In Control | Loki & Clint
Loki had never felt more alive; the power that coursed through the scepter had taken him over, body and soul. He was finally in control of his own destiny and this realm was soon to become his kingdom. An entire realm for him to rule and mold to his liking; this was much better than becoming the king of Asgard. No one took him seriously on Asgard; here, he would be beloved. Every single Midgardian would kneel before him and accept him as their one true ruler. They would have to- or face his allies, the Chitari. He smirked to himself as he walked through the dark halls of his lair. The Chitari had given him the power he had been craving most of his adult life and he would reward them handsomely for their aid.
However, for the time being, he was to wait until the time was right. He had gathered more people to serve him and they were all working diligently to make sure that his plans went off without any inconveniences. At the moment, he was looking for his first choice- The Hawk Man- to see if his minions were any closer to finishing their task. "Barton." He said quietly as he used his mind's eye to find the Midgardian. "I need you." He flicked his fingers towards him, bringing the archer towards him. The archer made his way down from his 'nest' and walked towards Loki. Upon reaching his king, the Midgardian fell to one knee in a respectful bow. "How are things coming along?" Loki asked, lazily stroking his scepter. "Our friends are starting to grow impatient..."
Play Pretend || Loki & Lorelei
Lorelei sat down on the edge of his bed quietly when he offered, her hands resting on her lap. For a long moment, she stared down at them, unable to look up and meet his gaze. Her shoulders shrugged faintly in response, thinking of the right way to word it so as not to get a harsh reaction from him. Finally, she realized that a harsh reaction was most likely inevitable at this point, causing her to finally speak in a hushed tone. “I just keep thinking about you,” Lorelei murmured, still looking down at her lap. “I came here because…” She trailed off, slowly looking up to meet his gaze at last. “Do you think we could, maybe, we could pretend that,” she took a shaky breath to steady herself, “the spell is still here? Just for the night.” She pressed her lips together a quick moment, feeling the heat rush to her cheeks as she added just above a whisper, “I won’t tell anyone.”
"Yes," The words left Loki's lips before he could truly think about her request. He looked at her for a moment, taking in her every feature as he thought about what he had just said. Was this really what he wanted? It was a good way to end things, to be sure. Perhaps this would get his feelings for Lorelei out of his system. One more night and then they would be done. It would be as simple as that... would it not? Loki nodded at her before moving to join her on the bed. He sat next to her and gave her a small, genuine smile to show her that he was serious about his decision. Wordlessly, he held out his arms to her before pulling her in close to him. He rested his head atop hers and sighed, taking in the sweet scent of her hair. This felt so comfortable and familiar... "Is this alright for our pretend?" He whispered, "Or did you want to do more?"
I have become comfortably numb.
What even is a 'Coachella'?
Yes, as well as annoying. It’s hotter than the island we just visited, plus all those people crammed together in one place. I’d rather not be in attendance. I believe it is mainly a type called Indie. I have yet to fully grasp the reason for its popularity.
[smirks at the mention of large crowds] Sounds beautifully chaotic. I definitely must attend now. I believe I have heard of Indie music... I rather enjoy it.
Play Pretend || Loki & Lorelei
Her eyes widened when Volstagg opened the door, frozen in her spot like that Midgardian saying, something relating to a “deer” and lights. Her mouth opened but no words came out, and instead she pointed over to Loki’s side of the room, hoping Volstagg would understand. Thankfully he did, and she silently entered the room, and she began to second-guess herself as Loki neared her. Her voice caught in her throat yet again as she opened her mouth, though this time she was able to speak after a beat. “I cannot sleep,” since I was last here, she thought the latter part of her sentence, too scared to receive a cold reaction from him to say it aloud. Her hands began fidgeting with each other just slightly, and she took a quiet yet deep breath, glancing over to Volstagg’s bed. Almost silently, she whispered back to Loki, “is he asleep?”
