Quick Intro

quick intro because i want to get to writing i haven't 'professionally' written in a while nor am i the best but i hope to write more in order to get better! my writing usually consists of using symbolism, metaphors, analogies, etc. and the psychological aspect of things, people, etc. i suppose

im 18

i intend for an audience of around 15+ years old? but i will put any warnings/triggers/etc before my works just so generally people of any age know what will be in it

i will write for basically any fandom/media that im into, such as: - Donnie Darko - Creepypasta - [will add more bc my mind is blanking right now] i also will write just in general stuff and/or my ocs/my own projects

if i write for au's they'll most likely be my own, but who knows genres/writing i like: - horror (psychological, analog, digital, etc. not really into gore but i d have a few ideas in mind though i dont plan on having them appear in my writing) - love (i say love instead of romance because i mean general/all love in writing, platonic, familia, unconditional, conditional, angsty, etc.) - poetry (Sylvia Plath, Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur, etc. and similar) - [these are so very general im sorry LMAO i will add more later...]

If you enjoy a piece of fanart or fanfiction, you say that to the person making it! Comment saying, "This is really good!" Say what you enjoy! Hell, just keysmash, if that's your prerogative! Just do SOMETHING MEANINGFUL to tell the artist that you saw and enjoyed what they made

I once read some fanfic that was a quickly made oneshot that the writer had little intention of going back to and commented, "This is amazing! The character interactions were so cute and you got everyone's voices down pat! Reading this was a wonderful time :D" Three months later, much to my delight, they added a second chapter.

I saw a fancomic of a relatively obscure game I like and when I reblogged it I said everything I loved about the comic and near immediately the artist messaged me saying that they were happy I liked it so much and planned on making a follow-up.

If you want to see more of the things you like then you NEED to let the artist know. If you read a fanfic, make a quick comment about what you liked. If you see something on Tumblr, you should never just like it; The very least you should do is reblog it.

Say more nice things about the things you like! The people making it will love to hear it, no matter how simple you think the praise is!

Guys, I edit professionally. This list is legit. Incorporating these suggestions before you hire an editor will save you A LOT of money. Even if you did these and nothing else, you’d see significant overall improvement in your work.

That said, you don’t have to overthink these things when you’re writing a first draft. If you write, “she said angrily” in a first draft, you can always revisit the phrasing in a second draft. I mention this because overthinking style can lead to a loss of momentum, and losing momentum is why so many people never finish a draft. Give yourself permission to write fast, write messy or ugly, and edit your draft into beauty later.

no more cold and calculating i want warm and calculating. i want characters who use deductive reasoning to figure out whether their friend would like a wool or cotton quilt based off of their lifestyle, career, hobbies, and habits. i want “your nails are often chipped because you work for a law firm as a typist for this company which notoriously underbudgets their IT department, so ive bought you a keyboard cover that will not only prevent manicure damage but is also sensory friendly because I know you dislike certain clicking noises”. i want characters who figure out their friends entire schedules and social battery levels just by examining who only use that info to know when the best time is to hang out with them. i want characters who create elaborate, supervillain level schemes just to get their hands on some collectible they know their best friend wants. most of all i want characters who do not use intelligence and reasoning skills as a reason to be cruel but as a means to be kind

okay okay, I actually am writing now… it’s a Mandela Catalogue AU fic. It will be based off of the show ‘Severence’. The plot will be similar with some tweeks to fit the tmc plot and characters better. This is just a rough draft of a few character overviews, they are subject to change as some character stories overlap between the two series. Here’s my list for who will be like who

Overview for the characters:

Adam M. wakes up on a long office table, frustrated with confusion as an amateur voice speaks on an intercom. He wanted to forget the tragedy of his mother, now he starts fresh with an office job at Alternate Sources sifting out ‘scary’ shapes. But does he even want this? Was this ever for him? Maybe someone will help, outside.

Sarah H. just got promoted to office manager after Thatcher D. left work permanently. She’s a bit awkward and has her work set out for her with Adam M. and his attempts to leave.

Jonah M. seems to be the office comedic relief. He buddies up with Adam M. and spills his little theories about why they do this and what his ‘outie’ is like, but at the first sign of danger he dashes like prey. He doesn’t want to be hurt.

Thatcher D. former Alternate Sources employee was removed due to being ‘disgruntled’. Outside, he has flashes of his Inside life, confusing hallucinations, though he remembers both lives and wants to uncover what’s been going on.

Mark H. manages the well-being of the workers, helping them when they have feelings of distress. He doesn’t get to go home at the end of the day like the others. Adam, Sarah, Jonah, and Eve all have outside lives, but Mark has nothing. He has a resemblance to Sarah H. but there’s a million people with round faces and brown hair so who’s to speculate?

Evelin M. works with Jonah, Sarah, and now Adam. She follows the A.S. handbook to a T…most of the time. The world inside and outside of Alternate Sources is not black and white. Evelin tries to keep the balance with the strange air about the workspace that came about when Adam M. arrived.

anyways that’s when I knew I loved the literature symbolism of eating/being eaten by your loved ones/something beloved, and being reclaimed by nature

I mean this in the kindest way possible, but if you want to draw OCs/do a lot of original work, you must accept that most people are not going to care about them. Like, at all. This is not a negative thing and is in fact the normal way of the world. If you want people to care about your stuff, you have to MAKE them care!
