you can tell this is an accurate x-men adaptation because every single mutant first reaction is like “i CANT understand how could professor let Evil Terrorist magneto be here??? what kind of brilliant plan he had in his mind?” meanwhile the reason is that he is gay and correct. charles knows. they’re both gay. they’re making it your problem too

That wasn’t even his plan!! His plan was to make the senator a mutant, so he’d have to advocate for mutants or be destroyed by his own policy, and tbh. It’s the best villain plan I’ve ever seen. The goo was the plan unexpectedly failing. 9/10 only bc he was going to kill Rogue. Next time use someone willing to sacrifice herself for the cause, pls. No further notes

“It doesn’t make sense to keep Magneto a Holocaust survivor because he’d have to be like 100 years old” is a wild take to have about a fictional guy whose best friend ages at half-speed, whose secondary enemy is literally immortal, and who in the comics has a 12-pack at the age of 89. The time that has elapsed since the end of the Second World War is not actually an insurmountable obstacle
There’s literally multiple plot points where he gets de-aged (either intentionally or unintentionally).
if they can freeze steve rogers for 70 years they can use one of the 20 or 30 random ideas that immediately present themselves to keep magneto connected to the holocaust
I’m so tried of people saying that they don’t need to keep his backstory in or that they need to erase it to keep him young when comics and TV shows have used so many different ways of both keeping his backstory and keeping him at a physical age where he’s able to be active.

People often sum up the Xavier v Magneto conflict as “direct action vs respectability politics,” but I would argue that their differences come not from different approach (Xavier also literally has a semi-secret paramilitary group operating out of his basement) but from the fact that they’re trying to solve different problems.
Charles is worried about systematic inequality: Discriminatory laws. Lack of access to education. Kids being kicked out by their parents. Keeping his students out of jail. He wants mutants to be accepted in and able to function in society.
Erik is worried about systematic state-sponsored genocide. The more mutants are accepted in and function in society, the more information is out there about them to make them easier to target once this state-sponsored genocide starts. Nothing he does is really comprehensible unless you look at it from that viewpoint, because if he’s fighting for mutant civil rights, he could not be more obviously hurting his own cause-- killing every human on earth, for example, is very stupid if you want to get legal protections from those humans or have any form of remaining society, but logically consistent (if still inexcusable) when you realize he was minutes away from seeing his fears of total mutant annihilation realized, and is 1000% convinced that that is going to happen again and he only got lucky this time.
You can’t replace his experience with systematic genocide with systematic inequality-- or even state-sponsored violence (police brutality, etc) and have the same character. At that point you might as well just put in a proxy, like The Gifted did with Lorna Dane.

The argument for changing Magneto’s ethnic and cultural background in order to make his experiences/perspective more “modern” is just wrong. That idea treats anti-semitism like a solved problem when it absolutely is not. All anti-semitism did not end when WWII did. Magneto bears relevance to this day, and there are plenty of ways comics have explained away his age. The MCU can certainly do the same. You cannot have Magneto without him being Jewish. You cannot have Magneto without him being a survivor. That is something I will not negotiate.

Wiccan and Hulkling are minding their business when they get a call from their handphone app. As they arrive at the diner, they saw that only America Chavez had turned up because the other Young Avengers are either too busy or had refused to answer the call as it came from Loki, the trickster god and former teammate. Despite their reluctance, the three Young Avengers - Hulkling, Wiccan and America Chavez had to race against time to save Loki from the Scorned Exes.
Looks like this Young Avengers story might be a tribute to Gillen’s Young Avengers….
