, he made his way across the hall and knocked on your door. When he got no reply, he grew more worried. He hurried to go back to Wade’s and grab the spare key to yours he now knew that Wade kept on the table near the door. Once he grabbed the key, he was back to your door, unlocking it and pushing it open.
He called out your name softly, not wanting to wake you if you were already asleep. He assumed that you must be until he heard a small sob coming from down the hall. He’d never been so thankful for his advanced hearing.
Walking quickly, he made it to your bedroom, the door already open. There was a lump on your bed under your blankets and he assumed it was you. He walked in, sitting down on the edge of your bed.
“Hey, it’s me,” Logan’s voice was soft, “I’m here.”
Slowly, you poked your head out from the blanket and looked at Logan. It was like seeing him flipped a switch. You flung the blanket off of yourself and nearly tackled Logan with a hug. If it weren’t for how strong he was, you would’ve both probably tumbled off the bed.
“Woah, woah,” Logan kept his voice quiet as he wrapped his arms around you and held you close. “You’re alright, it’s alright.” He lifted one hand to run through your hair.
There it was again. His voice like a sweet version of the thunder that rolled just outside your window.
You cried softly against his shoulder for a few minutes, slowly calming down now that Logan had arrived. Just like last time, you focused on his even breathing and mirrored it. Eventually, the tears stopped and you just sniffled quietly.
“You could’ve come over to get me if you were this scared, honey,” Logan said as he rubbed your back in slow circles.
“I wanted to,” you said softly. “But the thunder was so loud and the rain was pelting the window. I just got so overwhelmed, it felt like I couldn’t move.”
“Alright,” Logan nodded in understanding. He knew what it felt like to freeze up. “I’m here now,” he added, laying his head against yours. “I won’t go anywhere until you feel better.”
“Will you stay again?” You asked softly, shyly.
“Of course,” he nodded, letting go of you so you could get comfortable.
You slipped under the blanket of your bed, then held up the blanket for Logan to join you.
He did as you wished, getting under the blanket and laying down next to you. Gently, he wrapped an arm around your waist and pulled you to his side.
Your arm rested on his shoulder while one leg tangled with his. You were convinced that this was the safest you’d ever feel.
“I never asked,” Logan started. “Is there a reason thunderstorms scare you? I asked Wade, and he told me I should ask you instead.”
You stayed quiet, and for a moment, he was worried that he’d overstepped with his question. He was about to try and backpedal, but you spoke.
“The worst day of my life,” you started, “It was during a huge storm. Now when it storms, and the thunder cracks, it’s like I’m back there again. I have to relive the hardest day of my entire life.”
If anyone knew what that was like, it was Logan. Half the time when he slept, he was reliving the day he lost everything. Now it made sense in a way he could understand.
“I didn’t realize,” Logan sighed. “‘M sorry,” he added, feeling a little bad for making you talk about it.
“Don’t be,” you shook your head. “I wanted to tell you anyway, I just didn’t know how,” you admitted. “I’m glad you asked me.”
Logan didn’t say anything else, just wrapping his arm around you a little tighter.
“You came without me asking,” you said quietly, tilting your head to look up at Logan.
“I woke up and it was storming,” Logan spoke, looking down at you. “Wade was still home, so I figured you were here alone and wanted to come check on you. I know you don’t like being alone, so I came over. I’m glad I did.”
“I’m glad you did too,” you agreed with a small smile. You were sure your eyes were still puffy from crying, most likely a little red, too. Part of you was embarrassed that Logan was seeing you like this, even when it was mostly dark, but the other part of you knew that Logan probably didn’t even think twice about it.
Logan gave you a small smile in return. You were so happy that he’d started showing himself to you a little more, you loved seeing his smile and hearing his laugh.
“Thank you,” you added, realizing you hadn’t said it until just now. “For coming over because you knew I’d be scared.”
“Don’t have to thank me,” he shook his head. “It would’ve been shitty if I’d have just gone back to bed when I knew you needed someone.”
He sounded so sincere that it felt like your heart was being squeezed. Without another thought, you leaned up to place a small kiss on his cheek, a small show of your gratitude. When you pulled away, you laid your head back down against him.
“What was that for?” Logan chuckled, one side of his mouth turning up.
“For being here,” you shrugged, “Since you won’t take my thank you, I thought I’d give you that in its place.”
Logan rolled over onto his side so he was facing you. He then pulled you up so the two of you would be eye to eye. He looked at you as if he was trying to commit every detail of your face to memory. It made your cheeks grow warm.
“Can I talk to you about something?” He asked, his voice serious, but not so serious that you grew worried about what he had to say.
“Always,” you nodded.
“The first time I came over, when Wade wasn’t home, I didn’t know what I’d be getting into,” he admitted with a small smile. “The next morning, when I woke up, you were still asleep and Wade came waltzing into the living room and he and I talked.”
“Oh god,” you interrupted. “Tell me he didn’t say anything embarrassing,” you joked.
“No, nothing embarrassing,” he assured, resting a hand on your hip. “He actually told me to do something, and at first, I told him I never would, because I was scared of hurting someone,” he sighed. “But he convinced me to think about it, and I’ve been dwelling on it every day since.”
Logan went quiet, and you thought that he almost seemed…. Nervous.
“What did he tell you to do?” You spoke softly, wanting to give him a nudge and let him know he could open up to you. “Who did you not want to hurt, Lo?”