Loki could not help but chuckle as he noticed that she was completely flustered upon entering his shared chambers. She was sweet, almost too sweet. A quality that Loki found endearing though he felt that he should not. "Cannot sleep?" He repeated raising an eyebrow. In all truth, he did not know what he had been expecting her to say. Part of him felt like he was owed an apology while another part of him felt that that side was wrong to think so. He nodded, not even bothering to glance at the sleeping oaf as he answered her question. "Indeed, while light knocks can stir the beast, a conversation shall not." He inclined his head towards his bed, "You may sit, if you wish." He stood with his arms folded across his chest as he waited for her to sit before speaking once more. "I did not know I was not the only one with sleeping troubles...why are you still awake at this hour?"

Play Pretend || Loki & Lorelei
Lorelei spent her night the same she had spent her nights for the past month or so, now. Tossing and turning in her bed, unable to sleep for long periods of times. Only tonight, it was worse. She had been so stupid, kissing the Prince’s cheek in such an informal manner; she had become too bold for her own good in this new realm, she knew that now. With a sigh, she turned on her back and stared up at the ceiling of her bed chamber, not bothering to try and close her eyes. There was no way she could sleep; her thoughts were racing. After a long moment of hesitation, she slowly stood to her feet. She had been so bold earlier that day; there was really no going back at this point.
Before she could second guess herself, Lorelei tiptoed down the halls and up to Loki’s door, the one she hadn’t dared ventured near since their less than pleasant altercation. When she reached his door, her closed fist paused just in front of his door, wondering what Volstagg’s reaction would be if he were to find her here at such an hour. Telling herself she couldn’t back out now, she took the chance and rapped her knuckles lightly against the door.
Staring up at the ceiling until the early hours of the morning had become a nightly routine with the young god. Loki was consumed, as always, by thoughts of her. Ever since the spell that had made him want to kiss and be with her, he could not get his former minion out of his head. He had tried to convince himself that it had just been the spell, that he had no real feelings for Lorelei. A month had passed and he was still not sure what had been real or fake during his spell, until recently, that is. He had come to the realization that not everything had been he spell's doing. Loki's actions- his feelings- had been his and his alone. He should be angry with himself for this and to some extent he was. How could he have let himself develop feelings for someone when he was supposed to be plotting his ascension to the throne? However...Lorelei was a beautiful Asgardian woman, why couldn't he have feelings for her...
A light knocking on the door caused Volstagg to bolt out of bed, startling Loki in the process. The Lion Warrior was, surprisingly, a light sleeper for someone of his... well, his usual size. "Whos'er?" Volstagg sleepily roared and went to open the door. Loki rolled his eyes at the oaf and resumed looking up at the ceiling. "Loki. 's Lady Lorelei." Volstagg grumbled as he made his way back to bed before flopping down onto it and resuming his snoring. Glancing down, Loki saw that Lorelei was indeed standing in his doorway. Most people would have been surprised by a visit at this hour, but not he. Loki had been expecting her for quite some time now. He gracefully climbed down from his bed and strolled over to her. "Lorelei," He murmured, politely inclining his head. "How may I assist you at this hour?"
What even is a 'Coachella'?
I-I am trying; it is a lot harder for me, Lo– Prince, than it is for you.
[eyes flash] You sound quite sure of that, my lady.
What even is a 'Coachella'?
[looks to her feet, stepping back from him, repeating quietly] Sorry.
I want to go back to the way things were before all of this spell nonsense.
What even is a 'Coachella'?
[stands back on her feet, her hand reaching out to rest on his chest, though she hesitates and pulls her hand back at the last moment, looking up at him and unable to say anything]
[looks back down at her, allowing a pained expression to cross his face. says simply] I do not like this, Lorelei.
What even is a 'Coachella'?
[nods, her eyes watering slightly, stepping towards him after a moment and standing on the tips of her toes, her lips just barely pressing to his cheek as she closes her eyes in attempts to stop the watering] I am sorry, My Prince.
[closes his eyes as he feels her lips pressed against his cheek, almost inaudibly] It is not your fault.
