Just realised that this implies that the others, or at least Jax, couldve had careers and such that directly link to things to do with the circus, video games etc since hes visibly surprised that Pomni worked for a supermarket chain and questions how she ended up in the circus meaning there was probably a direct correlation between what jax was doing in his everyday life and the circus— or im reading too far into this.

Scrambled TADC thoughts and theories before ep 7

Okay this is going to be all over the place but I just have some thoughts I want to get out there before the episode today.

Something I’ve considered heavily is all the Raggedy Ann and Andy references and how much people have kind of looked past them. There’s been a reference nearly every episode and I believe it’s something we need to pay attention to because it’s weird. It makes sense that they would reference it because there is a ragdoll character in the show, but Ragatha isn’t the main character, so it feels unusual that she has all these references to another piece of media when none of the other cast members do (it’s not like Jax references Bugs Bunny or anything like that.)

So all that being said- why would it be important to reference the Raggedy Ann and Andy movie? Well, all the characters in that movie are toys, and they love Marcella, their owner. They understand that their job is to be played with and they accept it and enjoy the purpose of their life. I feel like that idea of perfectly coalesces with Gooseworx‘s answer when someone asked what she wanted people to take away from the show, and she said she wanted the message to be that there is meaning in a stagnant life. Stagnant, not being able to leave, just “playthings.”

And this is where I feel like the question is: are the people trapped in the circus playing the game, or are they the characters within the game? I would say they are the characters. This is when it really gets into theory town so buckle up. What if the headset was always meant to suck people into the game? What if the headset was supposed to make the characters (unethically) but the game was supposed to be played on the computer? The headset might have not been a VR headset but rather a device to scan the consciousness into the game. But if this were all to be true? Who is the player? Abel. Not an actual physical guy but “Abel” could be the code name for the player- an unseen force pulling the strings, influencing the characters actions and they don’t even realize it.

The last thing I wanted to touch on was the idea of whether or not the character designs are pre-programmed or are generated based on when a new person enters the circus. I feel it would make the most sense if they were all preprogrammed, and just unused assets until someone new joins. It just feels like that would make the most sense because it most parallels how an actual game is made, you either design characters beforehand, or you have a variety of customizable options. if this is the case though, eventually they would run out of unused assets, and if someone new joined the circus, they might not have a skin to be put in, which would explain the mannequin we see lurking around. What if they joined after Pomni, but there were no more character designs left to use?

This was so long I just wanted to get my ideas out there in case somehow I’m somewhat right. But that’s JUST A THEORY

it's embarrassing that i just realized the significance of this door this considering i'm writing a paper right now about this but

I have spent most of my semester in uni this year writing about the implications of artificial intelligence and what truly defines knowledge, and one theory I've been reading up on is the Chinese Room argument by John Searle. To summarize, the argument challenges the idea of an AI's capacity for intelligence by stating that a machine does not truly understand the variables it manipulates. Rather, it simply replicates what it believes to be logical based on the data and instructions given to it. Meanwhile, the recipients who receive this information are none the wiser, believing that the AI "inside the room" truly understands how to communicate. At least, until the AI starts generating information that no longer makes sense.

So if someone is going inside this room, it means we're finally going to see what the purpose of the circus is. We'll see the instructions given to Caine, why he makes the adventures, his logic behind those processes, and what the true outcome of this place intends.

And of course, the realization that no matter how human-like Caine is and how he tries to make the circus enjoyable, he only runs off of the programming given to him. He can't ever truly think for himself (for now).

That data and instruction are corruptible. So what if someone else starts pulling the strings?
