For the most part I’m pretty neutral on Elain but every now & then I lean into having a STRONG disdain for her…
Anyway today my brain decided to remind me that Elain sold Feyre out to Tamlin when Tamlin came barreling through the door & demanded to know who killed Andras & Elain did not hesitate to say “it wasn’t us”…as she & her father cowered behind Nesta…which then forced Feyre to admit it was her
In fact Nesta & Feyre were so shocked that Elain sold Feyre out that they both looked at each other in complete shock & disbelief before looking back at Elain…
All I’m saying is if my older sister did that to me I would immediately be asking for 2 minutes…AND BEAT MY SISTER/ELAIN BLOODY & SENSELESS!! I would be cashing that lick back in IMMEDIATELY!!
I don’t even like Feyre but she really should have whooped Elain ass just before she left with Tamlin!
I’m laughing because imagine what Tamlin would be hearing from outside😭😭🤣🤣
This is the moment that confirms it. Nesta is refusing to train, and the consequences for not training are being dumped in the Human Lands. That is not a safe place for Nesta, she would be reviled and targeted and hunted down. When the IC were telling Nesta it was be locked up and trained or be sent to the Human Lands, they were making threats. Cassian joins in on these threats, and here, relinquishes responsibility for if these threats are carries through. He is making it clear to Nesta that if she doesn't follow the IC's orders, he won't intervene if the IC punish her for it.
I think Cassian's protectiveness of Nesta is limited to outside threats. Nesta is his Mate, therefore she's his. An outside threat targeting something that is his is outrageous. But Cassian considers himself to belong to the Inner Circle, to Rhys most of all, and therefore what is his is their's, and as Nesta is his, they, especially Rhys, ultimately have the right to do what they like to her. Cassian might not like it, but ultimately, that's the way of things.
I'm still not over how there was complaining both about Nesta not using IC money to rent a luxury apartment and simultaneously complaining about her renting an apartment at all
Remember when we thought Elain would be the one to stand by Nesta's side and understand what she was going through but instead ran out crying because Nesta "was not even trying" after a couple days of being locked up
Remember when we thought Elain would be one of the few to have faith in Nesta being able to heal but the first words she said to her in months were “did feyre pay you to be here”
The first Feylin smut scene was monsterfucking coded.
Despite Tamlin's mostly humanoid appearance and behavior, the biological and magical power imbalance between the two was very clear here (and sexualized, affectionately)
Feyre wanted him, but was also nervous about her first time with a fae. And Tamlin was very cautious with her, having never been with a human before either. She trembled, he stopped and went slower, gentler. She sucked in a breath, he hesitated, pulled back.
And then we get to this part, where Feyre acknowledges that even with his power bound, she could die from fucking him he was that powerful, but she trusted that she could survive him.
Beast off its tether, the use of retractable claws, shredding of clothes, roaring, growling, and ravenous, predatory hunger (the last two not uncommon for romantasy in general, but still)
Feyre -> willing to risk dying for a taste of that Tamlin 🍆
Loathe loathe LOATHE when Nesta, who has always been denied her own humanity, compared to a viper, a witch, a rabid dog, a beast, pure death, impenetrable, is crying out to Cassian, asking for him to love her in a human way, a way she understands, not as a mate but as a person…and his response is to center his own insecurity…bitch…
Feyre fell in love with tamlin without a magical bond. Amarantha had Rhys for 50 years but still wanted tamlin. Rhys himself is still hooked on tamlin. In this essay I will prove that the dark, shadow daddy pales in comparison to the blond, fiddle-playing beast of a man
Some lily of the valley dividers (and other random blue and gold stuff) for @jadedbug ! You suggested these ages ago and I had them as a draft of mine for too long😩
Through the hood of her cloak, Nesta looked over her shoulder with frantic eyes. Gone was the crown, the trove tucked away somewhere safely. Void of that ethereal power, her nerves were ablaze. The knock on the door echoed, a deafening drum in the heart of Velaris. Too loud, too noticeable. Too risky.
Nesta had barely brought her arm down when the door opened, shadows greeting her from within. Tentatively, Nesta walked beyond the threshold, those dark tendrils doing very little to still her beating heart. Concealed, the male spoke, his voice as light as vapor. “Isn’t it a little late for a visit?”
Nesta tried to ignore the shiver that ran down her spine as a shadow danced across her earlobe. A kiss of recognition for their time spent together many moons ago. “I need your help,” Nesta whispered, walking deeper into the darkness. Her eyes adjusted until just the outline of his bulky body was visible, the male looked like a demon from Hell. Yet, she walked closer to him, her faith in him outweighing his off putting appearance. Demon or no, she needed him. “It’s gone too far, Azriel.”
“What happened?” Azriel’s voice was flat, assessing. He breathed in deeply, she knew whose scent he smelled mixed with her own. It was impossible to wash him away, Rhysand was a forever stain on her. “Where is he?”
“He wants to use me as a—a—,” A shaky sob escaped Nesta, despite her valiant efforts to keep it all in. She could not ward off the fear from eroding right into her very bones. It was of no use, her story was already written plainly in the stars, wasn’t it? Could she change her own fate? Would the Mother grant her that grace? Nesta thought not.
But, still, she had to try.
The male before didn’t balk from her tears, didn’t back away until nothing but shadows remained in his stead. No, Azriel simply wrapped his arms around her, encapsulating Nesta in his warmth. She didn’t realize how cold she was, how much she was shaking until now, his wings folding tightly around her. A moment passed, minutes ticking by as they stood there silently, the beat of Nesta’s heart returning to its normal rhythm. Slowly, she raised her head, the stray tendrils of her hair sticking to her tear stained face. She wiped them away. “He plans to use me as a weapon,” Nesta whispered, the words barely audible.
