Galatta and the battle of the Boar
Below the cut is a piece written by our member Snowflake about a part of our year one lore piece for Galatta.
Galatta was tasked to slay the boar
Whose tusks would rend the earth infertile
It appeared every spring
To rip up the earth
Poison and slash at Galta and worse
It's poisons so dark she could not heal
From the treacherous blows the boar would deal
Galatta left to hunt the boar
And bring its tusks back to mother earth
As she wandered she came across a patch of forest
Still and unmoving and covered in death
Devastation being the only thing left
The sight that was seen left Galta with no words
So much destruction had left her unnerved
And then finally she saw the boar
For four days Galatta tried to slay the beast
But bringing it's death proved to be a tremendous feat
For the arrows she shot at it didn't seem to work
They'd bounce off its hide and fall to the earth
Leaving no scratches
Not even a mark
Galatta began feeling despair in her heart
And injured she fled
From that grove full of dead
And she came to a clearing
Where she decided to rest
And as she rested a messenger came
A beautiful crow
It's feathers snow white
A magical creature a marvelous sight
The crow spoke and it said
“lady of ivy you've treated us well”
“and so I've come to offer you my help”
“for you treat us not as signs of death”
“but like decent creatures oh yes”
“I'll tell you the boar is a strong spiteful soul”
“due to the rays of light he wove”
“into his flesh, his skin and his bones”
“creating a near impenetrable hull”
“but this creature of death has one weakness oh yes”
“for its weak to things of the light that will bring its death”
Before she could thank it
The crow it was gone
And in its place three white feather that shone
They looked like the light
That would help slay the boar
then Galatta gathered her arrows and bow
Repaired them with the feathers that glowed
Satisfied she left to face the boar once more
In her heart she knew this time she would win for sure
She encountered the boar
And she firmly stood her ground
As the boar charged it's bellowing could be heard all around
Unwavered Galatta fired a shot from afar
And the arrow of sun it pierced the boar's eye
Blinded the boar let out a demonic cry
Galatta loosed another arrow from her bow the arrow of the stars
Again she did not fail to hit her mark
The arrow it pinned the boar to the earth
Then lastly she fired the arrow of the moon
Swiftly it flew straight and true
Into the boar's heart with a tremendous thud
Fiercely the boar let out one final roar
And then it ceased to be any more
The battle was over Galatta had won
And so she thanked the moon, stars , and sun
As the boar faded away
A prayer she made
For its soul to find peace and let it's anger fade away
Galatta gathered the boars tusks and turned towards home
With knowledge the beast would no longer roam
