🎃's 3rd Message: Part by part parallels

A diamond heist*. Dressed in your wife’s black leather and the mask of an illusionist

You’ve impeccably plotted your way into the museum. Somersaulting past ancient artifacts, stopping only to admire a statue or two.

Encased in glass, there lies a mirror. The reflection inside is rightly yours, and yet you’ve had to immorally earn your chance to claim it, to have and to hold it.

Your team works quickly and quietly. You’ve made it unscathed. Almost.

Your getaway bike begins to leave without you, sparks flying* as the tires try and fail to slow down for you. You have frozen in this moment of indecision. But your hesitation was a decision all its own.

Diamond heist* - albums are sometimes referred to or awarded as diamonds once they reach 10M units. So it can be a "album" or "music" heist? Or basically the Masters heist.

It’s the 3rd 🎃 message and speak now is the 3rd album. Plus sparks fly is on speak now

“Diamond heist” (mastersheist) // “you wear the same jewels that I gave you as you bury me” // lwymmd mv where Taylor is being buried which cuts to her in a tub of diamonds. And there’s the vault like the one in the lwymmd mv which has an orange tint and we all know abt the orange=karma theories. “Meet me tonight” // “meet me at midnight” // Karma is at 12:00 in the man mv // someone threatening to reveal her true identity to a wider audience before she’s ready and cruelly removing her mask // her wearing a mask in the lwymmd mv during the vault scene and taking it off while singing “all I think about is karma”

There are sparks flying here too

“Somersaulting past ancient artifacts, stopping only to admire a statue or two” -> Joey somersaulting past the lasers and her and Taylor L stopping to look at the mean mv display case. The displays are all from past eras hence “ancient”

“Your team works quickly and quietly” ->“It’s best that we move fast and keep quiet” during the scene where her team meets up

“It’s a good thing you always keep a pack of matches on you” -> them blowing up the museum and her past selves/eras in the display cases at the end. It matches w all our “meet me at midnight” theories. Fire is one of the main motifs of midnights—she’s holding a lighter on the album cover so obviously the fire symbolism is quite important. She struck a match and burned down the lover house representing her past selves/eras and closet

For some reason Eclipse imagery is important to Taylor. Obviously I can’t say why but if I had to guess I’d say 1) eclipses hide something 2) eclipses block the sun(shine) 3) eclipses are frequent but don’t last very long 3a) I wonder if we will get full sunshine imagery when they are both free

AGAIN with Fire as a tool of reclamation. Taylor is a Sag sun which is a fire sign (I am too). The use of destructive Fire since Midnights dropped is so interesting to me. Before in much of Taylor’s work we see fire as comforting and contained—fire places/campfires/candles/sparklers. Since Midnights we’ve gotten houses burning by Taylor’s own hand, castles burning by dragon fire, vaults exploding with the help of past Beards. IMO it speaks a lot to her beginning to own her power instead of keeping it contained in a way that makes everyone else feel comfortable

i fear i wont articulate this correctly but at the end of the video as they are running away from the building filled with speak now memorabilia being destroyed so she can escape, taylor stops and looks back. and that little moment is so complex and heartbreaking to me because its like. she was trapped in there counting the days on the wall for when she'd be free. but its so clear on her face when she turns back that she didn't want to have to destroy all of the things she'd done just to break free from being locked away, to own her work again. she took her speak now versions painting (her rerecording) and ran. but she still looks back on this building filled with the other pieces she couldn't bring with and stops for a second as if in disbelief, awe, heartache even that this what it came to in order to survive. it shows on her face so clearly. and the rest of the crew yells for her that they have to leave (that its time to go if you will) and she bolts. but ! that pause and all it entails! it hurts. the rerecordings are a great thing in the sense that she gets to own her work but its so painful it happened This way