“You,” he finally got out. “I didn’t want to hurt you. He told me to just ask you out already, and I said no because the people I care about usually end up getting hurt. But I kept fucking thinking about it, and I know that I’d do everything I can to keep you from getting hurt.”
You weren’t sure what to say. The very last thing you had expected him to say was that he wanted to ask you out.
“I’m obviously not good with words,” he huffed out a breath. “I just need to say it. Do you wanna go out with me, sweetheart?”
You swore you could feel the palpitations as the words finally left his lips.
“Yes,” you grinned, lifting a hand to hold a side of his face. “I’d love to go out with you, Logan,” you leaned up to press a gentle kiss on the end of his nose, which he scrunched up in response.
“I promise I’m not going to let you get hurt,” he assured as he leaned in, resting his forehead on yours. “I’ll keep you safe. From thunderstorms, or from anything else.”
“I know you will,” you replied, “I feel safe, right here in your arms,” you smiled, cuddling into him a little more as if you were trying to prove your point.
“I’ll hold you whenever you want, honey,” he hummed, pressing a kiss to the bridge of your nose. “Anything to make you feel safe.”
“Doesn’t just make me feel safe,” you grinned. “Makes me feel happy, too.”
“Oh yeah?” He asked, his voice just on this side of teasing. “Good thing I’d do anything to make you happy too.”
“Anything to make me happy?” You questioned, sliding your hand down from his face to his chest, “I think a kiss would really make me happy.”
“I did say anything,” he chuckled, leaning in until your lips brushed. “Absolutely anything for my girl,” he added before pressing his lips to yours in a sweet kiss that you both sighed into.
When he pulled away, it was just enough to breathe, close enough that your lips still touched when you spoke.
“Your girl?” You spoke, barely above a whisper. “I think I could get used to that. That would make you my guy, huh?”
“Yeah, I’ll be your guy, babe,” he chuckled quietly. “Any day of the week.”
“Just in the days?” You joked, acting as if you were offended.
“Christ, you and Wade are going to kill me,” he huffed playfully. “I’ll be your guy any time you’ll have me.”
“That’s more like it,” you laughed quietly, pecking his lips.
The two of you sat in silence for a few minutes, when you realized something.
“It’s not storming anymore,” you smiled. “Guess you distracted me from the storm.”
“Told you I’d keep you safe,” he grinned.
“I think I know why it works so well when you talk,” you said shyly.
“And why’s that?” He asked.
“Your voice, it’s low and I can feel it in your chest when you talk,” you began. “Reminds me of the thunder, but it’s gentle and even instead of overwhelming. So when you talk, it’s like a whole new kind of storm that I can focus on.”
“I’d be glad to distract you anytime,” he teased, pecking your lips.
“You know, you should come stay the night sometime when I’m not having a panic attack,” you joked.
“I think I’d like that,” he agreed. “Wade’s never gonna let me leave without interrogating me though.”
“I’ll come over when you’re about to leave, I can try and get him off topic,” you chuckled. “All I’ve really gotta do is mention Vanessa.”
“What if I don’t mind people knowing where I’ll be?” He asked.
“I’d say that it’s very sweet and that I don’t mind either,” you smiled, kissing the corner of his mouth.
“Kiss me like you mean it, none of the corner of the mouth shit,” he complained, but based on the smile on his face, he was only teasing you.
Opting not to reply, you leaned in, pressing your lips on his. You hadn’t expected his lips to be as soft as they were, but you supposed it made sense when his skin healed itself.
You pulled away slowly, letting out a content breath and scooting down so you could press your face against his neck.
“You smell good,” you commented casually as you closed your eyes.
“Glad you like it,” he chuckled, tucking one arm under his head while the other kept you against his chest.
The two of you continued to steal soft kisses and trade laughs until eventually you were being pulled under into a nice sleep.
================
Logan took a deep breath as he woke up. In the night, you’d managed to turn over, so he was now the big spoon. He grinned, pulling you closer back against him.
Without warning, Wade’s head popped up over your side of the bed, a smile on his face.
“Why the fuck are you always here when I wake up?” Logan complained, letting a sigh out of his nose.
“Because you’re always here when I come to check in after a storm,” Wade answered, standing up and revealing that he was wearing a tie dye onesie.
“Well she’s fine, you don’t have to check up on her anymore,” Logan assured. “Now get out so I can go back to sleep,” he huffed.
Wade completely ignored Logan. Typical.
“So did you two finally do it last night?” He asked, already heading to the door, praying Logan wouldn’t get up to beat the shit out of him.
Logan didn’t get up. Instead he leaned over and grabbed the alarm clock on your bedside table and threw it towards Wade.
Wade dodged it, grinning like an idiot as he ran out and through your apartment so he could exit the front door.
“What the fuck was that?” You groaned out sleepily.
“Nothin’,” Logan answered, wrapping his arm back around you. “Just your alarm clock breaking against the wall.”
“Do I want to ask why you threw it or not?” You questioned, turning around and pressing your face to his chest.
“Wade,” he answered simply.
“Got it,” you nodded, “No need to explain.”
Logan chuckled and leaned down, pressing his lips to your forehead.
“Wanna go back to sleep?” He hummed out.
“Now that I’m awake, I was thinking maybe we could go get something for breakfast,” you shrugged, looking up at Logan with a lazy grin.
“I could go for breakfast,” he nodded. “Let me hold you for a little longer first,” he added, squeezing you even closer to him.
“I could go for that,” you copied his words, laying your head back down.
Logan grinned, just looking at you laying your head on his chest. Yeah, he could get used to being a new kind of thunder for you.
