“I don’t mean to be rude Mrs. Winder, but I would like them back, now please”.
Her eyes were locked onto his. She wanted to scream but something forced her silence and her body wouldn’t listen to her. “…They’re-”, she began, despite being too terrified to answer him ,”On the table?”, she felt herself speak and her hand slowly pointed towards the dining room. Murdoc clapped his hands together ,”Excellent”, he said through nearly gritted teeth ,”I’m sure you have plenty of questions but I’m afraid I do not have the time for them”. With that he walked down the hall without another word. Dr. Winder stood there for what seemed like hours trying to fathom how the man appeared in front of her, seeming to materialize the moment the light hit his body. Thousands of thoughts raced through her head as she tried to comprehend what had happened until she remembered that she still could not move. Murdoc had already begun sorting through the papers scattered across the tables’ surface. Once He had them stacked and placed into their folder Winders knees gave out. “W-what the hell did you do to me?”, She gasped out and leaned on the wall to stand back up. “Just made sure you didn’t scream”, he said calmly without giving her a glance ,”I would advise avoiding eye contact next time”. He adjusted his tie and started towards the front door. Winder scrambled up to her feet to catch up to him,” Wait, wait!”, she called out without a response. “Please! I just want answers!”, she grabbed the back of his vest and he stopped in front of the door. He turned and glowered at her. His emerald green eyes cast down a horribly disappointed expression…or was it perhaps pity? “I admire your determination”, he cocked a brow ,”but I’m doing this for your own safety Mrs. Winder”.
She stared at him, ignoring his previous advice and had a tight grip on his vest. His expression did not faulter,” Leave it be. It is not worth it. You’ll either be swallowed up in the rabbit hole, or die because you couldn’t handle the information”. “One question then…”, she let go of him and returned his glare ,”Are there more like you out there?”.
He slightly tilted his head back to study her for a moment as if judging her tenacity. His glare grew less intense yet his ever-deadened expression made it impossible to know what he was thinking.
“Not for long…”.
