The Dark Academician turned 5 today!
"Maybe we’ll meet again, when we are slightly older and our minds less hectic, and I’ll be right for you and you’ll be right for me. But right now, I am chaos to your thoughts and you are poison to my heart."

unfortunately i don’t have a declaration of love to offer you...
however, darling, i can declare an infatuation.
the courage to initiate conversation with anyone new continuously eludes me, so instead i have contented myself with scrolling endlessly through your blogs. with each post, my infatuation grows. your tastes, what you believe and feel, your words, and the beauty you take joy in has captured my attention. i cannot help but feel that you are the sort of person i could easily grow to love.
unless the universe wishes something different, i will stay a secret admirer steadily falling slightly more infatuated with you as the days pass.
this.
this almost made me cry, it is so sweet.
i could never think that my blog would mean that much to someone, or could even have that impact. so thank you.
even if you’re worried about speaking to me - please stay around, and use my askbox ! n hopefully you’ll message me one day hun, who knows what the future holds
<3 yet again, thank you, my love.
Underrated ‘The secret history’ quotes:
“On leaving home I was able to fabricate a new and far more satisfying history.”
“I felt my existence was tainted, in some subtle but essential way.”
“I don’t think I can explain the despair my surroundings inspired in me.”
“The great romantics are often failed classicists.”
“But isn’t it always pain that often makes us most aware of self?”
“All she lacks is a mother’s firm hand, but still, for my money, she’s what you call a bramble rose.”
“It’s beautiful here, but the morning light can make the most vulgar things tolerable.”
“And always, always that same toast. Live forever.”
“She was a living reverie for me: the mere sight of her sparked an almost infinite range of fantasy, from Greek to Gothic, from vulgar to divine.”
“My life, which before had been only solitary and miserable. Became unbearable.”
“Time is something which defies spring and winter, birth and decay, the good and the bad, and absolutely indestructible. Duality ceases to exist; “
“We’d all been really, truly out of our minds. And it may be a superhuman effort to loose oneself so completely, but that’s nothing compared to the effort of getting oneself back again.”
“She was still a girl, a slight lovely girl who ate chocolates, a girl who’s hair smelt like hyacinth and who’s scarves fluttered jauntily in the breeze.”
“We’d done our errands, not to mention an awful lot of cocaine in the parking lot of Burger King.”
“I suppose it would be interesting to say that at this point I felt torn in some way, grappled with the moral implications of each courses available to me. But I don’t recall experiencing anything of a sort.”
“I buried my face in the soft, slightly acrid - smelling flesh of her neck, and rocked back and forth - babbling, mumbling, feeling myself fall down and down, into a half-forgotten life.”
“It is under the rustic clothing of a labourer, and not under the gilded frame of a courtesan that one finds physical strength and energy. Finery is no less a stranger to virtue, which is the power and vigour of the soul.”
Jean-Jacques Rousseau, "Discourse on the Arts and Sciences"
“Nowadays, when more subtle studies and more refined taste have reduced the art of pleasing into principles, a vile and misleading uniformity governs our customs, and all minds seem to have been cast in the same mould: incessantly politeness makes demands, propriety issues orders, and incessantly people follow customary usage, never their own inclinations. One does not dare to appear as what one is... One will never know well the person one is dealing with.”
Jean-Jacques Rousseau, "Discourse on the Arts and Sciences"
“How sweet it would be to live among us, if the exterior appearance was always an image of the heart's tendencies; if decency was a virtue; if our maxims served us as rules; if true philosophy was inseparable from the title of philosopher!”
Jean-Jacques Rousseau, "Discourse on the Arts and Sciences"

living in the old cottage, sitting on the windowsill, drinking black coffee, wearing vintage robe, listening to the classical music and writing my own book here
dark academia is not cigarette trousers and button ups. dark academia is not exclusivley reading homer and virgil. dark academia is a passion for knowledge and learning. so please, dont feel like you arent DA just because you wear jeans embroidered with flowers or pink blouses. DA should be a state of mind before it is an aesthetic. yes, the aesthetics of it are nice but unnecessary. so please dont feel excluded or exclude others just because they dont fit the picture of dark academia that you have in your mind.
lesbians really are the most romantic little shits ever i’m still crying
