Spring is in the air! (well sorta..)

The weather has been so nice where I live recently! Here's some outfits to get you through the awkward transition between cold/warm. It is a constant battle of what to wear today when it comes to dressing for the weather. Transitional pieces like chambray button ups, flannels, and cardigans mixed with shorter dresses and skirts make great pre-spring outfits. While some might say its a little early to break out the spring accessories, clean and simple looks work best!

Valentine's Day Inspiration

This Valentine's Day its all about feminine details. Instead of sticking to the usual hearts and kisses on Valentine's Day, go for a more simple look. Classic details like lace, peter pan collars, red/pink, and floral patterns make for a sweet but not over done outfit. For accessories,  you can definitely play up the heart theme with earrings or a necklace!

Grammys 2014

The Grammys were a big night for fashion. I first have to give a big props to the guys this year. While there typically isn't much you can do with a suit, the guys looked spot on and handsome! Of course though, the girls were where fashion really shined! 

Some major trends

Gold/Silver- One of the nights most seen trends were dresses in gold or silver. As seen on Taylor Swift, her dress featured a chainmail design, while others chose gold detailing. 

White Lace/Sheer- Beyonce's dress was perfection. Featuring an elaborate sheer design, this dress made Beyonce look amazing. Another dress similar was Paris Hilton's. 

Tulle/Draping- Katy Perry's dress was by far my favorite of the night. I saw this dress on the runway recently and loved it and was surprised to see Katy wearing it. Featuring a full tulle skirt (with music signs!) whats not to love. Another dress featuring major draping was Swift's performance dress. The amount of draping on this dress is classic and will make it a major trend in dresses.

Golden Globes 2014 Look For Less

The looks:

Lupita Nyong'o- Lupita wore a red-orange cape dress, giving the appearance of long sleeves. For the look for less, I did a short dress and long, both with long, loose fitting sleeves to give it the style of Lupita's dress.

Amy Poehler- Amy wore a simple but classy black dress with a cutout in the middle. It  also featured an asymmetrical top. For the look for less, cutouts were key! 

Amber Heard- Absolutely stunning! This was one of my favorite looks for the night. Changing it up by wearing navy blue, she also turned heads by a thigh high slit! I mean look at that leg! For this look, I chose an off the off shoulder navy blue dress, the slit of course optional. 

Taylor Swift- Taylor looked amazing! Wearing a rose colored dress with black bodice, her look was classy and fun. For this look, the colors were what I was looking for. A simple rose pink with black detailing on both makes Taylor's dress an easy look to copy. 

Amy Adams- Amy chose a gorgeous, plunging v-neck two toned dress. For this look for less, it was hard to find two toned dress, so I went for the colors she wore for each dress. They feature full skirts similar to Amy's dress. And of course the v-neck that made this dress stand out.

Snow day! Although I am still on winter break, it's a snow day for many other schools tomorrow. Whether you have school or not though, it is cold and snowy across many of the states. Here's what I consider the perfect snow day outfit! 

The main thing in any cold weather is layers and to bundle up-whether you wear a warm sweater, a comfy sweatshirt, or a long sleeve shirt with something layered over it!

Do you ever have a shopping slump?

Usually when I go to the mall I find a lot of things I love and a lot of things I need to buy. But since I have been home, I have gone to the mall twice. Once before Christmas and just the other day. I just couldn't find anything! This time of year the only thing I want to buy is sweaters but when you have as many sweaters as I do, they begin to all look alike. Other than that, I don't need anything. Dresses, skirts, blouses... nope. And don't even get me started on the spring clothes they've begun to put out! Maybe its just me becoming a smarter shopper. Not needing to buy everything I see.

New Year's Eve is upon us and if you are still in the need of an outfit here are some ideas!

Colors: Black, Golds/Creams, and Dark Reds will definitely be a hit and a way to be fashionable. It will also be safe since you wont be pulling off any crazy pattern or color!

Fabric: Velvet, tulle, and lace will be a huge hit! 

Any surprising detailing will be fun, such as sheer sleeves. Whatever you decide, just remember to have fun and be fashionable! New Year's Eve is all about ringing in the year-Cheers!

Boots- When I'm at school I alternate between my riding boots and combat boots pretty much everyday.

Sweaters- I can never have enough sweaters

Scarves- I am currently obsessed with bulky infinity scarves

Vests- I don't have any vests (other than denim) but I definitely think I will have to buy one next time I go to the mall 

Oversized cardigans- again other thing I am in love with but don't have
