I’ve slept on the new episode of X-Men ‘97, and I have a lot of feelings about some things that happened. I’ll be putting the spoilers under the cut

And no, I’m not arguing anything about this being out of character, it’s not. It’s just something that’s rubbed me the wrong way for a while now

As someone who knows a bit more about the comics and does read them from time to time, it’s so hard seeing Kurt always end up sacrificing himself and dying for everyone else. I know he’s selfless and compassionate and is the type that would risk everything for others over himself. I know that. But it’s always him.

Kurt as a character dies so much for others and hardly ever gets to have his own happy ending. It especially bothers me her in ‘97 for three reasons:

1. It cut over any mourning the others might have done, or references to that out of that last scene. I would have liked to have seen someone put a flower on a grave or anything.

2. Mystique was revealed to be coming back and the last time she’d been seen was when she had told Kurt that she never wanted him and he has a big moment of showing compassion to her. I know this can lead to Rogue telling Mystique what happened and there being something with them, but it would have been nice to see Kurt talk with her again.

3. Kurt has been in hardly any of the marketing or gotten any sort of merch since the show started. You decide he’s going to have a huge sacrifice and then not include him in the merchandise or anything? Knowing that he’s a huge fan favorite? I blame fucking Disney for that

Maybe some of it is my own tendencies to put others happiness above my own health and give up things I care about/need for others all the time, but having Kurt die here just really rubbed me the wrong way so bad. Especially with how rushed these last two episodes felt compared to the whole

no dragon age romance will ever compare to zevran arainai. he's bisexual. he was raised in a murder assassin torture cult after being raised in a brothel. he has a bunch of tattoos and even knows how to give them. he tries to murder you when you first meet him and then poses sexily afterwards. he says he's skilled at lockpicking and then never manages to pick a single lock in the entire game. he murdered his last lover after falsely believing that she betrayed the crows. he regularly slept with his marks before killing them to give them one last good night alive. when you ask him to have sex with you he says one liners like "arghhh pirate zevran reporting for duty!" he gets upset and broody when he realizes that he's in love with you after you ask him for more in your relationship. he proposes to you with an earring from a dead guy before he even tells you that he loves you. he's the only companion to almost completely stay with you after origins (besides the dlcs and parts of da2, he presumably stays with you the rest of your lives). if you die, he never gets into a relationship or has sex with anyone ever again. he constantly talks about you when he's away from you (da2). he calls the sword of the dead king of ferelden "sexy" and says that he "must have it". he's a devout andrastian. he loves being an assassin and doesn't feel bad about murdering people. you can have a threesome with him and a woman he used to sleep with and helped save from her abusive husband. he's slept with countless people and you're the first person that he's ever actually loved. he spends the rest of his life when he's not with you devoted to terrorizing the organization that abused him as a child (and adult) and killing of its leaders. when you tell him that you love him, he says that "he knows." he's blonde. and he's perfect in every way possible.

Okay, but imagine that you're Morph and you find out that the guy you sacrificed your life for, the guy who you quite literally risked your life for AGAIN meer minutes ago, the guy who went across the world to save you, who you have been best friends with for years and who you would do anything for... values a girl who doesn't love him back, who never WILL love him back, and who he KNOWS will never love him back, more than you
