The Firefox is a mythical and elusive fox of the North that is coveted by hunters in Finnish mythology. Thus creating the infamous ‘Northern Lights’ which in Finnish translates to ‘revontulet’ meaning ‘fox fires.’ There is a small element of truth in this explanation as the fur can be charged with static energy, producing sparks. It’s also believed that if someone manages to catch the elusive firefox they will become rich and famous beyond their wildest dreams.

I would like to state that the Incan Empire lasted until the mid 1500s, and the Spanish Inquisition / expulsion of Jewish people from Spain and Portugal occurred in the 1400s, after which a contingent of migrants could have reasonably fled to the Americas on Portuguese trading vessels that were already operational in the region and moved to inland South America / Qusqu where the story took place.
