Don’t forget “the social worker never actually offered the services, but marked the client down as refused so they could get through their case load on time”
The degree to which modern fans deliberately project their personal psychological issues onto fictional characters is alarming.
You are expected to "relate" to some characters and stories. Yes. That is not the same thing I keep witnessing, where people will decide a given character is literally everything they are the very instant they have anything in common, or an antagonist is exactly like a real person who hurt them, and emotionally invest SO much into this that they can feel actually betrayed when the events deviate from exactly the catharsis they hoped for.
This seems so normalized by some people, I suspect they assume by default that this is basically what fiction is "for" and it never even crossed their minds that you're supposed to enjoy most stories as an outside observer rather than as some sort of guided roleplay session.
This is why creators get harassed and abused more than ever by entitled fandoms.
No, it's not normal, you are not supposed to think of it that way, fictional characters are separate beings from you.

These numbers are STAGGERING. The AI bubble genuinely is risking the entire global economy

theres ALWAYS a relevant XKCD for everything huh
that conversation is particularly irritating because my wife (they/them not a man not a woman) came very close to dying from an abdominal abscess caused by endometriosis. we had the good fortune of (eventually) ending up in the care of a world-renowned expert, my wife's surgery was especially scheduled because he was leaving to go to a conference.
he was excited because he was going to get to discuss his theory of why endometriosis happens with another world-renowned expert, who has a competing theory.
despite affecting somewhere between 5 and 10% of people with uteruses, we do not actually know why it happens. it was up for debate as of two thousand and twenty three.
"okay so explain it to me" is just blatantly ridiculous. we don't fucking know, have you heard of medical misogyny??????
For anyone wondering, the PhD student's name is Myra Cheng.
Here's a link to an article about the study from the Stanford Report: link.
Across three preregistered studies, participants interacting with sycophantic AI became more convinced of their own rightness and less willing to repair relationships. Yet at the same time, participants rated sycophantic AI models as higher quality, more trustworthy, and more desirable for future use, which may explain why this behavior has persisted despite its harmful impacts.

the world's smallest carnivore is called the "least weasel" 😭😭 i'm dying but like if it's the smallest carnivore then it sure is the least amount of weasel you can have 😭😭😭
Look at him: this is absolutely the least amount of weasel you can have
To really put it in perspective
Immediately I love him
Remember the time it was so hot in halifax that the lampposts melted because I completely forgot to post about it when I was actually in halifax so here it is 2 weeks late
They just look so tired and ready to give up.
this is an art installation
the melting point of steel is over 2,600 degrees fahrenheit
it was a rough summer in halifax
so are we just supposed to ignore kendrick lamar having lyrics about killing trans women? “toupee drop and a dude just popped out t of that tank top and bra / and when i say du du du du, bitch that be k-dot” ? he’s talking about shooting and killing a woman when he finds out she’s trans aka trans panic. he’s a vile transphobe, why are you platformong him?
think you've got the wrong lyrics there
Toupée drop and her two tits pop Out of that tank top and bra And when I say "Doo-doo-doo-doo," bitch, that be K. Dot
and notably in context he is. not talking about murdering the woman he's rapping about here? from the genius annotations
A Toupée is an artificial hair piece, for all practical purposes, a wig. Toupée, like touche and en garde, is a french word. Toupee is being used here in the sense of a convertible…like drop the top…when Kendrick is driving and drops the top on his convertible, his girl can’t help but get a little loose and let the girls out. This ["doo-doo-doo-doo"] is Kendrick’s signature ad-lib likely developed from his song “Cartoon & Cereal.” This ad-lib is meant to resemble gunshots. This is something Kendrick came used to due to his upbringing in Compton, a city known notoriously for its high crime rate. K-Dot was Kendrick’s original rap name, and has now become an alter-ego. While Kendrick himself is laid back and calm, K-Dot is the more aggressive Compton side.
but thanks for sending me three separate asks about how kendrick lamar loves killing trans women. nothing about this feels racist at all
Kendrick noteably has a song about his uncle (a trans man) and his cousin (a trans woman) that is probably up there as one of his most heartfelt songs of all time, but I remember on an old blog where I once posted one thing about Kendrick and someone immediately jumped into my inbox berating me for talking about an antisemitic artist (and similarly to the above anon, they had completely confused their information).
I know Kendrick isn’t perfect, but I used to talk about a lot of artists on my old blog and coincidentally it was only the Black artists that had multiple people explaining to me exactly why I shouldn’t listen to them, with baseless and incorrect information that they hadn’t bothered to look up properly. I don’t just think this anon is being racist, I know they are because the second you mention a rap artist, it seems like every white person on tumblr has to crawl out of the woodwork and try to hide their overall disdain for Black artists with random excuses as to why those artists are the most dangerous and violent people alive.
You’re not slick. You could’ve spent five seconds searching up “Kendrick Lamar and trans women” into Google and you’d immediately be linked to Auntie Diaries, but you decided to choose a misheard lyric in a song that didn’t mention trans women once and berate someone for sharing a single Black artist. I’ve seen these games before, anon!!
And not just any Black artist, either, but one who is like… actively trans supportive! I’ve said it before, but Kendrick Lamar has done more for me as trans man than pretty much every white popstar that tumblr loves to put on a pedestal for simply saying “protect the dolls” once in an interview. Kendrick’s not the perfect ally, but he sure as hell is a genuine one.
Anyway, go listen to Mr Morales & The Big Steppers.
I think part of the problem is that, like, a hundred years ago there were Extremely Strict gender roles for both men and women, and then due to the hard work of a century of feminists (thank you feminists) we have massively expanded what a woman can be. We are nearing (hopefully) the point where women really can be Anything.
However, the idea of what a man can be has not expanded in the same way. Every man has to be stoic, loud, take up space, and never show weakness. Allowing men to be sensitive, emotional, soft, pretty, and feminine used to be one of the goals of feminism. After all, how are we supposed to see ourselves as truly equal if we still have such strict rules guiding gendered behavior?
Recently, I have seen feminism (trans exclusionary and trans inclusive) solidifying those strict rules of manhood instead of breaking them down. The idea that all men are agressive, stubborn, and will physically overpower you has been parroted so many times, it almost feels like fact. It is forcing —not the men themselves— but the idea of men into the role of the evil wrongdoer. The ways in which terfs have used this image to harm trans women are myriad and obvious.
It used to be common knowledge that feminism also ought to benefit men in this way. If the sexes were truly equal, then men could act feminine, and women could act masculine without social repercussions. This breakdown of gender roles is a good thing! It is freeing for all of us to remove the arbitrary rules guiding gendered behavior.
Men should wear flower crowns and glitter beards and dresses and cry in public and tell their friends they love them. Your idea of men needs to include them doing all of these things. You need to make space in your head for men to be sensitive and thoughtful and caring and safe.
The Gender Traitors
Transitioning from a little girl to an adult man and being told I do not have the ability to engage in theory and terminology made by other trans men to describe our oppression because we "can't be trusted to do it right." That testosterone makes you ugly and if I don't absolutely adore the second puberty I don't deserve it and should detransition because I'm not actually trans. Have it become heavily implied that because I don't pass I'm not included in discussions of transgender men and that it doesn't matter anyways because all transgender men pass eventually and very easily. Being told I make people uncomfortable by asking to be included in talk of abortion and reproductive healthcare pertaining to the uterus and ovaries and then being gaslit that "we already are," or told we don't "contribute anything to the movement" or told we're being "whiny and entitled" or those saying we're really women because men would never want or keep these organs and that they will always be "women's organs" and that they rightfully are. You can tell me you don't view me as a gender traitor but clearly you do whether you know it consciously or not. My oppression is suddenly negligible all because I transitioned into manhood in your mind.

