Oh yes. Lucifer remembered the angel of foreboding and death all too well. âI do indeed recall the name. No; she wouldnât care to speak of it, and itâs considered taboo among us to ask. Those are revelations entrusted to few, and wielded like blades just the same. You would do well to remember that; when one has your true name, they have power over you. Whether they realize it or not.â
âDonât worry,â he added. âI donât tug on the strings of my brothers and sisters. Integrity is useless if it is constantly hollow. You must have truth in some words for the others to be effective.âÂ
Looking satisfied, Lucifer watched as the staff came back and placed a perspiring glass of cool water along with a silver tray of ice beside the two. Lucifer was handed a glass of white champagne, which he took with a mutter of thanks before waving his hand and dismissing the servant. Â
âLet her react how she will. Itâs understandable. So long as she manages to keep herself composed and respect the boundaries I have set, I donât see a problem. I would expect her to continue in your service, just the same.â
Damien listened to his father carefully, nodding every now and then, but did not interrupt. He remembered how long it took for Azrael to reveal her true nature and name to Damien, acting the part of a demon for most of their time together, even getting her hands on a hellhound for protection.
âShe should. From the time I have known her, I have yet to see her act out of line. Her emotions are something she keeps tightly locked.â Damien gave a nod of thanks when the servant handed Damien his drink, before taking a drink of the water, a slight chuckle at his fatherâs words.
âShe doesnât serve me. Sheâs protected me. And just try to keep her from doing it.â Of course, Damien knew why she felt the need to protect him, but perhaps that is a conversation for his father and Azrael to have.
âThank you for letting her stay as well. I donât think she would take to our separation well. I imagine she will enjoy the gardens here.â He mused, his tone mildly distracted.
