I'm a huge fan of Webkinz and Neopets, and wanna get into Animal Jam!

Does anybody have any advice, tips, or general information for a beginner?

Also- just how socially reliant this game actually? Am i able to play as a shy reluctant-to-talk-to-strangers person mostly on my own and have fun?

hi recently back in the building (aj classic because I'm assuming you're talking about classic) being here!

AJ Classic is still pretty fun without talking to people directly! While it's still good for trading purposes to have some discussions you really don't need to trade to have fun. The adventures are still a solid bit of fun and the items are tradable (it's Graham's Workshop season which is really fun) and relatively being a nonmember isn't an issue if you play at least a bit of the modern/mobile version because you can buy memberships with like a few hours of work on there. It's not updated but if you like a nicer slower game that still mostly holds up (except for HDs being popularized items because of discontinuation, yikes) it's a good option even to someone who won't really socialize, which is half of the appeal nowadays.

As for Animal Jam (new ver.) socialization is very little of what the community revolves around nowadays other than to trade, so it's a very good option for the antisocial. You may want to at least try to have a small group for some features (like Phantom Dungeons, although it's so hard alone there are hidden achievements and badges for completing each class solo) but even just some shops and the Explorer feature are good enough to be able to get a good bit of sapphires if you want to get a membership without going through flowers. There are still a lot of features that don't require socialization or membership on modern Animal Jam though.

As for Classic I just like it more for nostalgia purposes and because I spend the time getting sapphires for membership on mobile, and also because the pillow room is absolutely insane on there and I enjoy watching (conspiracy theories and ragebaiters are a daily occurence, but I block a lot of them except for like one because I enjoy watching the arguments. I gotta make popcorn one of these days for these guys). Also the adventures are really fun nowadays. Anyways I hope you enjoy AJ whatever route you go down!

Yeah I am interested in classic mostly because of its masterpiece function tbh!! (research is not telling me if the new one has the drawing program too, so im assuming it doesnt? Still interested in checking it out at least once too!)

Im actually so pleased to hear you can just? Play to grind currency and GET the membership?? Not having to outright pay for it? Omg that is a game changer, i never see that sort of things with almost any game nowadays!! It makes me excited to start !!!!