Azriel pulled back slightly, his hands still resting around her back. “Is he—did you…?” The words wouldn’t flow from his lips, the possibility of it too real for him to actually speak it into the universe. Hurt laced itself into her blood, around her heart. Of course, his main concern was Rhysand, his brother. Nesta felt stupid for believing he would feel otherwise.
Nesta laughed darkly, she was nearing the lines of hysteria. She removed herself from his embrace, the cold finding its way deep into her veins once more. “Gods, Rhysand is fine, Azriel. Though, I should have killed your perfect little High Lord for what he’s been planning.” She walked along the wall, portraits greeting her in the dark, only visible by the silver glint of the moon streaming in through the window. Headshots of the Inner Circle, painted by her sister. Nesta avoided their eyes until she came upon the last portrait—the newest. Elain’s beautiful face stared back at her, a perfidy of its own. Elain’s relationship with Feyre had grown far closer over the year that granted no space for Nesta.
Bile danced in her stomach, Elain was a part of their circle. They were a family, bonding together in ways she never would with anyone. And, clear as day, Nesta stood far, far away from that damn circle. Hesitantly, Nesta turned back to the shadowsinger, the question simmering on the tip of her tongue. “Were you aware of his intentions?”
She didn’t truly need his response, as she already knew the answer. Though, it didn’t stop the betrayal from hitting her like a punch to the gut when Azriel nodded softly, and said, regrettably so, “Yes.”
Ignoring the hurt—ignoring the growing ire in her veins—Nesta let out a slow breath that, much to her surprise, didn’t tremble. “You will bring me to the Autumn Court.” She did not ask, she did not beg. Simply, as if the crown were atop her head, she demanded.
“I can’t do that,” Azriel said, his voice nearing pleading. “They’ll kill you and then Rhys will have my head for it.”
“Oh, but you will.” Nesta stalked towards him, his shadows in a frenzy as she neared closer. Nesta had a sense of glowing, of silver light emanating from her and lightening the room. “For the sake of your High Lord, for the sake of your High Lady, you’ll bring me where I please.”
Silence passed them briefly, Azriel’s swallow was audible in the quiet, and then he gave a curt nod. “Okay.”
Nesta started, the frigid stance she was in melting away ever so slightly. She didn’t expect him to give in so easily, not without the help of the crown. “Okay,” she repeated, tugging her cloak tighter around herself and standing taller. “Good.”
“I’ll do this for you, Nesta, but you can’t come back.” Azriel grabbed her hand. Shadows snaked up her arm, digging deep underneath the heavy material of her cloak. They were warm, and so unlike Rhysand’s. The cold of his was biting, remarkably so. “And don’t let Rhysand find you. Gods know what type of fit he’s going to throw once he realizes that you’re gone.”
“Just bring me, shadowsinger,” Nesta replied, her voice sharp. “I’ll be out of your life by sunrise if we hurry, and then your merry little court can go back to normalcy. Your High Lord will forget about me soon enough, I promise.”
Azriel snorted, pulling her to the door. “For being so close to him, you sure do like reducing Rhysand’s fondness for you.” Opening the heavy mahogany, Azriel ushered her out. “Weapon or no, you’re still his. He’s made that much clear.”
“I belong to no one,” Nesta said defiantly with narrowed eyes. She tried to ignore the flutter in her stomach as Azriel scooped her up bridal style.
Azriel breathed, his breath hot on her neck. “Yeah, keep telling that to yourself.” Wings flapping, he lifted her up into the air. An incessant ache in the shape of Rhysand thrummed through her skull. It seemed she had plenty to think of on their flight.
Stars blanketed the black velvet sky, and she felt as though the burning embers were just an arms length away. She could touch them if she merely reached out her hand, if only she were brave enough to do so. If only she did not feel so weighed down, a slab of marble flying through the air. She knew what it felt like to fall, to tumble to the ground with no one to catch her. She would not make that mistake again.
So, Nesta pressed tighter against Azriel, her hands clutched into fists against her chest.
I can just feel the tension & drama that’s going to come with Nesta now being gone & Azriel now being the one to help her, but also Azriel knowing Rhysand wanting to use Nesta as weapon…ew but unsurprising but still ew. 😆
In the year of 2026 why has @tumblr NOT created a tab that is solely for our posts!! Not posts that include the reblogged posts of someone’s else’s post, JUST OUR OWN DAMN POSTS!!
Why do I feel like I have to jump through hoops just to find all my own posts.
Take a shot for every time I wrote “post” in here😭😂
crying because when Cassian met Nesta for the first time he immediately wants her in his bed but when Lanthys met Nesta he promised her that she’ll be his queen as well to not only give her palaces but the world, he really said “RIP to the Lord of Bastards but i’m built different” 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
One thing I'll actually want to implode about if it's in the sixth book is any description of Elain as she left the cauldron, specifically regarding her body and her wet nightgown.
The book is in her sister's pov, why does she need to point out that Elain's chest is small??? WHAT THE FUCK. Why wasn't her immediate instinct to do what Lucien did and try to cover her up?
Feyre's mate stripped her half naked in public and did nothing to cover her up afterwards (only Lucien did, AGAIN) so why should she, doesn't Elain know being paraded half-naked in public is a sign of love? (Also her mate commented on her breasts in Summer Court so ofc she comments about her sister's breasts too it's the polite thing to do)
