You've got the survivors of the Battleblock Theater, and they made it home (mostly) intact, but traumatized by the events they escaped from.
How would Balan handle this (if this can be handled at all)? How do the remains of the Friendship Crew get drawn to the Wonderworld?
Additionally, would Balan and Lance be able to hear that wacky ahh Narrator that seems to follow the Friendship Crew around?
...does the wacky ahh Narrator need his heart balanced too?

(i didn’t know about this game at all before seeing this ask so i just read the summary on wikipedia sorry 😭) but based on what i read, i guess they would have a hard time trusting balan or any theatre-related place or thing 🤔
(this specific concept sounded really cool btw.. lowkey applying it to balan and lance LOL) but i wonder if balan would be willing to go hatless (or like. just wear a different hat or something) for these critters. also there are a handful of catlike costumes in the theatre… scary 😟
and for the narrator: balan and lance can hear All they are looking and listening 👀👂
Found this again after looking through some stuff, and I'd like to add:
- There'd possibly be the overarching theme of grief n recovery being a connective thread. Besides the whole friendship thing, but I guess this AU could dive into the little nuances that come with catastrophe. How can one help others when you came out of the same situation they did?
- I'd imagine that the areas the Friendship Crew go through aren't too claustrophobic as there are many who have to be released from gacha capsules in game. The Balan Theater is one that's genuinely welcoming, and would be one hell of a contrast to the Battleblock Theater.
- Speaking of, Balan and Lance would probably be horrified that the Battleblock Theater became what it was. Capturing those unfortunate enough to get marooned and forcing them into the gladiatorial prison-y entertainment for cat audiences would probably warrant that kind of response. Regardless of how it started.
- Balan and Lance would be working together. Both have got methods that'd work for different people, a dance of positive and negative. Getting into the philosophical stuff about how both are needed, yadda yadda
- The Narrator would express how you didn't want this to be like that last theater that you so narrowly escaped from. Would be surprised to learn that you're not the only one who can hear him.
- Did the whole thing bring the crew of the SS Friendship closer or drive them further from eachother? idk man
- Fine dining for those in proximity because of that one guy who makes food so stinking delicious that your face explodes
- guy who's absolutely terrified of bats
- lady who smells like chocolate and tells excellent bedtime stories.