im going to be sick. Mississippi police shot and killed a 1 year old baby boy. Kohen Wiley. he and his mother were just playing.
"someone ended it all before it could even start." - Carlos, Kohen's grandfather.
"Family say the aunt was driving the car and the mother was in the front passenger seat holding her child when the shooting happened."
a mother went to the grocery store with her 1 year old child and. the cops. murdered her baby boy. he was in her arms. in her arms. in her arms.
the cop who did this does not deserve to live. Kohen should still be alive. despicable. beyond words. there are no words anymore. the hatred of Black people is a plague on the world.
may Kohen's spirit find peace and be reborn to his mothers arms in another life. may his family grieve together in peace. fuck the colonial entity known as the United States.
please spread the word about the murder of this baby and the injuring of his family. if anyone can find the name of the officer, add it in a reblog please. same with the mother and aunt, and their current condition. i will update this post if i find it first.
Child was fatally shot and his mother’s friend is wounded after Senatobia police responded to shoplifting call
Kohen Wiley, the slain child, was in the car at the center of the shooting on Sunday alongside his mother and her friend, said Marquell Bridges, a local community advocate who is helping the family find legal representation. Kohen’s mother was physically unharmed, but her friend was seriously injured, said Bridges, the president and founder of an advocacy group called the Building Bridges Coalition.
Apparently a community rally was organized in Senatobia (video of protest included at that link) & the family has legal council.
The community gathered outside Senatobia City Hall on Tuesday evening as they remained concerned after a police officer shot and killed a 1-year-old over the weekend. Dozens of Senatobia natives were present at the rally, calling for justice for Kohen Kartier Wiley. “Today it’s in their community, tomorrow it’s in mine, tomorrow it might be on my doorstep. I have a child. I have grandchildren too,” Aretha Lester said. [...] Wiley’s family has retained prominent civil rights attorney Ben Crump to represent them. “A 1-year-old child is dead because police officers in Mississippi opened fire on a car in a crowded Walmart parking lot,” Crump said in a statement. “Kohen Wiley was a baby. His mother, who has not been charged with any crime, says she was trying to communicate to officers that there was a baby in the car. They fired anyway, leading to the death of an innocent 1-year-old. We intend to seek justice for baby Kohen and the life that was stolen from him.”
Also gonna add that Marquell Bridges livestreamed the protest on Facebook, and the cops fucking tear gassed the protestors (seen around 17:20, or see here).
They tear gassed protestors, at a protest over the murder of a 1-year old and the potentially fatal injuring of another woman, and the traumatizing of an entire family.
And the police department has the gall to ask for "patience." There is no saving the United States.
I’m sorry but officers opened fire on a MOVING VEHICLE IN A CROWDED PARKING LOT??? If the driver had lost control there could have been a LOT more deaths beyond this poor baby. And over fucking SHOPLIFTING????? Who trained these fucking morons?

my dad is very intensely involved a battle with his city’s public administration over a playground they have tried to forcibly remove like five times in the past 20 years and DID remove once in like 2005 but then had to rebuild because my dad was such a pain in their asses and came through with undeniable receipts of the zoning plan from the 60s/the historic/cultural value of the urban planning…. like there’s a woman in the city office who is his arch nemesis. he is literally the daredevil of urban planning
everyone in the tags needs to stop saying they want to fuck my dad.
