( But he had. )
The shape of her face seemed familiar. Leon felt a vague fondness for this woman’s eye color, but couldn’t ascertain why. All he could do was offer a hand to help her up.
“….They’re gone now. Are you alright?”
He still favored gloves. Squall’s hands looked larger than she’d remembered, but they were still hidden from the world by tight, black leather. “Heartless roam at night. It’s really not safe, beyond the walls of Twilight Town. Come on. We’ll find a place for you.”

( Squall...? )
Couldn’t be, yet there he stood—broader of shoulder and stature, but certainly him. Blinking maple eyes in surprise, she reached up to allow slender fingers to fit delicately in a leather-clad grip and stood tall once more. “I’m okay! Just ... a little startled, I guess.” Said as casually as she could manage given that he was immediately speaking in riddles. ‘Heartless’ and ‘Twilight Town’ meant nothing to her, yet the man speaking held her world between his palms.
Or... he used to.
“Squall?” she asked with a nervous hitch in her voice. It seemed, somehow, there were years and worlds between them. “You’re—We—Squall, what’s going on?”
