Thanks to the lovely @stylish-alastor helping me with this, I finally have a back story for my Vergil
Vergil is from the “original” back story of DMC 1 where at 8 years old, Vergil had been kidnapped whereas Eva was the one that had survived instead of Dante. Eva not satisfied with such a result used what was left of her own soul to revive Dante, her soul forever haunting the amulet that he is seen wearing to this day.
Vergi himself had spent years under Mundus’ thumb and was tormented for an indefinite amount of time until the starting of DMC 1 where you see him as Nelo Angelo against his will. However, upon his defeat, he had been sent back to Hell and was tormented for another innumerable amount of time for his failure to finish off the remaining family of Sparda himself. Through many events later, he had managed to actually break free of Mundus’ prison and through blood, sweat, and tears managed to steal Yamato from The Dark Prince’s and claw his way out of the confinement of Hell itself. Given how much time has passed, he is now thrust into a world that he has no knowledge of and is in a constant state of trying to figure out the world around him. Therefore,--for him--the events of DMC 3 actually never happened.
Now here he stands in a world that’s much changed from his childhood youth, attempting to find the balance between his humanity and inner devil itself. Time in Hell itself goes a lot faster than in the human world, so for Vergil, he is probably a few thousand years old at this point in time due to his near eternal torment.
