Welcome to the Glowing Chrysanthemum Ask Blog!

What exactly is the Glowing Chrysanthemum, you might ask? To put it simply, it’s a gang made in the quaint town of Qualiforius, intent on creating a peaceful environment for those who live there. They fight against their greatest enemy, the Devilish Angel, learning the importance of help, love, and freedom along the way.

~General Backstory~

The story of the Chrysanthemum started off with a young Gnome, who went by the name of Nyx. A part of the recently fallen gang, the Golden Rose, she spent her days protecting Qualiforius from the Artera Lotus. Bumping into the runaway Axis on the streets, she began to form a bond with him over time, becoming each others’ only friends in a terrifying world. Finding the Golden Rose wasn’t all it was made out to be, the two decided to make a new gang: a safe place for those who had no options, no family, no other reason to live. The Glowing Chrysanthemum was born, and shortly after, two new members were found. Both pets for the Artera Lotus, Crimson and Tone were saved by Nyx and Axis, who welcomed them into their new gang, promising a better future. Only from there did they grow.

(Though the blog will mostly be around the Tabby Cats and Jackalopes, I figured I’d list the others in case they came up!)

Their main enemy is the Devilish Angel, a drug-dealing gang that has control of over four towns. So far, they’ve taken down two out of nine Angels that roam the town.

Rose’s Elegy - Andrew (Pt. 2)

His ear twitched. He hadn’t gotten too far—having sat against a tree in an attempt to regain energy. But, something woke him from his tiredness…

A gunshot. One far too close by. It couldn’t be… right…?

But, curiosity stole the cat. Only satisfaction would bring it back.

Picking his book off of a nearby tree stump, he forced himself to his feet, rushing back to town swiftly—thank goodness he was naturally quick and quiet.

The sound came from… there, right?

Pushing his glasses up, he approached a large, broken-down building, the voices coming from inside confirming his suspicions.

It was that girl, again.

He took a deep breath and crept up behind the Lotus, raising his book…

And bashing it into the man’s head as violently as he could.

Andrew flopped to the ground, passing out instantly—pretty pathetic, especially for someone who managed to get her down… oh, well. He kneeled and offered the girl a hand. But she didn’t take it.

“You… why…? I.. I coulda done it myself,”

“Sure, lady. Just.. let me help you.”

“I don’t..” She hissed, and he frowned, watching her writhe in pain as she tried to stand on her own. He balled his hand up, rolling her bat over to her, instead.

But just as he turned to leave… the damned Lotus groaned and shifted. His gaze snapped to the silver gun in an instant, and without thinking, he grabbed it—aiming it right at the man’s head.

He was.. a bad person.

He tried to kill her. So… it was only fair, right…?

It was only fair.

Shutting his eyes and looking away, he pulled the trigger.

Rose’s Elegy - Andrew (Pt. 1)

The moonlight shone down upon the fallen building, concrete laid about on the floor and the grass, a broken window leaving shattered glass scattered as well. Ever since the raid, the building had been ‘abandoned’, and was broken beyond recognition.

And the last thing she wanted when she came home was to be greeted by the boss of the enemy gang.

She staggered back, clutching onto the handle of her bat, gazing upon the boy’s silver pistol.

“S… seriously..?! You’re gunna use a fuckin’ gun?!”

He let out a sickening laugh, a wide grin upon his pale face, a lotus pin tucked into his light brown hair. “It’s not like we set any boundaries! I’m tired of you killing off my members— the Lotuses want you out.” He took a step towards her, his shoe clacking against the ground, the sound echoing.

“Now, do you wanna make this easy on us, or do you wanna have a slow and painful death? Choice’s on you, Wicked Witch of the West!”

That damned nickname had been tossed around ever since she became the only survivor of the Roses. She clamped her teeth together and growled, “don’t call me that.”

Though just as she raised her bat to strike, a gunshot rang out, and a bullet lodged into her stomach. Her knees buckled immediately, and she let out a violent series of coughs, trying to use her bat to force herself upright again.

Andrew’s laughs only grew louder. “Well, well! Looks like you’re not as invincible as you always say you are- can’t even hold up against an itty bitty bullet, huh?”

“Shut… shut up!!!” She pushed herself up to try to attack, but he was still faster—shooting right at her leg and leaving her on her stomach as her weapon rolled away. “Dam’it…!!”

Her foe stepped forward, pressing his foot into her back as tears dripped down her cheek. Hope, light, and meaning drained from her eyes. With a ‘click’, he held his gun to her head.

“Any last words?”

Rose’s Elegy - The Meeting (Pt. 7)

Her life had flashed before her eyes. Really, it had.

But just when she thought it was all over…

Her pain lifted, and her wounds had closed. Too quickly, too easily.

“Wh…?”

Before she could even finish her question, the Tabaxi had run off, leaving her sat there, in a pool of her own blood.

. . .

Why?

Why didn’t he kill her?

Why did he save her?

Why…?

He was a stranger. One she had attacked—she had started the damn fight, so….

Why?!

Feeling the tears sting at her eyes, she decided it was time to go ‘home’.

Damn it- damn it, damn it, he didn’t mean to….

It wasn’t supposed to do that much damage—he didn’t even expect it to work!

He stared at the bleeding girl, for far too long, terror washed over the former exhaustion on his expression.

No, no… if he let her die…

He was no better than the ones who took his sister’s life, was he?

He muttered a curse in Silven—a language he learned long ago—and sent a healing spell towards the Gnome.

“I.. I’m sorry, I’ll… I’ll go now,” he whispered, backing away and running off into the woods.

Leaving behind the confused Rose.

Rose’s Elegy - The Meeting (Pt. 5)

Shit.

It wasn’t very often she faced someone with magic. But even at first, against him, she didn’t feel too anxious.

