“…” she was… confused. Ida reached for the file and opened it, seeing it was- “this is the file. But-” she looked back inside. The calling card.

“Ida?…Ida what is it?” Matt power walks to see what got her attention. He walks around to see the calling card and looks on.
“Is it who I think it is?”
"But- but he's still missing- Sly is still missing!" Ida put the file back, not caring to close the safe back up as she hurried to the lab.
"How!? It's been almost 7 years! 7! I swear to hell dad if you were saying Sly was here all this time and being vague to piss Bento off I SWEAR-"
"No, I did not. But your jab at Cooper's sudden presence is quite interesting."
Moss screamed in delight, seeing a much older, more torn up ox bull leaning on the far wall. Calmly cleaning his flexing hooves as Ida gawked.

theferrysirenshq “Oh no! We’ve got the combination. But now it’s just a moment of wondering where the right safe is!” She looked at the combination and safe number again, going on to leave the room and down the hall. “Now let’s see, five more safes are in the lab, two in the kitchen…”
25 total safes. That was a lot. But how were they to quickly find the notes and blueprints before another commotion drew the trio away from their quest?
“How good are you with recalling small combinations? Cause this will take all night to find and input the combination in every single… safe.. wow this word is going to sound weird by the end.”
Matt pats Moss as he looks at the safes intently so he can memorize them. He spots his phone on the table and gently picks it up, giving a wipe before answering Ida.
“I can remember them very well. I have a very good memory. I just got to find like paper to write on. Just to be safe. Is it a good idea to write them down otr gitially add them to my phone notes? I imagine you want to avoid things like hackers or papers being blow away. Both can get lost.”
He shivers, feeling suddenly cold. Strange, hIt wasn’t that cold, but his jacket is pretty light, mayb its the weather or the tempature. “Is it me or it is a little cold? I know reptiles are cold blooded but this is pushing it.”
“Cold? It isn’t c-” then she remembered. She didn’t feel the cold. She was a walking heater with little firm matter keeping her void-like insides from spilling out onto the steel floor.
She let out a hearty breath, watching the cold cloud rise through warm wisps.
“Dad?” she stopped by the wall and rested her palm against it. “Are… are you back?”
It was a bare second and then, the area was again room temperature. A passing chill?
“Grap!” Moss was certain, even without the otherworldly cold, that Granan was back. Somewhat.
“Grandfather, oh, so he’s better. That’s a relief.” Matt sighs in relief and uses one hand to put on a hat. Since he went on that being’s good side, he is not as frighten as he was before. Still the formless being can be a little unsettling but as long as everyone, including Moss, feel safe around him, then, he’ll be okay too. He thought to himself “Annette would probably ask like a thousand questions about his origins.”
“I take that that he and dad…I mean, Bentley of that timeline, made it out okay. How is he?”
“He’s healing fine. But he’s not able to walk… again.” Honestly how many times does one man need to have his legs the victim of extreme acts of complete idiotic events?
Those legs weren’t even real, Ms. Ruby got the real ones decomposing in her stomach all the way back at Harth Row Prison. Yikes.
“Grapa is home. Daddy?” Moss was confused over the passed chill. Something didn’t seem right. Or was it that he was wrong? The chill wasn’t a normal thing inside the hideout. “Daddy.” Something else was with it.
“Hm?” Ida didn’t have exact attention on the child, maybe a fault that let Moss slink off to wherever he wanted. But it was enough for Moss again to speak up.
“Daddy’s home. Home?” What was this child trying to say ultimately… escapes even I.
“I’m sorry to hear that. How did it happen? I only recall the entering this ltiemline by following Moss to a field of darkness, and transititoned to finding the lab in dissary.”
Speaking of Moss, he appears worried. Unsure if he’s chilly or detecting something. According to Annette, babies can detect otherworldy entities, so very likely Granan or another being is nearby. “I don’t know if I brought a blanket with me or another jacket. Are you sure you or Moss do’t feel chilly?”
“We recovered a time machine the High Ends were disposing of. Penelope told us they used it to hunt down Sly, but we never were told what else occurred.” Ida fixed her sleeves, not much to do either than chew her lips. “When we recovered it, it shocked Penelope the first time we tried to examine it and-”
Oh, she felt terrible bringing that day back up.
“She had to receive a lot of medical attention. The multiple timelines started splitting from there. But what she couldn’t warn us during any of our time using the machine, was that the machine was deliberately made of parts that disintegrated or-or broke or dissolved over multiple uses!”
The machine was already pooling smoke that caked the entire ceiling. Bentley was hovering over the bare schematics that were taken with several redactions and what little Penelope could manage to remember.

Matt pauses as he listens closely to Ida’s account. He could only imagine what could have happened. What did they see, what did they avoid and the close calls they experienced.
From what he can remember from his parents, the trip to finding his uncle was not easy, but it didn’t get as difficult as what he is hearing. Splitting timelines like that would be disastreous, no wonder Penelope look unsteady. How everyone else stayed sane is blessing for him. He wonders if Sly from that timeline is well. At least, he hope so.
“Dad warned me about time traveling too much. Dimension jumping can take so much stress from the tavel. Any more and timelines would just, get messy. It’s hard to describe but it is enough to make sure I don’t abuse that power.”
“I feared you’d say that…” Ida stopped at a collage of photos. Strewn over the years of the Gang’s early career. Old frames, cracked glass, even a few pictures have been altered with bitter scratches to faces or heavy bleeding markers blotting out one’s whole figure.
But they were memories, the bare minimum. They stayed.
“Time for the next safe…” the picture she pulled to the side, an old collection of all three main members in their early garbs and generation fitting accessories, was quickly obstructed by her calm hand and exposed a bronze safe.
“Feared, what do you mean?” Matt approaches Ida and looks over the photo. He pauses, keeping a close eye on the photo, recalling all the stories dad will tell him.
“I dad is always a cool guy, I just thought he is just making stuff up. Exaggerating his tales of him and his uncles to just look cool for me and sis. Then I start to study a bit more.”
“What’s in the bronze safe, may I see it?”
