are u referring to this post? bc the point of that post wasn’t really about whether CL were “toxic” or not but rather that there was a huge double standard in the fandom at the time of calling CL toxic while shipping couples like linctavia for instance, who aren’t any better.
i think that due to the nature of the show (post-apocalyptic) every single dynamic on this show is going to be unhealthy by modern society standards (with the exception of maybe harper and monty). however, in 2015, fandom was fixated on vilifying the f/f couple and holding them to a moral standard that they did not set for any of the m/f couples that they happily shipped. people were able to overlook octavia literally punching lincoln because she was mad at him but would write 5k think pieces about lexa betraying clarke. so the post was about the double standard more than anything (then ofc in 2016 there was a swap and fandom became fixated on vilifying the brown lead and holding him/his relationships to a moral standard that they did not set for the other characters/dynamics). basically t100 fandom has a history of being trash but this isn’t news