In just a moment… that changed.

As her world became muddled, and hundreds of daggers blinded her view, she fell into a panic. She couldn’t move–she could barely even think, falling to the ground with no chance of escaping. A knife to the leg, arm, back… one lodged into her abdomen, and she coughed, crimson splattering on the concrete.

She reached out with a shaky hand–not to him, but to her bat, which rolled away from her. She hissed, laying her head on the cold ground.

“Damn… it…”

Color draining from her face, she watched with blurred eyes as her opponent moved back. She was almost impressed, through all of the pain. He could get a trained gang member down with just one spell… heh.

Was some dumb kid really going to be her end?

…

Maybe she deserved that.

Rose’s Elegy - The Meeting (Pt. 4)

Well… he had certainly tried. And trying… probably wasn’t the best idea.

At this point, most of his easier spells had failed–not only was that dangerous for him, it was severely discouraging. He barely jumped out of the way of her bat’s path, his blood spattering on the ground behind him, his tail dragging through it. By now, a few tears had left his eyes, but he tried to fight on.

“Now who’s th’ coward, fluffy boy?”

He hissed as he sustained a blow to the side, stumbling back and grasping onto his book. At this rate… he’d die, if she kept up her attacks. For someone so tiny, she was horrifyingly powerful. Who even was she..?!

Or maybe, he was just weak. He wouldn’t be surprised by either… but now, he didn’t have a choice.

He knew a few spells that could easily kill–if he could pull one off, he might be able to survive all of this… and though he hated using them, he had no other options.

He let himself fall back, taking the best breath he could, lifting his hand up.

And before he casted his spell… he whispered something,

“I’m sorry.”

And thus a cloud of daggers surrounded the small girl.

Rose’s Elegy - The Meeting (Pt. 3)

“Wh.. where am I supposed to go…??”

One thing she had learned about this giant fluffball: he was a damn coward. A little annoying, but not Lotus-level annoying. A win in some way, right?

“I don’t care, y’can figure it out.”

“I– I don’t.. Have anywhere to go..” He whimpered as she sighed, though a part of her felt bad. But feeling bad wasn’t part of the job–she needed to stay tough.

“Oh well. You’re gunna leave this place, or I’ll make you.”

“How-??”

“‘Re you really questionin’ a gang member? Just listen, jesus christ…”

“You- you keep threatening me, but you haven’t really… done anything to make me believe you,”

“Do you re’lly wanna be beaten up?”

“Wh– no,”

“Then shut up.”

“. . What if I don’t..?”

Jesus, this kid was ballsy. She heaved an even heavier sigh, tilting her head back at him but continued pulling him along.

“I’ll kick your ass. Got it?”

“I doubt you’d actually…”

She rolled her eyes. “Try me.”

Rose’s Elegy - The Meeting (Pt. 2)

He didn’t know where he was. He didn’t know where he was going, or what he was going to do. But he did know that he had to keep going…

Or did he, really?

Regardless, he limped around the town, exhaustion threatening to shut his eyes and never let him wake. Blood trickled down his leg and arm, staining and crusting into his honey-colored fur, spattering in his paw as he swiped it against the shattered glass of his glasses lenses. He sniffled, the area simply a jumbled mess when mixed with the blood, tears, and broken sight of his, only making his anxiety worse.

But he kept going.

He avoided the people, and it almost seemed as if they avoided him, though he couldn’t be bothered to realize. The memory of his sister being killed… it tainted his mind, played over and over again, a mistake of his that he’d never forget. One he couldn’t move on from.

Why?

Why her? Why not him?

No matter how many times he asked these questions, he never received an answer. So, he kept going.

On and on, like an endless merry-go-round. He thought it’d never end, not until he either fainted or… died. And the latter seemed much more likely.

But he was stopped, suddenly.

“Hey.”

A raspy voice called out to him, and he flinched, moving to look up–but, no… wait.

Whoever had addressed him barely reached his chest, which was.. Surprising, but didn’t ease his nerves in the slightest.

“Who th’ hell ‘re you?” Her accent was thick, one he didn’t quite recognize.

He stared at her for a while, really just trying to take in her appearance, but he was far too dizzy and in pain to notice much. All he could focus on was… the weapon she held–a spiked bat, covered in blood, some even.. Fresh.

Terrifying.

“I.. I’m-?” He stammered, the question not fully hitting him, therefore inhibiting his ability to answer. He fell silent as she rolled her eyes, and flinched as she grasped onto his wrist.

“Whatev’r. You shouldn’t be here.” She yanked on his arm, and began pulling him to.. God knows where. He stumbled, doing his best to keep up–but for such a small girl, she sure was fast…

Rose's Elegy - The Meeting (Pt. 1)

Qualiforius.

A town riddled with nothing but problems. Ruled by two gangs: the Golden Roses and the Artera Lotuses. Split into two, the Roses controlled the west side while the Lotuses controlled the east.

Unfortunately, just a year before, the Lotuses had raided the west and killed off all but one Rose.

The last one went by the name of ‘Nyx’. A small girl, just barely four feet tall, with dark skin and deep red hair that faded to brown, pulled up into a messy bun. She wore a black coat with golden rose decals, a black tank top, and brown shorts.

Today, she was making her rounds as usual.

She pushed through the crowds of innocently idiotic people, endless anger painted over her face, weaved into her ruby and sapphire gaze. It was a normal day–at least it appeared as so, the streets bloodied and cleaned a hundred times over, until it all became ordinary. Even the people knew that it was nothing different, and went about their days.

But not everything was orderly.

She paused all of a sudden, her head taking a sharp turn as her glare snapped over to someone who… she didn’t know.

But she knew she was tasked with running them out of town.
