He put his hands in his pockets, looking disappointed, “I just kind of hoped if I got in here to meet you before anyone came in telling you rumors about us, I might be able to turn some things around.”
The racer forced himself to smile, “But if you really don’t want me here either, I’ll go, I’m used to it.”
She stopped, putting her hands on her hips. She didn’t mean to make him feel unwanted in any way, but rather, was concerned for his safety within the game. “Wait a moment, outsider,” she said, not knowing what else to refer to the man as. “If you can follow quietly, we may converse. I have not seen an outsider for much time. This may prove interesting.” Her gaze once again turned ice cold. “But you must follow quickly and silently. I need no casualties for the day to cloud my reputation as an officer -- especially permanent ones.”
